Marston's EPA (Bottle)

Marston's EPA (Bottle)

Bottle: Filtered
"English Pale Ale"
Hops: Cascade and Styrian
Zingy, smooth and always exceptional. Marston’s EPA is a light blonde ale with subtle citrus flavours and a delicate aftertaste. Now that’s refreshingly different.

1.9 EPA, amère, belle robe brune caramel, carbonatation plutôt élevée, peu sucrée, pointe d'acidité, léger goût d'agrumes
3.6 the aroma: fruity, herbal, hints of citrus, flowers, grasses and grain... the taste: fruity, floral, notes of bitter citrus, grass hop, flowers, herbs... the aftertaste: bitter and dry...
3.1 Old rating from 21-02-15 - 500ml bottle, pours golden with a white head. Aromas & tastes of caramel, earth, toffee, cereal & malt. Moderate body. Light bitter finish.
2.8 A great golden coloured ale. Light on flavour and hoppiness. Could have done with a bit more depth.
2.3 Birra English pale ale acquistata alla Lidl. Discreto aroma fruttato, ma al palato risulta decisamente sottotono, poco corpo e poco gusto, simile ad una IPA annacquata. Non la ricomprerei.
2.1 0.5l bottle from Lidl. Starts with running head. Body is pale yellow. Aroma is mild citrus, also fusty in the background. Fruity taste, sour and even a bit salty, with persistent bitter aftertaste. Moderate carbonation, yet somehow fizzy. Watery body. Not a harmonic composition, no malt at all, unpleasant sourish aroma and taste.
2.9 Bottle. Golden coloured beer with a light head. The aroma is toffee and hopped, and the flavour is mildly bitter and hopped with some toffee. Overall an average beer.
2.3 Bottle bought on special offer from Sainsburys. Low ABV . I found it quite hoppy but started to enjoy it towards the end. Good session ale.
2.1 Bottle in the dark. Malt and plastic aroma, mild bitterness, mild malty bitterness in the mouth. Light body, a bit flattish, a bit stale finish.
3.0 Bottle. Rather clear amber-golden color with white head. Aroma is earthy, toffee, mild fruitiness. Taste is toffee, earthy, cereals, classic English flavours. Silky mouthfeel with fine-bubbled carbonation. Alright!
3.6 0,5l bottle. Clear golden colour with quickly disappearing white head. Aroma: Vegetables, honey and flourish notes with a hint of caramel. Taste: Has a quite malty start with a quite bitter fresh hoppy mouthfeel. Medium body with fizzy carbonation. Medium lasting bitter/sour finish.
2.5 Elég semmilyen, még vízesnek sem mondanám. Kicsit erőltetett komlossag de figyelve arra nehogy a nagyüzemiség rovására menjen.
3.2 50cl bottle at home (15 VIII 2020), as Marston's English Pale Ale. White fresh and crispy collar on top of a clear to somewhat hazy golden brew. Bits of leaves and herbs, together with malts and bread features. In the nose also some unpleasant mandarine orange and earthy honey notes. The mouthfeel is very pleasant, with a bitter body and enjoyable carbonation, beautiful hoppy flavours for a mild 3.6 percent ABV. There is some fruityness in there as well, dominantly oranges or citrus. Few earthy and malt dashes are present as well. Light sweet, A good quencher during these summer days, faint butterscotch. Some ginger at the finish. Nothing bad really!
2.6 Typisches bitter, wenig karbonisiert, etwas wässrig. Hopfennoten präsent.
3.7 Pours clear gold with small white head, Distinctly noble and sweet aroma, light palate, clean and crisp bitterness
3.5 500ml bottle brewed in England at 3.6%. Clear copper with a smallish shortlasting head. Orange citrus aroma with some bread and honey. Low carbonation. Orange citrus from the Cascade with some fruity leafiness from the Styrian - a good combo, although I dunno how 'English' it is; seeming more of a hybrid of EPA and APA. Kingsmill 50/50 malt with a honeyed characteristic underneath. All goes well together, in typical Marston's style, being refreshing and flavourful, if not exactly 'great beer'. For an inexpensive widely-available supermarket bottled offering, at a mere 3.6%. ABV, this is actually well worth picking up. It certainly offers more than, say, John Smith's.
2.7 Bottle. Clear golden with white head. The aroma has notes of white bread, grains, honey, some earthy hips. The flavor is mild sweet and mild bitter with notes of grains, earthy, citrus peels, earthy, some lemon. Medium-bodied.
3.2 Bottle, stable bubbly foamy head, clear gold to bronze color, floral, malty, citrusy, fruity, medium empathic flowery bitterness. Nice and drinkable.
2.1 0.5 bottle. Carbonated medium gold, pure color. Not very durable head. Light, grassy scent. Slightly watery sip, quite carbonated, bitterness okay, slightly medicinal aftertaste. It was disembodied what they tried to make with carbonic acid into an easy drinking beer. *** Szénsavasnak kinéző közép arany, tiszta szín. Nem túl tartós hab. Könnyed, füves illat. Picit vizes korty, elég szénsavas, keserűség rendben, picit gyógyszeres utóíz. Testetlen, amit a szénsavval próbáltak könnyű ivósörré tenni. Az is.
3.2 Bottle BBE in 11 months. Pours gold, clear with small head. Fruity citrus aroma. Moderate carbonation although a little watery. Taste of citrus, pine, malt, and a grainy hoppy bitter end. Metallic notes are present if drank from the bottle, this is definitely one you need to air and swirl from a glass. Balance is good. A nice session ale which is better than most lagers. There’s nothing spectacular here but sometimes simplicity is what you need.
3.2 500ml bottle from Sainsbury’s, Epsom. Pours clear golden with a white head. Aroma of malt and biscuit. Similar taste. Bitter finish. Solid for the price.
2.9 Bottle. Clear golden, persistent creamy head. Aroma is grainy, earthy, a bit skunky and soapy. Sweetish, grainy, metallic, butterscotch, herbs, bitter finish. Medium-bodied, soft carbonation.
2.2 50cl fles van Lidl. Goudgeel, witte kraag. Aroma is typisch Burton, zwavelig en garnish, beetje natte zweetsokken/kippenmestgeurtje, heel licht citrus. Smaak is vlak, waterig, granig, iets van toast, citrus. Zeer matig allemaal.
3.0 cheap price
3.3 Flesje gedronken bij B. en H. en gedeeld met Tomhendriksen. Goudgeel, licht troebel bier met matig schuim dat als een film blijft liggen. Aroma is fruitig.
2.0 Aroma : Lightly toasted sweet caramel malt, indistinct light citrus & light floral notes. Taste : As nose. Not unpleasant just very boring!
3.6 Poured from a bottle into an Ikea large beer glass. Not a lot of head, but a delightful golden colour. Slightly citrus smell of hops. Taste is good for a session ale; starts with a slight bitterness, an undercurrent of malt and then a lingering bitterness at the end. An good beer for any one who appreciates the taste of traditional pale ale. When I bought a few bottles the other the day, the old gentleman at the cash registers said, "You like the old style, this is a good one." He was right.
2.9 Bought at City Super for altogether too much. I found it to be very light and slightly bland. Grapefruit and pine were the abiding feature...It has that English pub quality to it. Great in summer. Re-reviewed and upgraded.
3.0 Bottle from Lidl. Pours clear golden with a lasting, thin, foamy, white head. Aroma of yeast, apple peel, grapefruit, mandarin. Taste has bitter grapefruit, pine, yeast, soft sweetish maltiness, touch of sour citrus. Dry, piney hoppy finish, more grapefruit peel & apple. Light to medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. At least it doesn't feel industrial. Refreshing.
