Magic Hat Wacko

Magic Hat Wacko

A beer with beet juice color.
Wacko is the liquid song of summer: Crisp like the morning, cool like the evening and quenching all day long. Pop the top and set your summer loose. Wacko is a delicious summer beer with a big malty aroma, a subdued hop bite and a clean, slightly sweet finish.

4.1 had an expired bottle.... still tastes very good ....pours almost orange... slight bite after taste but maybe because its old
1.5 Ehh....this one is kind of bland ....not bad for the summer time though...probably would drink again
2.4 Smells like beets, tastes like beets, looks like beets. I do not like beets.
2.5 Bottle. Pours deep coppery toward ruby with min head. Nose was malty, mild florals, hops, and spice. Tastes malty, very floral, dry, and peppery, with some hops, and a medium complexity. Just OK.
2.3 Wacko? Indeed, I must be a little nuts for shelling out my hard-earned cash on swill of this nature. Magic hat=tragic ass, after imbibing this sewer water. Ick. Summer seasonal, hey? Maybe a season in hell. Another "beer" I hoist the digitus infamous to, and swear "NEVER AGAIN". My loyalty lies with Blatz, and when you are subservient to the "DICTATOR of BEERS" it’s only a few small slip-ups until you find yourself on the outside looking in, at the cool people wallowing in Blatz-fueled mayhem.
2.8 Reddish amber color out of the bottle with a fizzy pinkish hued head. Light spritzy nose. Light beer with an odd almost cranberry sweet/tart flavor. I don’t know why I buy Magic Hat beers.
3.9 Pours red, like for beer this is looks like fruit punch. Has a small white head from carbonation. Aroma is Sweet and of mild hops. This beer is light and easily drinkable, no hop presence here but the carbonation does excite the tongue. Brew is pretty sweet with a dry bitter finish. Taste floral, and of it’s main ingredient: Beat’s. Interesting beer here completely different than any other I think I’ve ever seen.
2.5 Initially pours pink but it looks red/brown when totally sitting in the glass with a milky white head that laces down the glass. The beer has a strawberry smell over the bready wheat. The aroma has a slight hops which is surprising that it shines at all over the sweet smell. A salty taste is the only remarkable taste, otherwise it is just a watery brew. The palate is light, but again their is not much to this beer besides a pink hue and water. Disappointing. It does have a nice label though.
2.3 Bottled @ cgarvieuk’s Need some Cupboard Space tasting. Clear orange colour, off-white head. Nose is dusty, vegetables, bit of fruits. Flavour is fruity, bit vegetables. Light bodied and fairly carbonated.
2.0 Thanks Blair for this bottle. Pours a dark golden colour with a thin white head. Vegetal aroma of cabbage and courgette. Similar flavours and quite sweet. Not my thing
2.6 bottle at home ... thanks to Blair ... copper ... thin white head .. grassy herbal nose ... soft toffee malt ... herbal again .. not my thign at alll...
1.8 Bottle @ Craig Garvies. Vegetable malt aroma. Copper Amber colour, not much head. Sour vegetable flavour, dry aftertaste. Not good but the bottle was nice.
2.7 Red with white head. Wheaty, yeasty malt aroma. Taste is much like the aroma. Wheat, earthy yeast and a bit fruity. Low hops. Highly drinkable...a decent summer beer.
0.5 I’m not even gonna waste anyone’s time on this one. It sucks big time! This is NOT beer. Seriously, ‘wacko’ is the perfect term for this brew. I’d much rather eat the bottle than to take another sip of this atrocity!
1.9 I think this beer is wacko, not tasting at all. Reddish pour, pink head, ok not bad. Sweet, easy beer to drink…if you don’t like beer. I guess for the summer months, just not or me.
1.1 6.99 for a 6 pack at Whole Foods, there is a reason a Summer Brew is on sale in Sept. it’s simply disgusting.....pale pink color and tastes like miller light with some beet juice added..AVOID THIS
2.7 Bottle. Pours an interesting peach/amber color with thin tan head. Aroma of peach, citrus. Taste is mostly sweet. Medium body, high carbonation, abrupt finish. Fairly average overall.
2.3 An interesting brew to be certain. It pours a rosy pink (odd) and has a sweet fruity light hop odor. This beer might be interesting to try as a single (or in a variety pack as I got it. ) but not something I’d want a 6 pack of...
1.4 I don’t try to many beers that I pour out. But this one I did. Awful. Did not even taste like any beer I have ever tasted. And this in itself is not enough to turn me off. But this beer was ill-conceived and poorly executed. Pours a clear light brown with rose highlights. Small rose colored head. Little to no aroma. The taste was like a watered-down raspberry tea. Blech! Flat and watery. I don’t know if this beer was just old or what, but I had been leery of Magic Hat in the past. I have not found one beer brewed there to my liking. Sorry, guys. Keep trying.
1.4 on tap at reservoir, waterbury. clear bright red, pinkish small head, no retention, no lacing. aroma of cereals, acidity. sweet malts, aggressive carbonation.
1.8 Grapefruit juice color with barely any head. Very little aroma, with a tiny bit of hop presence and a little caramel-like maltiness. Very crisp to taste, in fact this beer is so crisp that it essentially lacks in all sorts of flavor. There is only the smallest amount of hops detectable and the maltiness from the aroma immediately disappears on the palate. It is very close to slightly tangy carbonated water.
3.4 [bottle] Clean almost lagery aroma with subtle noble hops that are herbal and some spice. The flavour is an herbal bitterness with weak caramel and some detectable hops. Good balance but not exciting. Light body, medium carbonation, clean finish but for some spice.
3.0 An interesting beer; pinkish-red in color with a white head. Light malt aroma and taste that sweetens up a bit and finishes crisp and refreshing. A pretty good summer brew.
2.5 Seems fairly lacking in aroma. Nice color with white head and a little lacing. Hop bitterness in the aftertaste, with malt being dominant at the start.
2.1 12 ounce bottle from variety pack. Pours a light red with a small white head. Aroma of citrus and malt. Taste is malt and fruit with a hint of hops. Why the beet jucice color? Odd.
2.1 12oz bottle from Greenwood poured into a shaker...this beer doesn’t deserve a better glass. Pours a off-orange almost purple color. Small bit of bright white head that disappears quickly but leaves a bit of lacing. Aroma is "beer". Nothing of any real pertinence of aroma on this one. Taste is lightly sweet and lightly sour. Leaves a pretty bad aftertaste. Thin bodied and thin textured. Overall, it’s not bad for how cheap it is. I don’t understand the impotence of the beet juice. It’s basically the same as a High Life or Budweiser but a little bit sweeter. Save your money, buy something else.
2.8 This beer is a bit awkward. You know something is up when it pours extremely red. Upon some further investigation this seems to be the "beet juice" coloring. I’m impressed that they put beet juice in this. I don’t really taste beets, but that is a good thing. I don’t see what the attraction of beet coloring is, maybe they just like change. I won’t knock them for it. Unfortunately a side effect of this beet coloring might or might not be a funky smell. Also it tastes a bit watery / sweet (but not normal beer sweet), almost a metalic sweet. This beer is okay, much better than the 16/18 you all give it, but its not amazing. I could see myself drinking this again.
2.5 Pours a pinkish light amber color with a metallic nose. Flavor-sort of grain, sweet malt, fruit of some sort. Not great.
2.3 From notes: Pours with 1/2 finger of pinkish, white head. The beer itself is perfectly clear and pink. Slightly sweet malt with a beet undertone I typically associate with macro lagers. Slightly sweet malt upfront with that veggie aftertaste. Ever so slight twinge of hops in the finish. Average to higher than average carbonation bite upfront. Body is okay. I’m not sure why they would do this to their company. I know they like throwing different things into their beers. But, this one is a bit wacko.
2.1 355 ml bottle. From South Burlington, VT. Cloudy red colour with small white head. Malt and wheat in aroma. Malt and some berry sweetness in flavour. Pretty easy and tasteless. Very much summer beer.
