Maine Beer A Tiny Beautiful Something

Maine Beer A Tiny Beautiful Something

a tiny beautiful something showcases a new hop variety, El Dorado. We started playing around with this hop last year. We brewed a pilot batch with this hop exclusively and one with it blended with some of our other favorite Northwest varieties. In the end, we decided that the El Dorado had such a unique and interesting character on its own, so we decided to brew it as a “single hop” pale ale. The aroma and flavor offer intense candied orange and citrus zest. A touch of flaked oats provide a rounded, silky mouthfeel. And like our other hoppy offerings, tiny was brewed to finish dry and clean.

4.0 DATE: September 19, 2019... OCCASION: taking a break from a roll-call of Oktoberfests with another Maine gift from Brad... GLASSWARE: Hop Devil nonick... pours a lively, head-heavy and barnacle-bubbled glass... its head is cavernous, craggy and strong, white like sea foam... orange, papaya, grapefruit, and tropical acidity waft without check--a berry and hard fruit mingles with resin to create a complex impression... sunshine in a bottle--bright, punchy at the teeth and impactful at the throat, this balances nicely as a medium-bodied ale that suggests pauses between sips to let its flavor set in... a bit creamy as well... mango, grapefruit, and papaya--a holy trinity of tart hops... resin is in the mix, while the malts are soft and subtle... how big is this flavor profile! for a 5.5% ABV, this hits hard yet smooth... Brad, another success...
4.0 On tap at Pinocchio’s. Straw colored pour with one finger head. Aroma of citrus and melon. Orange citrus flavor with peach and melon. Very tasty. Grapefruit and pine bitterness. Well balanced. Delicate on the tongue. Very nice
3.9 (On tap) Clear amber with small white head. Lovely vibrant aroma - grapefruit, orange, hint of caramel. Medium body with lovely smooth fine carbonation. Refreshing fruity tangy citrus start, with light caramel gently joining in mid palate followed by some pleasant bitterness. A fine well balanced beer.
3.8 Lacks a little something.
3.8 Pours a clear golden with an average white head. The aroma is pleasing but not overpowering. Peach, pine, grass, and caramel, and its balanced evenly. The sip is dry and produces a mild bitterness. The flavor now takes a bit of an herbal tone and is coupled with a healthy pine. Underneath is peach, pineapple, hints of mango, and slight resin. It ends in a long and light pine aftertaste. Medium bodied and a bit sticky in texture. This one won't overawe you but it is solid in every facet. An easy recommendation.
4.3 500ml bottle - $6.99 at Sprayberry Bottle Shop in Marietta, Georgia. 04/09/19. Appearance: Pours a rich golden hue with a tiny touch of haze underneath a well-sized, near-white stack of foam. With so much gloop and gimmick these days, it really is nice to set sight on an actual beer. Smell: Fruity, delicate hop notes smelling of fresh-cut pear, watermelon and light citrus with a slight candy-like element to it and touch of musky spice. Contemporary malt bill with a slight hint of oats. Taste: A smooth, clean barley base with extra cushion from the oats. Minimally sweet. Zestful, spicy with almost elegant fruit flourishes that, as the hops are imparting their bitterness, the taste turns a bit herbal, dry and stays so through the rather clean, almost effortless finish. Mouthfeel: Just barely medium-bodied. Medium-light carbonation. Overall: These folks really know how to craft a really tight recipe and deliver on it. A rather moreish beer -- so many times I'm horrified to even have the one bottle or can, with little interest to go beyond a few sips of woeful, one-roll inducing brew and disappointed in the forever lost time and money (particularly knowing that, by buying such flimsy, foul beers, I sent the message I approve and readily want more). However, I've really enjoyed the Maine beers I've tried.
4.1 Lovely pale ale, a wonderful mix of fruity El Dorado notes and easygoing cracker malts. Peach-watermelon on the front leads to an herbal, citrus-tinged finish, while the slight crackery dryness offers a nice balance. Love the lack of sweetness, love the depth of flavor accented but not dominated the hops. Why would you ever drink a session IPA when there's a tiny beautiful something? Frickin' delicious pint.
4.0 Botttle from Cap Tap. Pours copper tinged gold with a foamy white head. Aroma is very orange. Med body. Flavor is very orange that's rather orange zest. Must be a lot of hop in it. It's well towards dry, has discernible roasty malt, and it's strikingly bitter. Sort of NW, but no harshness despite the zest. Good stuff indeed.
3.0 Pours a cloudy golden with a creamy, white well-retaining head. Citrus cert and circus peanut nose. Same flavors with more tartness than expected. Pretty harsh on the nose, palate, and in the flavor. Pretty disappointed.
3.9 Bottle from Bradley Food and Beverage. Golden and orange body with large head. Nose is hoppy and floral and citrus. Taste is also hoppy an citrus. Enjoyable clean finish.
3.8 Hazy yellow pour, fresh citrus/orange nose. Very smooth mouthfeel, slightly bitter taste. Bitter and fast finish.
4.1 Larger bottle picked up by blondredhead in NYC and brought back to Minneapolis for consumption out of a tulip glass. As is always the case with this brewery, the appearance and aroma are on point. Beautiful golden orange hue with solid lacing and head. Aroma is big citrus and incredibly inviting. Taste follows the aromatic lead of citrus with a bright refreshing characteristic. A bitterness lingers a little bit throughout the aftertaste. Feels crisp and clean. This brewery delivers another near flawless effort. Very delicious.
3.2 interesting aromatic note, but transiant, and otherwise not much in any catagory, light gold, no lacing, thin.
3.8 08/14/18 pottle from Trio in Nags Head. Pours with a thick white head that last forever. Really cool aroma of spruce and sweet malt. The flavor is perfectly balanced with medium bitterness. Very nice.
4.3 Probably the best beer I’ve tried from the Maine Beer Company, and certainly one of the better pale ales I’ve had in a while.
3.8 500ml bottle at home. Pours nearly clear brassy yellow with a full, slowly dissipating white head and good lacing. Pine and citrus flavors - orange, lemon, some mango, grassy and floral with background malt supporting but not starring. Soft carb and mouthfeel. Finish is lingering fruit with mild bitterness. Wonderful.
3.8 on tap at Crafty's in Northeast Phila - great candy aroma. Clear yellow color. Very nice light sweet tropical hop flavor.
3.6 Draft to snifter at The Pint Room. Looks good; a cloudy darker pineapple with fluffy white head that slowly dissipates into lacing. Smells of csndy and citrus with a bit of a floral presence alongside a moderately bittersweet backbone. Tastes like it smells with some grassiness as well. Mouthfeel is medium-light to medium-bodied and moderately bitter. Good, not great.
4.5 So many American brewers strive to make brash APAs and IPAs. While there isn't necessarily anything wrong with that, Maine stands out for practicing a high level of artistic restraint. All of their hoppy beers are things of balance and beauty. This Pale Ale is one of the most cohesive single-hop ales that I've tried. Goddamn is this smooth. It smells like lemon balm, verbena, and mandarin orange. Lemon candy flavors with some more subtle notes of tropical fruit. Creamy and luscious textures. While most hoppy beers have resinous zest that lingers, A Tiny Beautiful Something has a fresh, clean closer. You can't help but keep coming back to it.
3.0 Bottle. A- Soapy, lemon, mild lavender, citrus. A- Gold color, hazy liquid, white head. T- Citrus, mild bitterness, soapy. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- The first of 6 Maine beers tonight. Never thought I'd have a Maine night but when you have a friend who loves hoppy beers you surprise him with it. Not bad. Name sounds more like a saison to me. Pretty muted pale ale but balanced. Okay.
3.9 Cloudy cloud thin white lacy head Aroma is hoppy spicy woody Flava is rich hoppy spicy grainy notes herb Feels medium silky with decent foamy fizzy zing Finishes moderately bitter
4.5 This is really good
4.2 Hazy, golden color. Pine, citrus, grass, and malt in the aroma. Crisp bitterness in taste with malt on the background. Amazing beer, perfect balance between old and new.
3.9 (Bottle, dated 6/18/2018). Hazy straw colored body with a big, receding airy white head. Aroma of pale malt, pepper, lightly herbal and grassy. Medium bitterness; herbal and grass notes again; smooth and clean; grain. Light to medium body, very soft mouthfeel.
4.1 Bottle from Whole Foods Sacramento. Pours golden with an attractive white head and a floral aroma. There is a hearty pale malt flavor with with some citrus and a smooth moderately bitter finish. Extremely well-balanced.
3.6 Bottle from Healthy Spirits Castro. Golden color, white head. Bitter taste with citrus, hops, resin, mango, flowers and pine. Bitter finish with citrus, hops, resin, mango, pine and grass. Excellent APA.
3.5 Bottle: pours hazy golden amber with a foamy white head, aroma is grainy, taste is just lightly hoppy and grainy, solid pale ale but nothing special
3.9 Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow, with rather smallish head. Aroma is rather grassy, with some citrus and pine/spruce hop elements. Flavor also quite grassy, with a bitter, pine/spruce finish. Very nice, simple, spartan beer.
3.8 Draft. Poured a hazy golden color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with very good lacing. Moderate to heavy tropical citrus, floral and earthy malt aroma. Medium to abundant body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy complex bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy complex bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. My high expectations where met.
3.8 On tap at the Bar Harbor Beer Works. It poured a hazy golden color with a white head. The aroma was of citrus, tropical fruits, pine and florals. The taste was similar to the aroma with more citrus, tropical fruits, pine, florals and medium carbonation with a nice smooth aftertaste. Well done.
