Maisel & Friends Stefan's Indian Ale

Maisel & Friends Stefan's Indian Ale

My interpretation of a traditional India Pale Ale, with a pleasant dose of bitterness and a fresh, fruity taste. Inspiring and exotic. Surprises with citrus notes and floral nuances and finishes with hints of wild honey and caramelized malt.

Join me on an exciting journey through the world of flavors.

Yours,
Stefan Sattran

4.0 23.06.2019. 0,75l Bottle. Citti-Markt Flensburg. In a three-pack together with a glas. Golden colour with white head. Fresh aromas of lemon and orange. Notes of yeast. Bread and dough. Flavours the same. Yeast, bread and dough. Sharp with a strong body. Lots of alcohol as well. Pretty rich aftertaste with orange and good bitterness. Good one!
3.4 Аmber color, with good foam. Nose. Very bright. Tropical fruits. Sweet pineapple. When heated, malt appears in the notes of wine. Taste. Taste Malt, with notes of wine, and notes of tropical fruits. The finish is bittersweet.
2.8 Nevoní. Málo hořké. Celkem příjemná sladově medová chuť...
3.3 0,75 l bottle. Unclear red golden in the glass with an huge white frothy head. Floral hoppy smell. Taste starts also intensive floral hoppy with a pleasant bitterness. Constant until the aftertaste. Nice stuff.
3.6 A rich golden colour with a smallish head. The label says that English pale ales inspired this effort, and you're certainly not looking at an American-style IPA when you pour out a glass. The nose may be fruity, but there's as much raisin as citrus in it... and the aroma is also rather more restrained than in 80% of IPAs brewed today. The taste includes assertive, but not 'kicking' bitterness and ends on a very slightly sour note. It's refreshing, and it's a kind of IPA I rather like, verging on a premium bitter. It doesn't quite boast the juiciness of the very best English IPAs, but it has the depth. Of course, it lacks the exuberance of an American one. But that's not always a mistake.
3.3 Poors clear darker yellow, with big lacing foam head. Aroma is hoppy and floral, taste is modest bitter. Nice. (Velp 201811)
3.7 Very nice beer, not a pale ale in the american sense. But pull bodied and tastful In a european way. Zapfanalt
4.0 Nice bottle and very special for German beer. Dark amber cloudy beer with long stable cream-colored head, smell is tropical fruits, grapefruit, light after forests, taste is bitter but not too much, tropical fruits, hops are dominated, full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, very good balanced, long finish with bitterness, (I have 0.75l bottle with best-before 04.12.2019 and batch 17:27)
2.4 Bottled from a Getraenkemarkt in Aachen. Dark golden color with thick creamy head. Floral nose. Aroma is very vague, malts fruits and citrus hops. Flavour is dry sour bitter. This is not an IPA but a watery bitter.
3.5 Fles 75cl thuis. Hoppig, citrus, ook zoetig fruit, wat wrang. Wat vlak. (4-2014).
3.8 ON Tap at Zapfanstalt Dresden. Comes with a clear amber color and a nice white head. Nose is fruity malty with a touch of shortbread. Taste is well balanced, nice malts and hops, long lasting finish.
3.8 0.75l bottle from rewe in weil, 4.99€. pours an almost clear deep golden with a frothy head. aroma of spruce, flowers, herbs, tangerines. flavour of honey, oranges, flowers, wood, some alcohol burn. nice and very aromatic, an ipa with a german touch.
3.5 Bottle, pours hazy gold colour with thick white head, aromas of sweet malts, mild citrus and pine, medium carbonation, tastes of sweet malts, a touch tropical with bittersweet finish, average
4.9 Really pleasant experience, from the exterior of the bottle to the content themselves. The beer had very floral aromas and was extremely tasty, definitely one of the best IPA's I've enjoyed.
3.7 08-04-2018; bottle; at home (bought somewhere in Germany). The looks of the beer are nice. It looks like a real IPA. The color of the beer is a nice bright orange, and the beer is nice and clear. The orange color gives the beer a nice tropical touch. On top of the beer a nice thick layer of soft, white foam is formed. Foam retention is average, but a nice soft drape is left. The smell of the beer is very nice. It is quite an aromatic beer. There are some nice malty sweets, with a touch of honey and some caramel. On top of this there are orem lovely fruity hop aromas. I smell some exotic citrus fruit and zest, but also some floral notes. It is a nice tropical IPA, with some touches that remind me of a German beer. This balance is quite pleasant. The taste of the beer is very nice. There some nice and sweet malts forming a base, on top of which there are pleasantly bitter hops, with also a lovely refreshing sour note. This fruity sour really finishes the beer. The beer is well balanced. Palate of the beer is avarage. Medium body, smooth, medium carbonation. The finish is nice. It has some honey and caramel malts, but also some nice fruity and bitter hops. All in all, it is quite a fruity and nice IPA, with some German touches. Very nice.
3.4 Cloudy golden colour with medium lasting white head. Aroma of dough and fruit juces. Taste: Sweet short malty and fruity start with a medium bitter hoppy mouthfeel. Medium body with medium carbonation.
3.5 75 cl bottle served in red wine glass. It pours copperish amber with a fine lacing, short-lived, tan head. Aroma is quite intense: grapefruit, honey, mango, earth and dandelion. Mouthfeel is fizzy, strong and very bitter, with a slightly sweetish aftertaste along with the bitterness.
3.6 citrus, leaves, clear, amber, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, lightly sour,
3.2 Pours deep gold with a frothy white head. Aroma is restrained for an IPA—mildly fruity, a bit floral, hints of caramel. Taste is lightly bitter up front with the bitterness level growing at the finish. Dry throughout and mildly warming at the end. Body is medium with moderate carbonation. Overall okay but a bit below average for the style. Lacks bite and inspiration.
2.8 Bottle. Pours unclear golden. Aroma is butter, some citric and floral hops, little honey and pine. Body is medium, strongly candy sweet, with a really low hop profile. Leftover sugars and carbonation, that's whats in the mouth. Sweet palate. Feels like not completely fermented, meh.
3.5 Bottle shared by Albert. Pours a clear, bright gold color, with a huge, rocky, white head. Butterscotch, resin, honey, white bread, and roasted corn. Sweet and grainy, with a mild bitterness. Light body, with a creamy, effervescent, and silky mouthfeel. This is an aromatic, and very mellow IPA.
3.9 Nechápu celkové hodnocení piva- "jen" 70/100 ? Pro mě tato ipa splňuje na velmi dobrou všechny rysy tohoto pivního stylu. Barva oranžová až rubínová, bohaté ovocné aroma, silný říz, plná hořkosladká chuť a hustá krémová pěna. Super pivko!
3.4 Hazy amber with large white head. Aroma is canned peach slight coriander and curry and pine cone. Taste is less bitter than the average german ipa. Even some citrussy freshness. Bitter finish. Fruityness later. Not cloggy. Quite ok.
3.5 0.75 l bottle from local 'Trink & Spare', best before October 2019. Clear, dark amber with a medium large, frothy, stable, white head. Sweetish, fruity-resiny aroma of mango, orange jam, some pine and a touch of grapefruit. Rather sweet, malty, slightly bitter, fruity-resiny taste of orange jam, pine, some mango and a touch of honey, followed by a medium long, rather dry-bitter, resiny and a bit herbal finish. Medium body, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very solid IPA, pretty good for its price actually (€ 4.65 per l), I'd appreciate smaller bottles though. Wasn't easy to get a relatively fresh bottle by the way as they often spend several months or a year on the shelves in the local bottle shops.
3.6 0,75l bottle. Cloudy golden colour with medium lasting white head. Aroma: Peach, dough, fruit juces. Taste: Sweet short malty and fruity start with a medium bitter hoppy mouthfeel. The sip is a little bit alcoholic. Medium body with medium carbonation. Long a little bit sourish, bitter finish.
3.3 Pours a clear, pale amber coloration with a large, fluffy head and visible carbonation. Smell is dominated by sweet biscuity, caramel malt and honey, with some floral hops and just a hint of citrus and pine also coming through. Taste follows the nose, with a decent balance of sweet, caramel malt, honey and some quite floral, very slightly resinous hops, with somewhat faint accents of grapefruit and and pine and a distinct bitterness developing in the finish. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some caramel malt and honey lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and medium/strong carbonation. A decent English IPA if you prefer this style on the sweet and malty side, Not quite syrupy, but definitely too sweet for my personal taste. with the hops also failing to really make a distinct impression. There's some floral character here, as well as a good bitterness that just about manages to balance out the sweet malts, but I would have wished for some sharper citrus and pine notes, which are barely noticeable here. This may well be due to age though, as M&F choose to be quite secretive about their best-by dates, which is set unusually long for this beer, but god knows how long exactly.
