The ancient ritual of brewing a distinctly rich and flavorful beer is a performance to behold. Our mysterious melange of time-honored ingredients harmonize with chaotic chemistry, humble patience, and blind faith to create this unique beer to share in the rousing company of kindred spirits. Cheers!

3.2Brown ale is sort of a neglected style these days but this one is fairly solid.. It’s got a nice toasty, chocolatey malt character but is maybe a touch too far on the grassy bitter side than would be ideal. It does have a nice brown color and a creamy head along w/ a decently full mouthfeel though. I’ve had worse beers.
2.9Poured a lighter brown with a beige head. Aroma was nutty, earthy hops, caramle. Flavor similar, hops come across as bitter rather than complimenting the beer. Meh.
3.5Bottle. Pours most clear light brown. Aroma is floral and citrus hops, light toast, caramel, and some bready malts. Flavor is nicely bitter with floral and earthy hop character balanced by the sweet caramel malt notes, and some toasted woody character. Medium body.
3.1Smells of nutty deep rich molasses bready. Deep dark brown color. Taste is deep rich malty flavor with flat carbonation and full body. Drinking out of 12 oz bottle out of tumbler glass. Wish magic hat would make a come back and put out something good like hopdrip that was last winters beer which happen to be what I say is the best thing they have come out with in the last decade. Please make a come back.
3.1This beer isn't offensive by any means. But it fails as both a good brown and a darker IPA. I'm a sucker for hoppy browns, but this one falls flat. There's a maltiness that almost makes me wish it were a Doppelbock.
3.5I’m really impressed with this Brown from Magic Hat. Earthy and nutty throughout but with a spicy hopped finish that is prickly and cleansing on the palate. Light chocolate raisin notes in there as well. Spirals into a long bitter nutty fade. Well done.
2.812 oz. bottle pours a clear mahogany brown with moderate head and little lacing. Aroma is not strong but has raisins, bread, and some roasted malts. Taste is slightly sweet with a hint of bitterness in the finish. Body is thin to at best medium without much carbonation. Nothing offensive here, but nothing memorable either.
2.7Bland with minor hop and roast contribution. Dull. Not recommended. Thin body and head.
3.2Clear copper pour with a medium off white head. Aroma is malts, caramel, toffee and some earthy hops. The taste is malty with caramel flavor and a slightly earthy hop finish. Not bad.
3.3Not so bad. Has an initial but of a caramel malt taste ending with a grapefruit hops.
3.1From bottle, Christmas Eve at the Rocks. Hoppy and malty. Good balance, though not as smooth as would like. Taste is bready, and pine woody, Ash finish.
2.7I really did not care for this one...not really hoppy like advertised...ok brew.
3.2DATE TASTED: December 20, 2015... GLASSWARE: Barley Creek pint...OCCASION: a second beer to welcome the official start of winter in a day or two... APPEARANCE: mahogany brown body that allows light through; thick, slightly chunky head is off-white and strong, remaining at two-thirds of a finger with coral lacing above--an attractive pint, no doubt... AROMA: elusive bouquet, with baker’s sugars, heavy malts and toasted with little to no hops to speak of; some nuttiness and woody notes... PALATE: thick, medium-bodied, warming and intermittently creamy; astringency on the back end subtracts, but the overall effect beckons another...TASTE: nuts--peanut, pecan--are front and center...light lemon, sugary bitterness, and syrupy sweetness (chocolate? licorice?) challenge for consideration against a toasted malty backbone...OVERALL: another slightly off-center beer from Magic Hat that doesn’t seem to have such a winning distinction in its profile...it LOOKS like a beer you want to enjoy in the winter; it tastes like a beer from a sampler that might be forgotten...
3.2Bottle. Clear reddish-brown pour with an off-white head. taste and aroma of spicy hops and some malt sweetness, Not a version of brown ale that I am particularly fond of..
3.212 oz bottle. Pours brown with tall, long lasting, fluffy, off-white head and nice lacing. Aroma is of bready malt, herbal hops and some cherries. Body is medium and crisp. Taste is similar to aroma. Finish is long and hoppy. Overall it is good brew.
3.1Bottle at Norwegian holiday party in MD. Nice chestnut body with slight tan head. Nose is toasty, malty and spicy. Flavour is similar of caramel, malts, brown sugar and spices. A bit subdued overall but enjoyable.
3.1Bottle. Tastes like earthy hops, some pine and grapefruit, and roasted nutty malt. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like earthy hops, roasted nutty malt, toast, and some grapefruit and pine.
3.512 oz bottle served in a pint glass. Pours clear dark copper with red undertones. Aroma is sweet roasty malt; caramel and oak notes standout; light coffee and dark caramel notes as well. Taste is clean, heavy dark caramel malt, boozy and sweet. Big bitter finish, although whatever hop notes are here are dominated by the sweet malt. Tons of big flavor relative to the IBU here. Still, this is how a winter warmer should taste. Solid.
2.4This brown ale poured a deep amber colour with a nice, creamy, tan coloured head. Scents include candy, fruit and caramel. First swig was a little thin with flavours of old dusty books, smokey caramel and and a little candy. Finish was quite hoppy with a smokey flavour and a semi sweet malt flavour lingering.
2.5Drinkable. Aroma was decent. Mostly dark roasted malts with notes of caramel and metal. Pour was a nice clear medium brown with a thin tan film for a head. Taste had this nagging metallic flavor that was hard to ignore. Very malty, but not too sweet. The hop flavors were enough to keep the beer balanced but that’s it. Nice carbonation.
2.8Bottle, Ann Arbor, MI. Light brown. Metallic caramel aroma. Some chocolate. Lighter flavour than expected. Some chocolate caramel and spice. Medium finish.
2.9Bottled. Pours clear brown, big slightly brown head. Aroma is malt, hops, and roasted malt. Flavor is malt heavy. Actually a decently hoppy finish.
4.0A fine seasonal offering from magic hat, although I do expect a little more creativity from them. Pouring this beer out into a pint glass is a must, with a nice sweet aroma and just enough savory vanilla and spice to get you to take another sip. Not the best brown ale I’ve had, but certainly not the worst!
2.912 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 11/15/15. Pours a chestnut color with a sheeting tan colored head and heavy, coating lacework. Fairly muted aroma is malty, with some toffee, bread, nutty notes, and a tiny bit of earthy hop. Flavor follows the same path. Malty, not particularly sweet, and with a mild bitterness. Light bodied and a touch thin, with an alright mouthfeel. Not overly flawed or anything, just kinda boring. At least it is a really nice looking beer!
3.2One of the better new seasonals from Magic Hat. A standard medium-strength brown ale with some added spice. I’d compare it do the Blue Moon Full Moon or similar winter/abbey ales. Semi-clear light to medium brown appearance. I’ll sample again this upcoming fall/winter season.
3.4NIce and easy to drink. Nto so brown, mnore like an amber but fine to enjoy with friends.
3.3Bottle. Poured a ruddy auburn color with a frothy khaki colored head. Toasted but and toffee aroma; maybe some citrus and fruit. A nice caramel and toffee backbone; hint of sweetness. Not all that hoppy for me except a long sort of earthy finish.
3.2Plum-amber with a small head and a sweet, mildly-hoppy nose. Mildly-carbonated with a medium-thin body finishing with moderate hoppiness, raisins, dates, and a lingering, faint alcohol presence.
2.3Magic Hat Snow Roller is a darker amber beer with a fine head of light tan bubbles. Nose is sweet with scents of malt and toffee. Taste is similar to nose with moderate sweetness and just a hint of mild roasted flavor. the body is a bit thin. a mildly disappointing beer.
