3.2 3/26/2012. Light amber with a white head. Caramel, bread, grain and malty aromas. Bitter, hoppy flavors with corn and caramel. Medium carbonation.
2.6 Rated on 01-30-2010 (Draft) This beer pours a small tan head that mostly diminished, transparent body, no visible carbonation, fair amount of lacing, and a golden hue. The Aroma is malty, hoppy, caramel, and nutty. The Taste is malty, hoppy, bitter, caramel, and has a dry finish. The Palate is smooth and this is a medium bodied beer. All-in-all, just a so-so tasting beer without a lot of pizzazz to it. This is a beer that did not leave me wanting more of.
3.4 Spring 2010 Vintage 7/20/2010: Magic Hat Vinyl Lager Spring Seasonal... Aroma: Toasted grains; bread crust; almond; light caramel syrup. Appearance: Hazy coppery-gold color; contains some fine suspended sediment; frothy beige head; minimal level of visible carbonation. Flavor: Toasty sweet malts; dried leaves; doughy (slightly yeasty); a touch of caramel; moderate earthy-floral bitterness in the crisp, spicy/grassy finish. Palate: Medium-bodied; smooth; calm mouthfeel. Overall: Nothing like I had expected, but better than expected; this is a tasty Vienna-style lager; I would drink a 6-pack of this... 3/4 pint bottle (5.1% Alc./Vol.; Best before end of: May 2010) from Bigg’s Hypermarket in Harrison, Ohio. Rating #340 for this beer.
2.9 Rated in 2010 (Backlog) - Red orange in color with a small off-white head. Aroma is of grain, light corn and gass. taste is of grain and light grass.
3.0 Bottle. This was a decent ale but something was a little off. Could not quite pick it out.
3.1 Decent beer. Nice citrus aroma and flavors. Not heavy either. Overall pretty enjoyable.
2.8 Amber pour with a small eggshell head.Very malty aroma with some raisin and brown sugar in the background.Flavor is malt, a little grass, slightly sweet, grassy finish. A little on the thin side. Nothing bad about it but hard to recommend.
3.0 From notes: Poured hazy orange-amber with a 1-finger bone-colored head. Bready yeast aroma with a sweet malt note. Medium body with a slightly lingering finish. Flavor was mostly bready yeast, giving way to a malty sweet note. OK.
3.3 bottle. Poured clear reddish-amber with a creamy beige head. Sweet malty aroma. Medium mouthfeel, smooth carbonation with a tart finish. Earthy malty brew with some caramel and nutty notes.
3.4 Heavy amber color, ring on the head. Soft perfumed malt nose, some stone fruit notes and sugar. Melanoidin body, wood, pleasant stone fruit flares. Quite nice
3.1 Amber pour into the glass with a white head. Notes of malt on the nose. Crisp, clean, and refreshing but lacking the depth I’ve become so fond of with Magic Hat. Not bad, but could be better.
3.1 Bottle. Amber in color, pure white head. Clean tasting, light aroma. Very refreshing. Great vienna.
2.9 nice vienna lager. ch-ch-check, viena calling, calling oh oh magic hat delivers
2.5 Amber. Smell is malty, sweet, with a background of something else. Read another rating that described it as biscotti-like. That is spot on. Taste is biscuity with a sweet finish that is berderline too sweet. Not bad but not one of my faves from magic hat.
2.9 Cloudy amber, tall tan head. Scent is caramel. Taste is light sweet fruit, caramel, a touch of bread, malt....just slightly nutty.
3.4 If you like sweet lagers, you will like this one. Light caramel color with a very slight nose. It has a light yeasty taste. Not a big finish. Pleasing beer.
3.4 a nice red color. a very light aroma with hints of caramel. a light flavor with light of breadiness. the finish has an interesting flavor that I can’t place that sits on your tongue for a LONG time. maybe hints of anise.
3.0 Bottle from the brewery. Clear amber pour, small white head. Quite malty, light grassy hops. Nothing much, but quite refreshng after a warm afternoon of yardwork.
2.8 Worth trying. Not too inspiring. Magic Hat is a great brewery that has some better stuff out.
3.0 Growler. Kind of hazy amber. This is a decent lager. Some caramel malt and a slight hop bite. Website says it has Northern Brewers which I like, and make it bear some resemblance to Anchor Steam.
3.1 Clear medium amber with a long-lasting head covering and cobweb lace. Caramel malt is dominant with an earthy biscuit bitter to finish it off. Nice little diversion. (I think my sample is fresher than some of the other reviewers).
2.6 Tap at the wet whistle in abington. Straight caramel, sweet malt. Mildly watery. Boring, pointless. Another disappointment from magic hat.
3.6 Doesn’t have a lot of aroma, but some caramel malt. This is not aggressive in any way, but definitely a by-the-books type of lager. Sweet caramel malts and a bit strainy, drinkable.
3.4 Bottle. Poured amber with a fizzy, quick off-white head. Aroma of toasted malts and toffee. The flavor found toasted malts with a slight earthy backing. Medium body and a toasted malt aftertaste.
2.6 Bottle; Pour is murky golden amber with a modest off white head in this glass. It doesn’t retain well, and there is some light lacing present. The nose is biscuits, roast, caramel, and some grains...honestly this is yet another shitty magic hat brew. Marketing is their primary focus here, naturally. It’s thin, way too roasty for the style, more grains and some adjunct... Hated it.
2.9 Pours brown/amber with minimal head/lace. Dry, sweet, palate is soda poppy. $1.99/12oz @ Total Wine & More, Boca Raton, FL
3.3 Crisp, malty, slightly fruity aroma is a little better than many lagers I have sampled. It pours a clear, dark copper with a fine-bubbled, if not too persistent, pale tan head. Crisp, malty flavor has a firm note of apple and just a hint of pear - and is that a touch of hops? Texture is about average, but overall this is a refreshing beer. Good for a party or paired with a light meal.
3.0 12oz bottle. Poured an amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of saw dust, some earthiness, and some toasted bread. Tastes of toasted bread, and grains. Thin and somewhat watery body.
3.6 12oz bottle drank out of a medium sized snifter glass. A stellar aroma of freshly cut fire wood. The apearance was a pleasant copper color with a half inch head. Flavor; light, woody, and slightly sweet. Palate; extremely light and refreshing, but it was this beer’s weakest attribute. will drink again and re-rate.
3.1 Appearance - Not a lot of head or lacing, but the color is a brilliant deep amber, almost purple color, perfectly clear. It’s a pretty color. Aroma is earthy malts, almost dirt-like (that’s not bad, BTW, I like the smell of freshly dug earth). It’s also just a touch musty. It reminds me of a bitter or a mild in flavor, earthy, tons of caramel malts and nutty notes, Not outstanding but it kind of grows on you as you drink it. Rich and smooth, lightly slick, lingering earthy caramel malt aftertaste. It’s tasty but not outstanding. Quite different for the style though.
