Warlord is a monster of a beer. It’s the most heavily dry-hopped beer we’ve ever made. The caramel and slight notes of apricot come from the generous user of domestic and British malts and although it has a bitterness of 85 IBU’s it is still well balanced. Do not operate farm machinery.

3.0Bottle. Dark orange pour, tons of floaties, a little carbonation and a caramel and dead hop aroma. Flavor is slightly hot sweet hops, dry oranges, nice and malty with a slightly apricoty aftertaste. Average, but probably worth buy once @ $5/bottle.
3.2Pretty easy drinking for an IIPA. Aroma doesn’t jump out of the class for me, bitterness is somehow medicinal, great malt flavors as advertised, some of that barnyard I appreciate.. I like it, but doesn’t compare to the many Of the incredible beers in this class.
3.5Pour out of 22 oz bottle was hazy red with off white/yellow head, aroma brought notes of deep caramel and toffee, some nice grapefruit, lemon, hints of biscuit and slight yeast characters, touch of spice. Taste is nice grapefruit and orange, some slight mineral notes, hints of dry spice and earthy notes, some slight grass but mainly citrusy and fruity, finishing fairly bitter, slight alcohol burn. Decent!
3.5Cloudy coppery orange in color with a huge foamy tannish head. Sweet and fruity with malt, citrus, peach and a good bit of hops in the end.
3.3Pours a light peach-copper color with little to no head. Aroma of somewhat muted floral hops. Flavor is some citrus and some bitter hops, but a bit overbalanced by a sweetish malt backbone and a rather bitter finish to the beer.
3.4Sample, 4 ounces, draught, at the Hivernale des brasseurs, savoured on February 25 2012; eye: golden, hazy, no effervescence, nice white head, nice lacing; nose: resinous hops, grapefruit, light malt; mouth: resinous hops, malt, grapefruit, a-bit-short finale in resinous hops, mild astringency, mildly bitter, lightly harsh texture; overall: fine

Échantillon, 4 onces, en fût, bue à l’Hivernale des brasseurs, savourée le 25 février 2012; œil : dorée, voilée, pas d’effervescence, belle mousse blanche, bonne dentelle; nez :houblon résineux, pamplemousse, léger malt; bouche : houblon résineux, malt, pamplemousse, finale un peu courte en houblon résineux, astringence moyenne, moyennement amère, texture légèrement rugueuse; en résumé : bien
3.8On tap at Winter Warmer: Poured a deep orangey color ale with a nice foamy head. Aroma consists of citrus hops with nice resin and piney notes also detectable. Taste is also a complex mix between some notes of citrus hops with some resin notes which is well balanced by a semi-sweet caramel malt backbone. Floral notes are very nice. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I really enjoyed this one.
3.6The aroma is fruit, pine, citrus, bread. The appearance is a hazy orange, white head. The flavor is like the aroma, fruity, bready, caramel. The finish is fruity, minty, pine. Medium to medium/thick in body. Very nice.
4.0Winter warmer 2012.
3.9On tap at Winter Warmer Montreal 2012. Red with a fine white head. Complex and classy nose of grapefruit and fancy caramel. Bold mouthfeel, sensuous, clean citrussy bitterness backed by a solid malt base with toffee notes. Realy nice.
3.9Tap at Happy Gnome. Nice mostly clear orange pour with a big fluffy white head. Big citrus hop nose. Taste is rich citrus hops and very well balanced.
2.3Looks are deceiving in more ways than one. 22 ounce bottle into a 24 oz Sam Adams glass. This is a pretty looking ale, golden orange with a thick cream white head and fairly effervescent. From there the nose is doughy and syrupy, with some grassy, berry, peach and apricot. Also a rubbery tone faint but present. The flavor is very syrup laden, marmalade, rubbery note in nose runs across the mid palate. Some earthy herbal hop character begins to shine. Fruit in the finish is melon like with a decent bitterness, sweet sticky finish not unlike American imperial stouts. There is a puzzling lingering after taste, that is both sweet and slightly phenolic. This is not my idea of a good imperial ipa, very little nuance and very thick with hop aroma and flavor under played.
2.9did you read about this? no, i don’t care for newspapers .. . good dose of hops: syrup, bark, sap, and grapefruit rind .. . good iipa, but nothing jumpin
. .. . perjury- which means to make paper..
4.0Wow, much larger head than I expected after the minimal pfffft that occurred once I opened hte bottle. 3 inch high head of fine bubbles that is nice and creamy on top. Nice hoppy aroma with lots of citrus and flowers, some tangerine, a bit of roasted malts and some green apples. Color is a dark copper brown. Wow, noticable alcohol presence and warming from the very first sip. Decent malt backbone which gives a bit of sweetness to offset the plentify hops bitterness. A very smooth bitterness, not harsh in the least bit that lingers long after the swallow. Some grapefruit pith and spruce play on the tongue that rounds out with some crusty toasted bread. This is a damn fine and well balanced IIPA.
3.5Tap at the Peculier Pub with Ethan. Clearish brown-ruby pour with a moderate head. Toast, caramel in the nose. Medium to big sweet flavor, slight plastic and rubber, earthy bitterness. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Pine, earth finish, bit more bready, toasty malts and caramel. The off flavors subsided gradually making the beer pretty decent.
3.3From a bottle poured a copper color with a fair amount of head. Nice hoppy flavor with a quick finish.
3.3Rich amber color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of pine/floral hops, citrus, & some caramel malt; Flavor of sweet malt, caramel/toffee, pine hops, and citrus (notably grapefruit); Finish is bitter with some alcohol; Fairly well balanced; Overall, nothing exciting - decent I guess.
3.7I think my comrades might be a bit harsh on this one. The aroma is malty with caramel and dark fruits. The pour is cloudy amber with a lacing head. The flavor has the fruits and caramel but is balanced nicely with a hop bite in the end. The finish is assertive with a nice peppery hop feel, dry and clean.
2.4Aroma of malts, sour barley and sugar. Pours hazel with a small solid head. Tastes overly malty with roasted hops barely in there. Tastes like someone made "instant" beer like an iced tea mix.
3.3Clearish amber coloured body with a copper glow and a thick, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of fresh hops, pine, pineapple, grapefruit, alcohol, resin and quite a bit of sweetness. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong hoppy flavour with pine and herbal tastes at first with quite a large bitterness, some deep nutty malt and a little sweetness on the end. Aftertaste shows some rather deep flavours for the style with a lot of resin and sprucey hops. Overall, an okay Imperial IPA, too strong on some tastes and not enough on others - a bit too potent, plus the 65 cL bottle is way too much of this one. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Liquor Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 24-July-2011 for US$5.95 sampled at home in Washington on 31-July-2011.
4.2Great ale. A taste of hoppolicious heaven. Great draft brew. Great double IPA.
3.4This poured a medium orange color with an off white head. Aroma was light grapefruit and pine, and lots of caramel malt. Flavor was very bitter, but not muich hop flavor, overly sweet and not too great.
3.4Bottle. Dark copper-tinted amber. Good starting froth and lasting cover with lacing. Hoppy nose with lots of woody orange citrus. Thick syrupy body with slight mint and eucalyptus notes but mostly sticky malt and woody orange hops. 85 IPUs have trouble against the thick malt and ABV. A nice beer but a bit thick and not a IIPA standout.
3.4Bottle, RBSG. Pretty okay. Lots of citrus and caramel sweetness in the nose. Sweet at first, with big bitter finish. Always afraid to try stuff from McNeils as I had some bad experiences in college and this was just okay. well, pretty okay.
3.7Saw this walkin down the isle one day and figured I’d give it a try. It was the first McNeills I had seen and I’m always down to try new brands. Very piny and citrusy to the nose. Pours a nice amber color, the color I’d expect from a DIPA and had a pretty gnarly head on it. Had a sweet malt beginning and then the hops just completely take over. Was enjoyable but I wish the flavors melded together and hormanized a little more. Still an awesome buy and I plan on trying more McNeills in the future. Enjoy
3.5Bottle on bus at RBSG trip. Pours dark amber. Off white. Nose/taste of caramel and sweet malts, hops, peach and citrus. Medium body.
3.622 fl oz bottle. Pours cloudy orange with a small off white head. aROMa is preacy and citrusy. Bitter and yet slight sweet. Bitter and dry grapefruity. Ends dry and bitter into the finish. Nice and easy.
3.5Bottle at OT in Stockholm. It poured a hazy copper-orange liquid with a big creamy and fluffy head. Very hoppy and fruity smell. Mild bitterness on the taste. Also fruity hops, pineapple... well lots of tropical fruit. Fairly thin body and dangerously easy to drink. Nice hoppy aroma but I missed that strong bitterness I love in DIPAs. This one felt to mellow. But still a nice beer.
3.3Bottle shared by a friend. Hazy copper pour with a thin beige head. Aroma of grain, caramel and some hop. Malty flavor with caramel and some graininess before a grassy finish. Methinks this particular bottle may have been past its prime.
3.2This was okay for me. Looks great in the glass, slightly hazy orange, with a fluffy white head. Aroma is very light floral hops. Taste is caramel, with a bitter, burning alcohol finish.
