1.0Bottle: Straw yellow color, lots of clarity, only a mild chill haze with plenty of carbonation bubbles rising up to a frothy, stark white, fragile head. Aroma is like a bad lager mixed with pizza sauce. Oregano, basil, grain, & a slight metallic, steel-y note, almost with a hint of skunk on the back-end. Tomato-y, likely an influence of the aforementioned spices. Taste is similar... Strange. Oregano, basil, grain, sharp yeast, faint skunk.... Getting that metallic twinge again. Prego mixed with Coors? Eh, the novelty can only carry it so far. I love pizza sauce but I don’t want to drink it.
2.7Bottle @ Chriso’s pre-GBBF Shindig. The pour’s gold with a small head. Strong oregano nose. Combos pizza snacks. More oregano flavors. Tomato water. A touch grainy. Light body, soft carbonation. Overall, definitely strange, but not a bad gimmick.
2.9The beer it's self is average, but the taste of basil and oregano is the dominate flavors. The beer is clean with an herb flavor that lingers all the way. The tomato and garlic is ever so subtle barley noticeable.
3.1The aroma is malty and watery with oregano. The appearance is deep gold. The taste has all the pizza elements. The palate is thin. Overall this is quite good.
1.5Bottle from Wrye, thanks? ;) Pours a medium red with off white head. Aroma is oregano and tomato sauce forward. Taste is very pizza like with the oregano and spices really overwhelming the palate. Slight bitter and some sort of off flavored meat. Not pleasant.
2.7Great and surprising pizza aroma. With tomato, oregano and even cheese. Very light body, lager like base. Pretty cool concept beer but that’s it.
2.7Bottle 1pt. @ [ (chriso Pre-GBBF Shindig) by chriso - London ].
Clear medium yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, tomato, spicy, pizza, oregano, salami - pepperoni. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130810]
2.6Backlog: 500ml bottle from Half Time Beverage Poughkeepsie NY. Pours a hazy orange color with a small foamy white head. Pizza-ish aroma. Very herbal, oregano, basil, garlic cloves, and hints of malt and tomatoes. Taste is similar. Mostly lots of Italian herbs, malty, not much tomato, and hints of toasted garlic. Very strange, but surprisingly drinkable.
2.9Bottle: thanks to andrewmb83. Aroma: rather malty, I do smell pizza, but not sure if its my brain playing tricks. I smell mostly malts. Appearance: pretty light with a thin white head. Taste: again, I don’t know if it is a trick but I taste pizza. Tastes mostly of malts but I do get a basil and oregano flavor as well. Palate: light bodied, soft carbonation. Overall: glad I got to try it. Great idea.
2.3Bottle. Clear golden color, medium white head. Aroma is like snorting oregano, with other herbal spice in the background. Taste is mixed herbs, light bread. Interesting gimmick.
2.3500 ml. bottle. Pours a hazy gold with a decent white head. Aroma of oregano, basil, and garlic. Taste is the same. Didn’t get much tomato. Guess it would make a good ingredient. Can’t say the same for drinking.
2.7This was an interesting beer, oragano and light tomato aroma, taste was pretty mild with a nice pizza finish, not bad, will try again with pizza!
2.2Taste pretty much how you would think. A lot of oregano, garlic and tomato paste flavors. Overall though pretty watered down. Not the best but it is interesting.
2.1500mL thanks to Jake! Pours a hazy light orange, medium to low white foam with no retention. Nose is stale, sticky orange candies. Mild butterscotch. Taste is mostly butterscotch, water. Bland, drained. Not much flavor at all here.
2.9Pours clear dark golden color with white head. Aromas of oregano, basil and garlic. Similar flavors. Medium body with average carbonation. I was very surprised with this one. Was expecting a drain pour and it wasn’t that bad. I’ve had a lot worse "craft beers".
1.5Pours a cloudy ugly amber with minimal head. Nose is oregano, tomato, garlic. Honestly smells like tomato sauce. Taste is very herbal with oregano, garlic, and tomato, almost salty. The bottle doesn't lie it tastes like pizza. Not very good, but worth a try.
3.1Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013, 10/08/13.
Clear golden with a thin off white covering.
Nose is herbs, grass, oregano, tomato, light citrus.
Taste comprises toasted malts, grass, light citrus, cereals, herby pizza topppings - yup!
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finish.
Does what it says on the tin - not sure I could manage a while bittle though!
2.9Bottle at CGBD. Pours hazy and gold, with a white head. Tons of oregano on a pale malts base. Lighter notes of garlic and other generic spices. Nowhere near as horrible as I thought it would be.
3.110th August 2013
ChrisO’s Pre GBBF ’Are You Scottish?’ tasting. Light haze on this gold beer, little white head. Big oregano pizza nose! Light palate, semi dry. Touches of fennel and mellow citrus (maybe basil). A fun beer but I think more could be made of it. Check Shorts Bloody Mary.
2.9Bottle that I shared at Campground Brewdown 2. Sorry everyone. Pours a mostly clear gold with a thin white head. Tons of oregano on the nose. Overpowering at first and it wasn’t until this warmed a little in the glass that I got the light tomato and then big garlic. Medium bodied, light carbonation, soft grain. Oregano, soft sweet grain. Light malt. Not a lot of complexity, but lots of oregano and garlic.
2.4hahahahahahahah!!!!! this thing smells like vomit. like pizza vomit. like gross disgusting pizza vomit. i made it through almost a whole sample. fuck you.
3.0Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2013. Big thanks to Jack for this massive want! It pours hazy golden with a small white head. The nose is the epitome of pizza...juicy tomato and oregano. The taste is dough, grassy, herbal, faint tomato and straw with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Taste doesn’t quite live up to the crazy aroma... Fun to try nonetheless.
3.1Bottle at RBSG (Hotel room). Pours golden with a thin white head. Aroma is pizza pepperoni and sauce. Taste more pizza. Palate thin and dry. Crazy beer!
3.1Slightly hazy amber pour. White head. Nose is oregano and a whiff of olive oil. Nose is much nicer than the taste. Still, very interesting and it works fairly well for what it is.
3.0At Chriso pre GBBF Shindig 2013. Oregano flavoured beer. I liked it. Not a great beer but I like oregano
2.850 cl bottle. Pours cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is basil and herbal. Spiced, herbal, oregano and thyme, basil. Bitter and toasted malty finish.
1.9I’ve been waiting for this moment all my (beer) life. We just got this in Tampa and I couldn’t resist. Pours a hazy orange gold with a thin white head. Aroma of tomato, oregano and basil. Smells like a pizza. Tastes of garlic
Tomato, basil and oregano. This hits what they are going for, too ad this is a very bad idea. It’s everything I hoped it would be, awful.
1.3Tasted from a bottle at a tasting in mid-2012, this was a fun find at an otherwise serious tasting. Pours clear golden with a thin white head that left a thin collar of lace. The nose is very strange with basil, tomato sauce, and doughy malt. It really smells like a pizza. The beer tastes almost exactly like a cheap frozen pizza. The body is light with fizzy carbonation and a long basil and tomato finish.
2.9Pours a slightly cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma and Taste of sweet oregano, pizza dough, yeast, with a bit grains and light fruity notes. Palate is a medium body, fairly smooth with mild carbonation. Finishes with a pizza dough, oregano, yeast flavor. Reminds me of a margherita tomato pizza, I actually enjoyed this brew.
2.5Now, this was the beer of the night at Denise’s party, because the whole gang thought it was ridiculous and some labelled it a drain pour. RB doesn’t think too highly of it either. I was alone in the view that it wasn’t that bad, and that it deserves a couple of points for creativity. It had an aroma of oregano and garlic, and seemed like a typical pale lager but with some pizza flavors added.
