3.2 12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy yellow to orange with a small white head. Aroma is dry, grassy and phenolic to estery. Sweet, mild citric and mild toasted malty. Bitter and slight herbal into the finish.
3.4 Can shared at chriso’s pre-Christmas tasting 2014 - London. Pours hazy yellow with a creamy white head. Bready wheat is the word here, with some lemon peel and lightly bitter hay. Light in body with average carbonation. Moderate sweetness at the exit, with a bit of sugary wheat, straw. Simple enough but tasty and drinkable.

3.5 Can at home. Pours hazy yellow, nose is floral, lemon, taste is fruity lemon, sweet, dry.
3.4 Bottle shared at chriso’s winter tasting 7/12/2014. Pale yellow / straw coloured pour with a fleeting white head. Aroma is fresh lemon grass, light lemon grass / straw. Flavour is composed of pale straw / light earthy, straw. A little staleing. Palate is moderate carbonation, little crisp, pale grains, Pretty refreshing. with a little bit of lemon.
3.6 Can. Light yellow pour with light head. Light citrus, lemongrass, herbal and yeast aromas. Grassy, citrus, lemongrass, and lighter floral and yeast flavors.
3.4 Canned (in 2013!). Nose is lemon and lemongrass, very clean and crisp citrus with floral undertones, and that Nelson, though faded, is still sublime. Pale yellow with strong carbonation and a noisy, fizzy, soapy bright white head. Tart and lightly acidic taste, low bitterness with faint rubber astringency in the finish, sweet but not to excess, coats with a chalky feel. Semi-soft medium body with touch of sour wheat, lightly herbal and very refreshing.
3.6 "Well, Maui really knows how to make a summer refresher with local ingedients. And Lost Abbey, for all their issues, does farmhouse/saision pretty well, so this is a good fit. Light and refreshing yet complex aroma. Wheaty, a little light fruit, lemongrass, very subtle belgian spice. The flavor is really nice. Spot on. Finishes dry. Another I’ll get again."
3.4 Clear yellow color with fleeting white head. Bready, grassy, dry spice, dry hay aromas. Medium body with average carbonation. Lemongrass, dry hay, dry spice flavors with apricot, tropical fruits___lightly bitter finish---good.
3.4 Pour from a can. Very clear slightly golden yellow with a white head. Aroma is lemongrass, lemon zest, bread. Light bodied, hint of stickiness on the mouthfeel, lightly malty on the palate to start with a slightly fruity dry finish. Flavours are lemongrass, sourdough, lemon zest, peach stone, dry white wine.
3.0 Pours a slightly cloudy golden color with white head. Lemon grass is present on the nose, along with some citrus and funky notes; follows onto the palate.
2.8 Cans from Bob’s I drank my first couple of cans quite cold and in tulip glasses. They were tolerable if a bit sticky-sweet and a bit over-the-top with the banana esters in an American saison sort of way. I drank my third at closer to cellar temperature (out of a cooler) straight from the can by the pool in Leavenworth and it was darn near undrinkable. Hopelessly sweet, cloying, nearly undrinkable. I’d have gone about 3.4 for the first couple of cans, about 2.3 for this one. That’s a big differential and I’m puzzled why it struck me so differently on different occasions.
4.3 Oh, my that’s pleasant. This should be served on warm sunny days, on a porch, all the time. It is so easy to drink, with lots of wonderful wheat, oats and pilsner malts, in a gorgeous saison body and some of the best hops around. But wait, you read correctly, there’s yummy refreshing lemongrass as well! I loved this beer.
3.1 Can from State line Liquors. Pours cloudy looking like pineapple juice with a half inch of white foam. Leaves a bit of lacing in the glass. There’s a faint whiff of lemongrass on the nose. There’s a bit of funk on the tongue. Finishes clean. Kind of boring considering the talent involved.
3.4 Can. Pours a hazy golden color with a smallish white head on there. Nose is fairly citrusy, with only small amounts of funk to it. Taste is slightly sour, yet light and fairly refreshing. Only issue is that I don’t really get anything I would identify as lemongrass in there...
3.8 Clear golden coloured body with a one centimetre tall white head. Aroma of wheat, grass, hay, lemons, herbs, sage, funk and of course, pure lemongrass. Light-bodied; Herbal flavour with the lemongrass front and centre with a large yeast and bready note, some airy and floral hop notes with a very minimal malt backbone, making it light and airy, especially with all of the herbs. Aftertaste shows a dry, spicey character perhaps from the yeast that lends itself nicely to a warm day, but makes the beer refreshing. Overall, no sweetness at all, but that was to be expected - a hit of herbs and light floral spices and it shows nicely, especially when showcased as a saison. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Olive Tree Market Place in San Diego, California on 07-June-2013 for US$2.99 sampled at home in Washington on 24-April-2014.
3.3 Poured from a 12 ounce can. Pours a very clear yellow. The aroma is fruity, phenolic, sweet honey, slight mint. The flavor is fruity, grainy, very soft citrusy notes. Not bad. This is yeast driven and a refreshing beer.
3.8 Easy to drink. Good beer for a hot summer day. Opaque and a bright yellow color. Bought in a can at Grape & Gourmet.
3.7 Delicious brew with a nice Pour. Flavor is light lemongrass, but very smooth and light on the palate.
3.7 Can. Color hazy yellow with small white head. Aroma lemon, yeast. Taste wheat, citrus, yeast.
3.1 Can, Cave, Glasgow. Hazy yellow pour with a middling white head. Lemony nose with vague spice. Sweetish flavour with more lemon plus some grass, yeast and spice notes. Dryish finish with a little tartness. Drinkable but nowt special.
3.4 From a can. Pours a cloudy gold with a white head. Nose of citrus and funk. Medium body. Flavor is lemon and earth . The finish is funky. Nice.
3.1 Appearance: cloudy bright yellow color, nice white foamy head that is really dense Aroma: citrus, some funk, sour Taste: lemon, citrus, funkier smelling than it taste, sweetness, very appetizing Palette: bitter towards, lots of carbonation on tongue, very alive tasting Overall: the smell throws me off but the taste of this beer is quite nice
3.9 aroma - has that good saison yeasty, doughy smell. not overly pungent. light banana, almost starfruit. color - hazy & sparkling blonde, very minimal head taste - lightly sweet, not bitter or sour (but subtle citrus/grassy) palate - light body, soft carbonation, creamy, finishes quick w/ lemongrass notes I enjoyed this beer - a solid saison, but interesting with the lemongrass notes. would certainly buy more, though it didn’t completely knock my socks off. Go C-Unit!
3.9 Appearance: beer pours a very hazy light yellow color, has lots of haze and chunks in it, head is tall but fluffy and shrinks fast Aroma: funky, lemon, bread, wild, very aromatic Taste: strong lemon, has a bit of wildness to it, some tart, slightly sour, also has a sweetness to it Palate: light body, high carbonation, minimal aftertaste Overall: this is a really good smelling and tasting beer, I like the low abv on a saison so you don’t get so much of the alcohol taste, you can smell this across the room
3.0 Poured from can to glass. Hazy straw with white head. Aroma is acidic, funky, yeasty, sugar, esters, citrus, lemongrass, pepper. Mouthfeel is really nice with a light body and high carbonation. Taste is sweet with a slight astringent finish and CO2 sharpness. Overall, this is a bit too yeasty but all in all alright.
3.1 Can picked up at Bier Thirty in Bown last week sometime... Enjoyed tonight after a long day on the clock... Pours a slight hazy glowing straw golden... short lasting white head leaves decent lacing in the wake. Aromas are pretty traditional Belgian spicy phenols and some expected lemongrass... some bready pale maltiness... Flavor pretty much mirrors the nose perfectly... perhaps a bit too much residual maltiness IMO, but it isn’t a deal breaker.. lemongrass/citrus zest lingers long on the finish. Body seems heavy for a 5% saison, but a good carbonation helps scrub the palate... pretty drinkable despite being a bit burpy. Good beer... Not sure I would buy it again, but it is always cool to find a saison in a can.
2.9 Partially cloudy straw colored beer with a fizzy white head that disappears quickly. Somewhat sweet nose of white sugar, lemon, and herbs. Taste is definitely sweet up front followed some citrus and sweeter fruits (mango?), topped off by a bit of spice. With perky carbonation, this is a refreshing beer and paired well with the spicy curry I was eating, but it’s not something I would drink on its own due to the unbalanced sweetness.
2.5 355ml can. hazy orange color, no head. aroma is doughy with some lemons. taste is similar with light floral fruits. fizzy.
