Mc CHOUFFE is an unfiltered brown beer which is refermented both in the bottle and in barrels. Its fruity bouquet conceals a hint of bitterness.

3.6Dark but not dark strong
3.7Murky amber/cider color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of sweet malt, yeast, fruit, & spice; Flavor of slight sweet malt, yeast, caramel, dark fruit (notably plums), spice, and some chocolate notes; Fairly dry finish; Nicely balanced and complex; Good overall.
3.0In Nase und Trunk schön malzig, mittig ein Hauch Schokolade, gute Drinkability für 8 Umdrehungen. Nix besonderes, aber auch nicht verkehrt.
4.1It pours brown with a tan head. Head retention is good. There are some caramel qualities in the aroma with some strong dried cherry and raisins and perfume notes. It has a spicy quality to it with a bit of clove as well. In addition there are some slight vinous like qualities. There are raisins and dried cherries up front with caramel malt. It has some floral and spicy elements with a bit of clove. It has a medium full body and is smooth with noticeable, but pleasant alcohol warming. Overall, a favorable and well bended beer with several layers of complex elements.
4.5Seasoned, on the sweeter side
4.5Brown sugar. Caramel. Yeasty. Dark fruits. Nutty. Licorice. Light toasted malts. Mild bitter finish. Oily mouthfeel. Boozy and satisfying. Solid belgian dark ale.
3.7Butik Trappisten i Hillerød.
3.7Mørk malt øl med god kraftig smag
3.6Media pinta @ Seven Beers, Zaragoza. Color cobrizo. Espuma abundante con retención media. Aroma a caramelo, frutos secos y un punto a regaliz. Sabor dulce, un poquito especiado, maltas tostadas y caramelo. Licorosa.
3.2De color rojizo, con una densa espuma de buena retención. De cuerpo y carbonatación media. Aroma a malta y caramelo. En boca es dulce, con notas tostadas y un final bastante seco.
3.8330ml bottle at home from a local store. Pours a hazy, very dark brown reddish color with medium beige head. Aroma is malt, yeast, dark fruits, some caramel. Taste is sweet and warm with hints of malt, dark fruits, sugary, caramel, licorice, nuts, yeast, some spices, toasty notes. Very warm and nice 8% abv, pleasant and very easy to drink. Easy finish. Medium body and good carbonation. May be just a bit too sweet at times, but i'm really enjoying this one overall. Well done.
3.7Bottle from Liquor Mountain. Nose of dark fruit, prunes, raisins, dried cherries, dark sugar, and light alcohol fumes. Opaque dark reddish brown, translucent edges, and one finger of rocky foam. Flavors are similar to aroma -- but at three-quarter strength -- not as rich. Dark fruit, anise, brown sugar. Scottish themed art on label, but the beer is not at all Scottish. Tasty, mildly rich and warming.
3.6Bottle. 8.0%. Best before 01.22. Pours a hazy/murky, dark amber/light chestnut brown, with a big, light tan head. Good lacing. Sweetish aroma, with dark-ish fruits, a bit overripe. Light yeast note, and metallic overtone. Spicy hints, light dusty overtone as it warms. Flavour is fruity, a bit overripe, with a sugary hint. Light malt in the background. Metallic note as it warms. Bitter finish, with a mild alcohol burn. Fruit, yeast, light caramel malt. Lingering grassy note. Overall fairly good. 24.02.21.
3.8The dark gnome. Very dark ruby color, with an abundant and long-lasting slightly beige head. The aroma is characterized by scents of caramel, berries, chestnut and vague chocolate. The taste is quite clean and full of brown sugar caramel, dark fruits, nuts, bitter cocoa and vague toasted notes, with a modest final bitterness of a herbaceous-woody nature. The body tends to be full, with an adequate carbonation and alcohol that emerges only on the finish to warm the drink. Overall an excellent beer, perfectly in line with the reference style, perhaps lacking only a few little more refined notes in the organoleptic characteristics.
3.2Ok, vanilla envelope strong dark Belgian ale.
3.5Aroma: Fruity sweet with caramel and yeast.
Flavour: Sweet malt amd fruity with caramel. Aftertaste is malty sweet.
Colour: Brown with an offwhite head.
2.9Lekker donker bier met een lekker “bittertje”
Enigszins kruidig maar niet te
2.8Saisondoft. Saisonsmak. Fruktig och lite beska.
3.6Bottle in Chouffe glass. Dark Ruby brown with thick foamy head. Smells like a malty brown ale. Tastes like a brown ale with some fruity notes and mild bitterness in there as the commercial label indicates. Dry finish. Decent brown but there are better versions out there.
3.7Bottle, 0.75l. Murky deep brown pour, slight amber hue. Two finger frothy off-white head, medium lasting. Good retention, sticky lacing on the glass as it goes down. Very nice on the nose, malty, nutty, dark fruits, hints of caramel and chocolate.
Medium body, lively carbonation. Fizzy, prickly mouthfeel, average texture, moderately chewy. Bittersweet taste, mildly toasted. Aroma of toasted caramel, toffee, brown sugar. Dried fruits, yeast. Nutty, bready, hints of chocolate. Lingering alcohol in the background, warming. Medium lasting finish, dry, slightly liquory.
Tasty.
4.8Smakar Belgisk supergod
3.9Cloudy brown pour, finger of tan head. Nose is coco and fruit. Middle is mild nuttiness, coco, medium to well kilned malt, fig, currant, yeasty woodiness. Finish is is fruity and bitter. Nice ale.
3.7Quite nice, hazel, amber, sugary. A bit too sweet that might be because of the high alcohol content. Imelä as we would say in finland. Score would be higher if you could drink more of these but after one you want something crispier and less sweet
4.2More difficult to find this beer than expected but my son purchased a four pack for me at a Total Wine in Houston so I finally get my chance. I'm pulling out the Teku glass on this sampling. Seems like the thing to do. Along with some 80's alternative in the background. It pours the color of coca-cola and is headed by a strong, taupe foam. The nose is pleasant also, multi-grain bread, dark fruit and malt. Lift the glass for a taste, ah, nice. Not-so-sweet candied fruit, grain, raisins, dates, some yeastiness and maltiness and a surprising bitterness at the finish. Chewy, it is all there. Definitely worth the wait for this fan of Belgian beers.
3.5Deep dark red to light brown. Quite clear (hazier on second pour). Nice off-white head: quite dense, excellent persistence and beatiful lacing. Good intensity in a rather simple but clean aroma: caramel, brown sugar, light dark/dried fruitiness. Taste notes as per aroma, again rather simple but clean. Sweet entrypoint, balanced, quite dry finish (sugar lingers a bit, but in a nice/clean way). Medium to dense bodied with average carbonation, resulting in a semi-full, slightly warming mouthfeel. Overall: perhaps nothing special, but well crafted.
3.8Ottima birra, corposa e decisa. Adatta per un pasto a base di carne.
3.9Brunatne lekko zamglone piwo z niezłą pianą. Aromat karmelu, toffi i ciemnych suszonych owoców. W smaku delikatny karmel, toffi ciasteczka plus cukier trzcinowy. Niezłe
3.4Söt, stark. Lite anonym. Passar till mat.
3.0Mörkbrun/röd med ljusbrunt skum. Doftar och smakar karamellmalt och lite julkryddor. Ganska söt med bra beska.
