Meantime London Lager

Meantime London Lager

Bottle.
Meantime Brew Master, Alastair Hook, has spent 20 years planning the quintessential English lager. His reasoning is simple. The great European lager brewers use very soft water and neutral yeasts to ensure that only the flavours of their locally grown malt and hops come to the fore. East Anglia is home to the world’s finest malting barley and Kent is home to some of the world’s best hops. Midway between the two, London is ideally placed to bring them together in a straightforward, clean, long-matured, unpasteurised lager, where all you can taste is malt and hop.

4.1 On draft at The Richmond Hill Hotel. Clean, clear and crisp with a mild, malty taste and some background bitterness.
3.1 Hazy golden, white head. Smells of malts and cereals, a touch of spicy hops. Similar taste - lots of cereal / raw malts, spicy pungent slightly husky bitterness.
2.0 Very clear, yellow color, little, white head which collapses immediately. Crispy and light flavour with a little bit hop bitterness at the end. The aftertaste is empty and watery and has a bad type of sweetness. Overall, it's like a cheap lager with no character.
3.3 0.33l bottle. Yellow color with white head. Aroma is malty, straw, floral and citruses. Taste is malty with light bitterness and some hops flavor. Overall it's nice and easy drinkable beer.
3.0 Bottle at Cinnamon Kitchen, City, 18th September 19. Pours clear. Aroma is citrus, light soup and malt. Taste is full, citrus, soap, light sourness, there’s enough there to take it above a standard lager.
2.3 Hazy yellow color, quickly diminishing foam. Strange malty and hop-smell. Malty but nothing special. Not that good lager.
3.0 Can from Co-op, Ancaster. Hazy gold, white head. Nice malt/hop balance, some citrus character, reasonably long finish. Good beer!
3.6 It's alright could be so much better. I like the aftertaste it's crisp, sweet and very refreshing it just takes a few seconds for it to come on. It could be so much better
3.3 Clear, golden, medium head. Malty, herbal, grassy aroma. Malty, crisp, mediumcarbonation.
2.7 Dorée, très légère mousse. Nez malté doux un peu caramel blond. Gout leger malté, noisette avec note houblon sec. Bonne petite amertume avec note sucrée en fin de bouche
2.8 Bottle 33cl, a clear yellow beer with low head. Nose is low on grain and bottom yeast. Aroma is low too, light sugar, light grain, bit nutty, some dusty hop, quite boring and light. Finish with light peppery hop and touch of sugar.
3.0 0,33l bottle. Clear yellow colour with quickly disappearing white head. Aroma: Fresh hay and grass. Taste: Has a short malty start with a quite bitter/hoppy mouthfeel. It's hoppy like an German pilsener. Light body with medium carbonation. Medium lasting bitter and gently dry finish.
5.0 Nice clean lemon taste.
2.3 330ml glass bottle paid £1.44 on promotion from Waitrose Westfield London. Served fridge cold into a pint glass. From memory the best before date was Jan 2020. The beer pours a golden amber crystal clear colour. A thin layer of medium bodied head builds on pour but dissipates almost instantly. Medium carbonation with a a few streams of small bubbles. The aroma is mainly biscuit malts. Limited citrus hi presence. Underwhelming for something that is supposed to be craft. The taste follows the aroma. Biscuity malt, limited lemon zest and apricot but too little to be interesting. A slight fizz on the tongue but, like the flavours, gone all too quickly. A light lingering malt. Very average. For a beer that is supposed to represent London I feel this really should be better, but maybe I’m biased in that regard. If I want something of this style there are far better lagers and far far better helles and pilsners that do the job.
3.0 Kicsi, nem túl tartós hab, arany szín. Gyümölcsös, lágeres illat. Lágeres, citrusos ízvilág, némi virágos beütéssel. Könnyű, közepesen szénsavas, enyhén keserű. Kellemes, alig kénes láger.
1.7 0,33 bottle.Very pale yellow color, a bit disembodied in appearance, the head also disappears quickly. Nothing disturbing in its scent: no bad aftertaste, a little more mild, normal lager scent. Malt taste, refreshingly carbonated, there is nothing out of place, but not outstanding either. I lighten the hops a little, which is more of an aftertaste. Acceptable lager. ** Nagyon halvány sárga szín, kinézetre kicsit testetlen, a hab is hamar eltűnik. Illatában semmi zavaró, nincs rossz mellékillat, kicsit malátásabb, normál lager illat. Malátás íz, frissítően szénsavas, nincs semmi oda nem illő, de kiemelkedő sem. Kicsit keveslem a komlót, ami inkább csak utóízre érződik.Elfogadható lager.
2.3 On tap in London. Clear golden, thin white head. Very mild, easy to drink. Some grainy flavours. Drinkable.
2.3 slightly opalescent pale yellow colour, moderate sized off-white head, which collapses quickly; aroma of grains, cardboar, some earthy and metallic notes; taste has the same notes; a malt-dominant lager - I am not amazed at all
2.6 bottle @ auchan (budapest) pale yellow colour, normal body, quick disappear white head, average carbonated, some bitter, watery texture, typically lager beer, nothing interesting
2.5 It has a golden color and some bitterness in the aftertaste. Its a decent lager.
3.3 Earlier Rating: 9/19/2018 Total Score: 3
2.9 Draft in our London office, sweet but not too sweet. Ok lager, nothing special though
3.6 Bottle First impressions, wow bitter aftertaste. Once you overcome that, the 'original' lager taste comes through. Really enjoyed these bottles
2.7 Bottle shared at home, thanks to Tomi. Clear golden, thin white head. Pretty standard lager, bittersweet with a light, crisp body. Nothing interesting really.
2.2 Draft in a London pub. I might've taken this as a Budweiser. Crystal clear, golden, crisp and biscuity. Decently made but un-outstanding. (#7148, 8/2018)
2.7 On tap at the Understudy. Pours gold. Bit of citrus, some cereal, reasonably clean finish. Medium body. Fine.
