Magners Classic Pear

Magners Classic Pear

We all need a bit of variety and that’s why we came up with the idea for Magner’s Pear. Of course, we like to do things properly and don’t mind taking our time about it, so unlike some Pear cider, the only fruit that goes into ours is pears.

And of course, you’ll only find 100% premium quality pears in Magners Pear, which we filter to get rid of any impurities before fermenting slowly.

That’s what makes Magners Pear so fresh, fruity and full of flavor. So next time you’re out and wanting a bit of a change, pour a Magners Pear, sit back and enjoy.

2.2 Just had the Growers Pear cider, so comparing with this one that gets more points. Some colour, very light golden with fast going head. The aromas are way more yeasty than the pear juices. The taste is the same with hints of wood. Yeah, not my thing. Much preferred the Growers version.
2.7 Sampled from 0.568 l bottle, best before November 2018. Clear, like water with a few white bubbles on top. Sweetish, a little sourish, moderately fruity and a bit artificial aroma of chemical pear and some green apples. Moderately sweet, a little sourish, moderately fruity and a little artificial taste of pear and some green apples, followed by a short, slightly tart, moderately dry finish. Thin body, moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Quite okay actually.
2.1 33cl bottle at café de toeter in Groningen. Pours light pale yellow colour with a small fizzy white head which rapidly dissipates. Aroma of pear, syrup, slight citrus. Taste is medium sweet, low bitter with a soft dry finish. Notes of pear and nothing much else. Texture is watery, light bodied with lively carbonation
2.4 Pours a colorless color. Imagine a glass of water and you squeezed half a lime in it. Very very light green. Pretty good carbonation, no head. Aroma is pear and pear skin. Taste is only lightly sweet. Clearly pear, light. Mouthfeel is light and watery. Dry and papery. Overall, it's not so good. Gets better as it warms. I don't recommend it, and I won't buy it again.
2.4 October 2017 - 500ml can served very cold at home in Richmond as 'Magners Irish Cider Classic Pear', 4.5%, BB Jan 2018 and 235 calories (first time I think I've seen that on a cider). Pours with a very satisfying glug glug. Almost colourless like sodawater, but a little translucent rather than clear, sparkling with no head whatsoever. Aroma is bubblegum and pear juice. Body is light, spritzy, a touch foamy. Taste is pear juice, crisp sodawater, touch of gala apple. Just very pear and crisp and pretty clean. Refreshing. Tooth-coating sugars. Not as bad as I remember it being, but also not something I'd seek out again. (4-3-4-2-11=2.4)
2.3 Süß-säuerlicher Antrunk, Birne. Sehr süß werdend, Ginger Ale, feine Karbonisierung. Die starke SÜße stört und macht den Perry unsüffig. Okay. 8/7/7/7/7/8
1.8 500 ml can. Pours a pale hay with big bubbles. Aromas of pears and a bit of champagne. Flavors of ginger ale and very sweet pears. A weak cooler.
2.6 0.568l bottle from marktkauf/edeka. pours a clear elderflower white with a small head. mild aroma of elderflowers, ash, sparkling wine. not much pears, but interesting nevertheless. flavour of a fruit lemonade, energy drink, quite sweet.
2.5 Bottle from Raglan Road in Disney Springs. Not so great. Semi-dry, light pear flavors, fizzy. Nearly colorless, just a very pale yellow.
3.2 30/07/2016 - from cider ratings backlog. 568ml bottle. Clear pale greenish colour, no head. Fresh and fairly mellow aroma and taste of sweet fruity pears. Light body, lively carbonation.
2.3 On tap. Pours a clear light yellow with a thin, fizzy, white head that fully diminishes. Sweet fruity aroma of pears. Sweet fruity flavour of pears with a crisp finish. Light body with a watery texture and average carbonation.
2.5 A pale blonde cider with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet chalky character, light pear juice, light mineral notes, OK. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity pear bubbly pop, but this is not a perry. Can from LCBO.
3.1 Very light and refreshing. Extremely light colored felt like I should add some lime vodka or something to give it a little kick but enjoyable and didn't feel like I was having alcohol.
2.3 Botella de 50 cl. Color amarillo verdoso, poca o nada espuma. Cuerpo ligero. Aromas frutales a pera con un punto cítrico. Sabor poco persistente, dulce, poco amargor. Nada especial.
2.4 33cl bottle at home. Appearance: clear pale yellow, almost colourless, with visible carbonation and no head. Aroma: pear, white wine like aroma, rubberish and some ethylacetate / solvents. Taste: high sweetness and moderate bitterness. Notes of pear / apple and white wine. Pear is not really distinct. Palate: light bodied, watery to sticky texture and lively carbonation.
2.2 Aroma is sweet, unsure if it’s pears all the way through. Very sweet taste, but still very light. No real depth or body to this one, a touch sticky on the tongue. Smooth to go down. Overall not a terrible drink, as it goes down like water-- likely because it tastes so closely TO water.
1.3 roasty, earthy, skunky, clear, pale, minimal head, white foam, heavy cloying sweetness, medium body, thick feel, average carbonation,
2.4 Bottle. Clear pale yellow. Aroma of pears, a bit of sulfur and yeast. Very sweet, flavors of pears and apple juice, a bit tart, very light. Light bodied, sparkling and fizzy. OK.
1.9 Aroma is kind of odd- no pear and just something kind of perfumy sweet/fruity and ashes. Flavor’s way too sweet, again no pear plus the carbonation is light. The carbonic tang would’ve helped to cut the sweetness. Finish is ok.
3.0 From Carrefour San Juan. In Ikea?s pint glass. Playing Big Fish Legend with daughter after dinner Pleasant to drink but too much smooth, lacking of punch. Ugly aspect, very transparent, watery-like and without foam
2.7 Not too bad. Sweet tasting, but not as sweet as some perries. It is light coloured, almost clear. The taste is of pears and apples, but is very light on flavour, the over fizziness also detracts from some of the flavour. It seems slightly synthetic to me as well. It is OK for a hot day, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.
1.9 Holy wow, this is one of the worst soda pop ciders I’ve ever had. It smells kinda like grapes and nail polish w/ a savory undertone somewhat reminiscent of raw meat. It’s sweet as hell but at least it doesn’t have fizzy carbonation and there is a pleasant bit of tartness if you can get past the nose. Really not into this one. At least American examples are not actively foul just too sweet and stupid.
1.9 Pint bottle up the white lady. Pours pale pissy yellow with a thin white head. Aromas of sweet pear, sugar. Taste is sweet, sickly. Too sweet.
1.9 Bottle up the White Lady. Appearance - pale golden with loads of bubbles and a thin frothy head. Nose - sweet pear and a bit sickly. Taste - very sweet and sickly pear. Palate - light to medium bodied with a sweet sickly middle section that continues through to the finish. Overall - a bit too sickly to be refreshing.
2.9 Somewhat thin, but building to a pear flavor that lacks in tartness. Sweet, buttery, then a woody finish. Meh.
3.2 Bottle. 568ml Price: 1,99€. patiko kad nėra labai saldus. Visai geras skonis, vietoj limonado
1.5 Bottle 330ml. Slightly yellowish water like with no head. Aroma of pear, detergent and some sulfur. Sweetish flavor with notes of pear, sulfur and lemon, bitterish finish. Very carbonated, light-bodied. Dull.
2.2 I like pear as a fruit and in a cider, but this one is pretty weak across the board. Super light color and body, spritzy like a soda. Flavor and aroma is weak fruit, dry, with a hint of tartness. Meh.
2.7 Aroma is peer, appearance is golden with minimal head. Taste is light sweet and light sour. Palate is thin.
2.4 Bottle into pint glass, very clear pale golden color with minimal white head. Aroma notes of pear sweetness and faint apple tart. Taste adds more sugary pear flavor. Light body, moderate-low carbonation, sticky with sweet pear finish. It’s a sweet perry, not much else to it.
