Meantime Pale Ale

Meantime Pale Ale

Available in 330ml bottles and on Keg.

In the days before lager, Pale Ale was the original reassuringly expensive tipple. Drinking it set you apart from the Bitter crowd. Our Pale Ale is more than special. English Goldings, American Cascade & Cluster hops provide the bitterness, whilst our unique dry hopping technique with bucketfuls of Cascade & Willamette hops gives it a tantalising aroma.

3.3 Dark golden pour with little to no head. Soft malty and hoppy aromas. Easy drinking Pale Ale which I found more malty than hoppy.
2.9 Pours clear amber with low white head. Aroma of rye bread, citrus. Tastes bready with light caramel and a medium bitter finish. Light and smooth body with soft carbonation.
3.1 Tap. Floral hops with citric nites. Amber ale with thin white top. Tastes soapy and fruity with muted biscuit undertones. The flavours grow fruitier and so does the carbonation. This may well appeal to a younger market so ker-Ching to all involved.
3.7 pint draught @ Greenwich Union, London. This is similar thirst quncher as the brewery’s lager but in a deeper way. Colour is amber, no head. More hoppy, malts come in the second place here. Still, this is not an APA. but an English pale ale. Great with pub food.
2.9 Pours clear deep golden. Aroma is slightly hoppy, but balanced. Taste is balanced, nice.
3.4 From the very old notes, hence this is not a real rating, but more just a mark to myself that I have tried this at one point. This was decent hoppy pale ale.
3.3 330mL bottle, poured into a balloon snifter. The aroma is a dank pine with orange and grapefruit notes that turn towards caramel with a light floral touch, and a leathery note. It’s a brilliant, clear bronze hue with a thin, white soap head that has only a light retention and no lace. The taste is a moderate, balanced bittersweet. The thin oily texture is supported by a fizzy carbonation. The medium light body contains notes of caramel and leather with secondary notes of herbs and citrus. It finishes crisp with citrus and pine and has an aftertaste of floral pine and leather that’s mild and leaves and astringent and clean aftertaste.
3.4 *Old rating from 2010. Fresh, smooth. Pine, Citrus, easy to drink, slightly malty, fresh.
3.2 Sampled from a bottle at the Barbican Concert Hall, London. Darkish gold colour with citrusy aromas. Quite sweet malt taste but with plenty of grassy, citrus flavours including grapefruit. Medium bodied and with good bitterness. A pleasant APA.
3.9 cloudy golden colour, minimal off-white head; aroma of intensive fruitiness, some citruses, nuts and caramel; taste of citruses, and fruitiness; a bit watery, otherwise correct APA
3.2 330 ml bottle Appearance: Amber beer with a light white head. Aroma: , light Floral tones, orange zest ,grass and malts. Taste: Sweet caramel. with some floral and orange zest hops in The finish , Starts moderate sweet finishes moderate bitter with quite some sweet tones. Medium body, moderate carbonation A bit too sweet and a bit to mild bitter in the finish, but still a quite decent brew.
3.0 On tap @ Royal Burger & Gin, Bergen. Pours golden with a creamy head. Aroma is hoppy apricots and orange peel, as well as roasted malts with grain. Medium body with average carbonation. Flavour is sweet with roasted malts, and some hoppy notes with lingering orange peel in the finish.
3.3 Draught@Heathrow Airport. Amber beer with a light white head. The aroma is gently hopped, and the flavour is more deeply hopped with a floral feel and a bitter finish. Overall a nice well hopped and definitely an America style beer.
3.0 From tap. Pours a hazy orange. Good session beer. Calm aroma of citrus and floral hops. Flavors is equally mellow. Hops, but not too bitter. Good for when you want a few.
3.0 Tap at Brew Wharf, 28/12/13. Clear golden with a moderate white covering that retains well. Nose is toasted malts, caramel, orange, bitter fruit notes, light hops. Taste comprises orange, dull pine, faint metallic nip, toasted malt, some hops. Medium bodied, carbonation is a little too prickly and overcooked, grassy bitterness in the cessation. Drinkable and good to see at bars that aside from this only offer macro. However things have moved on and whilst the was something I’d look for 7 or 8 years ago palates change and a whole host of new London brewers can offer much hoppier solutions to my drinkng needs.
1.1 Tap at Dubliner, july 30th 2013. Light copper body, no head. Flat, oxidated, vegetable taste and aroma. Malty hints with a citric aftertaste of vinegar and cabbage.
3.3 330ml bottle. pours a slightly hazy yellow with small head. aroma is strong of citrus and hops. taste is fruity, some bread, honey and hops. quite sweet after taste.
3.2 On tap @ Kick Malt & Mat. Slightly hazy orange body with an OK off-white head. Quite light, but nice aroma dominated by citric fruit and a hint of pale malt. Flavor is light and refreshing pale malt, fruity, peaches and decent bitterness. Medium body with a decent aftertaste. Quaffable, smooth and well balanced session ale. Nice.
3.2 Clearing backlog. No comments. Apologies, future ratings will have detail.
3.7 Dec 2012 - draught at Xmas Party. Very drinkable, enjoyable pale ale. A proper session beer. Mild floral and fruit flavours, bitterness is subtle. Had 6 pints altogether, and no hangover!
2.5 On tap in a pint glass. Clear golden pour with a bit of frothy white head. Aroma is OK. Floral and orange hop nose. Taste is kind of bland. Bitter with a bit of orange hop flavor. Crisp and light body. Carbonation was a bit over. Pretty boring and unimpressive.
2.9 Keg at market porter, this is a ok beer, light and inoffensive. Slightly over carbonated or my palate. Refreshing
2.5 Clear golden body, white head. Aroma of sweet malt, mellow hops, fruity notes, pear and soap. Low carb.
3.8 Pint from Young’s Pub. Very decent beer, one of the more conventional beers from Meantime, however much better than the other options on tap in this establishment, including the Meantime Pilsner
3.6 Poca schiuma chiara, naso poco intenso, classico della pale ale inglese, ottimo sapore, classico della pale ale inglese, buon retrogusto!
3.3 33 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 09.12.2010 Lots of foaming right away when I opened the cap. And more when pouring. Aroma is a bit ashy with gooseberry bush and some biscuits. Flavour is somewhat straightforward and hoppy with gooseberry bush, some fruits and hints of ash. A bit weird and thin but ok.
3.3 On Tap at Meantime Brewery in Greenwich England A -Tiny head. Fades quickly to a small ring of bubbles SRM of 5. Light gold S - Chinook hops. Light bit of aromatics. Hops really dominate the smell but it’s very weak T - Sort of hoppy taste. Weak and maybe a bit faded. Roses and Monterey cheese. Lager with hops? M - 50% carbonation. Medium body. Very weak finish O – 3.5/100. An okay over lunch beer.
4.6 spruce, citrus, basement aromas, cough drop, clove, amber, white foam, rocky head, medium sweetness, very bitter, lightly sour, salty, full body, thin feel, average carbonation, long finish, bitter,
3.1 Bottle. Clear gold body with a large white head. Aroma-flavour: passionsfruit, citrus, lemon myrtyle, biscuit with a carbonic bite. Light to medium bodied.
3.7 Draft at the Nocturnem Draft Haus. This is a bright yellow color and a bit cloudy with little head. Aroma is great with citrus from the hops. This is a pretty light beer but has character and the right level of hops. Overall a good pale ale.
