Meantime London Porter

Meantime London Porter

Avaailable on Keg and in 750ml bottles.
George Washington was a big fan of imported English Porter. By 1769 he'd lost his taste for British beers. After all, it was keeping the Redcoats fighting. Our Porter is based on a recipe from 1750. We bring you the original aromas and flavours of the beer that made London the world's brewing capital, flavours we know Washington would have loved. Time, care and attention have enabled us to produce a blend of beers bringing you the flavour of the 1750's. Share this beer with friends and enjoy with barbeques, fish or shellfish. The ruby colour & bottle conditioning are proof of its heritage and authenticity.

3.2 Deep amber colour, fluffy head. Sadly the whole batch seems to have survived an earthquake so pouring was quite some task. Very prominent alcohol note, chocolate, sweet malt. Very pleasant after work draft.
3.1 Originally rated on 8/1/08. It poured a deep mohagany, amber when held up to light, with a thick tan head. There wasnt much aroma to speak of. The flavor was overwhelming of alcohol i couldnt believe that it was only 6.5%, the other flavors were cherries, roasted malt, caramel and a little chocolate, but the alcohol drowned them out. If it wasnt for that i would have rated it higher.
3.7 Aroma: Malts, caramel, chocolate, roasted malts, coffee and hops. Appearance: Turbid ruby/dark brown beer with a slight off-white head. Taste/Palate: Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel and chocolate; ends slightly bitter with roasted malts, coffee and hops.
3.6 Ciemnobrunatny w barwie o palonej duzej pianie. W zapachu dominuje karmel i kawowe nuty. W smaku karmel, lukrecja, czekolada, kawa .mimo 7 procent malo czuc alkohol. B.Dobry przyklad gatunku.

4.1 - Nose: restrained BBQ charcoal + sweet cola/caramel + dusting of ground coffee/cocoa - Body: medium-weight, roast-y cocoa + slight rum baba sweetness : restrained charcoal + sweet cola/caramel + dusting of ground coffee - Finish: dry finish – wispy, like Porterhouse’s porters. - Refined porter, plenty poise.
3.6 750 ml bottle. Dark brown body with medium head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, some resins. Body is light. Taste coffee and malty with bitter finish. OK beer.
3.7 3/13/2009 6:33:33 AM Bottle from Beers of Europe. Dark brown body with nice, white head. Nice roasty nose of chocolate and malts. Taste of coffee, chocolate, roasty malts. A bit sour and milky too. A really nice porter by an excellent brewery.
3.9 Bottle. Pours a deep mahogany color with a nice head and lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. Taste of roasted malt with a subtle touch of chocolate and coffee. Easy bitterness and a dry finish. Moderate body, nicely crafted, as the chocolate and coffee compliment not overpower the brew. Enjoyable beer to relax with.
3.4 Bottle. In aroma mostly dark chocolate with coffee notes. Taste is very watery with some chocolate, roasty and coffee notes. The colour is dark with small, stable beige head.
3.9 Bottle. Pours dark brown with some off white head. Nose is some coffee and dark fruit. Taste is similar. Good.
3.4 Dark brown colour, medium beige and stable head. Mild aroma of roasted malts, coffee and some dark dried fruits with earthy background. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter and minimal sour. Medium slightly dry finish. Medium carbonation (could be lower). Medium body. Decent example of classic stout.
3.4 Coffee and alcohol up front. Sips creamy and malty. Caramel malt in the middle and finish. Slight carbonation, and deep coffee and malt flavors. Nice
3.4 330 ml bottle@home. Appearance: clear ruby brown with beige head. Aroma: roasted malt, floral hops. Taste: medium bitter. Palate: refreshing, lasting medium bitter, medium CO2. Overall: nice.

4.3 Bottle; pours dark brown with some reddish tints and a beige head; aroma is caramel, molasses, dark fruits, and hints of licorice and chocolate; taste is dark fruits, caramel, and roast malt; finish has some bitter chocolate notes; very nice porter, I really enjoyed this one
4.2 Kolor brązowy przechodzący w ciemnorubinowy, piana gęsta, doskonała. Aromat kawy, czekolady, takiż sam smak.Łagodny doskonały porter.
3.8 Very pleasant aroma of chocolate and cocoa. It’s a clear, dark brown color beer, with massive, beige head which is formed from rather big bubbles. Great lacing. Beer is flat, almost no carbonation, it’s highly drinkable. The taste in this beer is growing. Starting with light and calm and it ends with nice bitterness, and a bit of coffee in the aftertaste. It’s a good beer.
4.0 W barwie ciemne, rubinowe. Piana nikła, słabo się osadza. Aromat słodki, słodowy, zdominowany przez palone i czekoladowe nuty. W smaku wyczuwalny słód, słodycz z przyjemnym czekoladowym finiszem. Piwo nie zalega i jest bardzo pijalne. Warte polecenia.
2.8 750ml bottle served in a pint glass. Dark brown with a light beige head. Aroma is almost non-existent (although in fairness I had come from a DIPA). Mouthfeel is thin for a porter but ok and the flavours are sweet orientated with little bitterness (again I came from a DIPA). The main flavour I was able to pick out unfortunately was smoky bacon and no matter how I tried I was unable to get past it. This was a return to the beer as about 10 years ago before I was able to drink beer (they were all too bitter) I quite enjoyed this - along with Samichlaus. I think the reason has become evident as the sweetness and lack of bitterness in both beers is childlike and not well balanced but a good introduction to beer in general.
3.7 Pours a dark reddish brown with off white head. Aroma of malt. Flavor is smooth malt with a hint of coffee.
3.7 750ml Bottle from Whol Foods, Giffnock (£5.06): This one was quite a nice beer and one that I’m actually glad came in the larger, 750ml bottle as it gave me extra time to fully appreciate the beer and enjoy it as it went down. The beer was a very easy on to drink thanks in no small part to the excellent balance of the beer but also because of the smooth, almost creamy mouthfeel and the touches of sweetness that appeared throughout. Definitely a beer that is well worth picking up if your lucky enough to stumble across it but it’s not a stand out Meantime offering, just a solid and highly drinkable beer.
3.2 Piana spora, drobno i średnio pęcherzykowa, szybko jednak opada do kożuszka. Barwa ciemno brązowa, klarowna. Aromat z butelki mocno czekoladowy, likierowy.
3.9 0.33l bottle. Dark ruby body, off-white head. Aroma of cocoa, coffee, tobacco, caramel and figs. Taste of sour cherry (I quite like the sourness), chocolate, coffee, smoke and a floral hop bite. Easy to drink. I like it.
3.6 Pours a dark reddish-brown with a large lasting foamy off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, fruit and chocolate. Taste is dry and roasty along with some yeast, coffee and a slightly hoppy and chocolatey finish. Medium bodied.
3.4 Bottle: clear deep toffee brown with a very light head & poor lace. Very smokey malt nose. Certainly not a massive lift and while its smokey it’s not heavily roasted. Slightly sour nose. The palate is dry to off dry with a slightly sour note and medium bitterness. Very smokey malt again on the palate. Lacks complexity or saturation. Nice beer but not great. I like the sour edge the more I taste it.
Questa birra è proprio all’insegna dell’equilibrio. Birra dall’elevata facilità di bevuta e al contempo deliziosa. Da non perdere.
3.7 0.33l bottle from csakajósör. Nice beige head, aroma is mild, sweet dark chocolate, maybe a bit roasted. Taste is similar, with some sweet spicyness, perhaps vanilla. Perfect, mild carbonation, bittersweet aftertaste. Minimal hoppiness, just enough to balance things a bit.Typical British beer, well balanced, moderate, harmonic.
4.0 Black, strong beige head. Cocoa, vanilla, sherry on the nose. Very roasty, full-bodied, cocoa, coffee, vanilla. Balanced roasty bitterness and sweetness. Finishes chocolatey bitter. Very nice!
2.4 Bottle at a tasting. Very light bodied. No carbonation. Light roast flavor. More like a mild than a porter. Very disappointing beer.
