3.8On tap at the brewpub. Lightly hazy, dark orange-golden in color and with a small, off-white head. Pine cones, peaches, citrus peel, orange and some malty sweetness in the aroma. Some sweetness in the flavor, but with sufficient bitterness. Peaches, citrus peel and some orange too. Resins. Full body, soft and pleasantly carbonated. Long and nice finish. A lovely ipa indeed. 130806
4.0Pours a muted orange with a one finger off white head with nice lacing. Aroma is of citrus, pine, tropical fruits, and sweet malts. Taste is similar to the aroma. Has a medium body with a slightly cream mouthfeel and a semi dry, moderately bitter, medium long finish. Overall, a pretty tasty IPA.
3.7On tap at the brewery. Pours a pale brown color with a bit of head. Full hop flavor yet mild in the bitterness.
3.1Nice citrus flavour, well matched bitterness. Good hoppy punch
Nice citrus flavour, well matched bitterness. Good hoppy punch
4.1Pours hazy copper with medium frothy white head
Lovely Aromas of hoppy citrusy fruits, caramel malts,
Taste is very well balanced with caramel body and hoppy fruityness. Nice!
4.5A truly great bear. Great color great flavor. Tastes great feels good in your mouth. Everything is great about this beer.
3.4Pours a hazy medium brown with a nice white head that goes down quickly. Aroma of citrus, hops and a bit of malty carmel. Nice hop flavor but also a bit of wheat undertones. Not quite as crisp in the mouth as some IPAs but still fairly easy drinking. With all of the great IPAs out there right now this probably isn’t the best of the style, but it’s definitely not bad either.
4.0In short: A classic golden session fruity IPA of superior quality.
How: Bottle 22oz. consumed very fresh, a week or two after being purchase directly at the brewpub. Tasting session with Montreal friends.
The look: Cloudy golden body topped by a small off-white head.
In long: Nose has a smooth inviting character of refreshing fruits and grassy hops over a smooth toastiness. Taste has very nice toasted cereals, a smooth caramel flavor, plenty of juicy fruity hops (citrus fruits mainly), a tasty bitterness that is round and smooth. Everything is smooth in this beer, nothing aggressive here, this is however a tasty beer, a superior tasty session IPA. I’d drink gallons of this beer. Another world-class IPA from the west-coast, sometimes I’m jealous of people living on the west-coast, but then I look at my watch and it is 1pm here and realizes that it only 10am on the west coast and I’m like “Get over it west-coast, stop living in the past!”
3.6Strong fruity taste rusty back flavor and a beauty white head. Good beer not for hop haters.
3.8My Bottom Line:
Leafy, citrusy hop resins top cuddly cereal sugars in this very satisfying rendition of the West Coast’s signature style.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy sheet of foam garnishes the misty amber.
-The resinous hop bitterness is gripping, but leveled to the rest of the brew’s meidum-high intensity.
-Carbonation feels soft and natural, which doesn’t impede on the aromatics at play.
-Malts don’t offer much apart from a few sugary flavors, but that was to be expected.
Bottle.
3.9Draft at the brewpub. Pours a clear orange-gold with a small but resilient off-white head. Aroma of sweet and caramel malts complement orange and grapefruit citrus, pine, and flowers. Flavor of orange, grapefruit peel, apricot, pine resin, caramel, biscuit, and a bit of floral notes. Medium-bodied, with a juicy, resinous mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Excellent IPA. Not quite White Knuckle, but right there.
3.8Draft at the brewery. Hazy deep gold and light head. Aroma is mild floral and cherry for some reason. Taste is peach, grass and nice hop bouquet. Love the peach and malt bill here. Nice single IPA.
4.4Oh, my! Tis good. Tis very freakin’ good. Huge floral boquet of hops. Deep flavor of malts, with fantastic bitterness. A slight reddish hue with this white head, but does leave stickly lacing. Excellent!
4.1Draft at Q, in San Francisco. Pours clear orange, moderate cream coloured head, great lacing. Nose is creamy with soft and gentle lifted citrus notes. Thai-scented ginger, tea, cold cream, rosewater. Flavours of juicy grapefruit, navel and mandarin oranges, fresh dairy cream, spruce, ginger, and light limestone/chalk. This is a feminine, delicate and utterly delicious IPA. I have a strong feeling that this travels very badly, and finding this in perfect shape is a bit akin to unicorn hunting. Just a wonderful surprise!
3.5Tap at Marin. Orange pour with a clingy small white head. Nose is grapefruit and caramel malt. Same in the taste, plus a bit of pine resin. Moderate palate. Nice brew.
3.2Pint at brewpub. Ok aroma,.sweet. orange and pine, clean brownish orange, small head, minor lace. Bittersweet flavor. Medium body creamy mouthfeel, bitterdry finish. Again ok, flavorful enough, but weak for area.
3.7Bottle from a trade with cbkschubert. Pours cloudy burnt orange color with off white head. Pine, citrus, and caramel aromas and flavors. Moderate bitterness. Medium body with average carbonation. Thanks Craig.
3.022oz bottle. Rating #203. Hazy bright orange pour with a beige head. Light pine with some sweet citrus. Mild bitterness with a little caramel malt and a moderate bitterness. (2276)
4.3On tap at streets of London for beer week! Aroma is very nice, floral hops, grapefruit and citrus. Flavor reminds me of pliney! Smooth bitterness, with a balanced maltiness. Oily and thick. Nice medium head with lacing down the glass.
3.6Aroma gives off light grapefruit and citrus with moderate floral hops. Appearance is a slightly dark amber color with a medium foam top. Taste contains light malts with a mild, leafy hop bitterness. Very smooth and crisp texture with a very small hint of grapefruit on the finish. Overall, this is a pretty solid brew with nice flavoring (primarily malt and hops). It contains a mild bitter bite with a nice smooth texture. Overall I’d give this a B+ rating.
4.0IPA bordering on DIPA. I let it warm some out of the fridge and it poured with an amazingly slow to settle, foamy, super frothy, fluffy, Iight, off-white head and loads of clingy lace. Color is a slightly hazy apricot. Aroma is bread dough, hop, yeast, malt, resin. Flavor is similar to nose with some up front sweetness, followed by bitter, cracker, fruit, resin and slight tang. Body is good and carbonation somewhat soft. Finish is like flavor with resin lasting longest and no alcohol. Good brew.
4.8This is an amazingly smooth IPA. I first had it with pizza in Fremont, CA, and fell so in love with this beer that shortly after I drove to Marin/Larkspur just to have it at the brewery! It’s a great IPA, if you get the chance to try it, don’t pass it up.
3.8On cask at Toronado in SF.
A: Ruddy, light amber body. Tight, medium head. Moderate retention, spotty lacing.
S: Grapefruit, lemon, orange. Lightly bitter. Some caramel malt.
T: More of the same. Very mellow hop character rides on top of a subtle malt base. Mostly grapefruit here.
M: Smooth, creamy. Mellow finish with not much of a bite.
O: A very nice cask IPA good amount of flavor with a nice feel on the palate.
3.1Medium bodied IPA that has a grapefruit bitterness to it. Has a lingering dry finish. Not a great IPA.
3.6Bomber from BevMo in Pasadena, CA. Pours a hazy amber with orange highlights under a medium off-white head. Aroma of grapefruit and pine resin. More citrus (orange, grapefruit), herbs, bittersweet chocolate and vanilla in the flavor. Sturdy and unobtrusive malt backbone. Silky texture. Quick, dry and pleasingly bitter finish.
3.2bottle 11/26/10.
orange-y brown color with a medium sized white head.
it smells and tastes... a little dank, citrus, some roast, caramel, pine and earthy hops. there’s a mild bitterness on the finish. medium bodied. meh. 6/3/6/3/14
3.9Tasted on 5/18/11 from a 650mL bomber bottle purchased at Sun Devil. Pours hazy orange-amber with a thick white head that slowly recedes to a bubbly spotty layer of lace. The nose is hoppy with spruce, pine resin, hints of cinnamon and caramel, and a solid amount of caramel malt. The flavor is spruce and resin hops bitter along with a very heavy mid-palate featuring weighty vanilla, caramel, and cinnamon, and finishing with very nice bitterness. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long caramel malt and spruce bitter hops finish.
2.8golden yellow, clear w/ steady bubbles
very hoppy nose. primarily nettle hops w/ some pink grapefruit citrus.
thin/med body and very fizzy
this is a pretty mellow and balanced hoppy IPA. it is primarily stemy/nettly hops with citrus grapefruit hop as a close contender.
3.2Hazy orange yellow with large foamy head... Aroma is lemon zest.... Flavor is lemony, citrus, light caramel malts... Gentle citrus hop finish... Very lemony and acidic all around.... Decent
3.9A tasty brew that pours a dingy copper color with a lasting head. Smells fresh with some mild biscuiting. Medium nectar with ample effers. Tight in flavor with a light malty backbone. Hops seem acidic rather than citrusy. Finishes dry. Not bad but not great.
