Meantime Raspberry Wheat

Meantime Raspberry Wheat

Availabale on draught (keg) and in 330ml bottles. Also sold as Sainsbury’s Raspberry Wheat.

NOTE: This is not the same beer as Raspberry Grand Cru.

Based on a pale, lightly hopped wheat beer, the refreshingly crisp fruitiness, aroma and rich colour come from the addition of fresh raspberry puree during maturation. Balancing tartness with sweetness, on its own it is a delicious aperitif, as well being as a great partner for goat’s cheese, rich pate or anything chocolatey.

2.6 330ml bottle. Pours a fairly unappealing orange brown colour with no head. Visibly fizzy on the top. Aroma is tart raspberry, but a little synthetic. Taste is also very tart, with a nice raspberry finish. The main issue is that it’s far too fizzy.
3.4 Hazy red colour with thin head. Aroma and flavour have plenty of raspberry. It’s fairly sweet for a raspberry beer. Still pleasant and easy to drink though.
3.3 33 cl. bottle. Dark orange colour with an off-white head. Aroma and flavour of wheat, spice, fruit, yeast and raspberries.
3.0 Bottle at yespr. Clear orange colored with a medium sized white head. Fruity aroma of hops and raspberries. Fruity flavor of hops and raspberries. Fruity finish.
3.1 33 cl bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is raspberry and fruity. Bitter, fruity citric, mellow fruity. Dry and raspberry crisp finish.
3.2 Bottle from Booths, Media City. Deeper amber coloured with no head. The raspberry is its dominant characteristic, although not overly stated by any means, and the wheat ale texture works well for the ale too.
2.5 Unusual fizzness, one you would expect from a pop can not a beer. Its very much a raspberry to the point that it tastes like sour fruit juice more then a beer. You would think this would work better were is a lambric rather then a wheat beer as it is stylistically like one. Which is a shame as some of the german fruit wheat beers are lovely thick things. All in all its nit a bad beer and is a quite nice drink. Its just not what I was hoping for. If you want a tart raspberry beer stick to you Framboise lambics. Nothing interesting here, and nothing that hasent been done much better elsewhere. If you facy something a little more fruity and this is the only option thats got that by all means give it a try!
2.5 0.33l bottle. This is a cloudy hard to describe the color of one. Ehm, deep amber with a pinkish hue? Only a small off-white head with the same pinkish hue. It smells artificial fruity with lime and traces of raspberry bubblegum. Wheat sweetness also detected here. Not horrible. Slightly acidic-sour, or tart is a better word to describe the flavors here. Wheat sweetness detected, but the sourness overwhelms pretty much everything. Raspberry sourness of course. Thin and only in the mouth with a above average carbonation level. Grows on you, but definitely no masterpiece. 06.06.2014
3.1 330ml Bottle from Whole Foods Market, Giffnock (£1.99): As expected, raspberries dominated this one throughout but there was also some nice tart & sourness coming through alongside some funky flavours. It reminded me of a lambic in places & it wasn’t a bad smell to open things up. The taste wasn’t the best though, it seemed weakened when compared to the nose & was quite average really. Not a beer I’d have again but it was interesting to try at least without ever really exciting.
2.2 Pretty disappointing. Very generic, really, and barely any detectable raspberry. Slightly sour. That’s about it.
2.9 How: Bottle.. Where: Tasting 2015-10-09, bought at the brewery. Appearance: Amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma: Raspberries, wheat, hops. Body: Medium body, lively carbonation. Flavour: Raspberries, wheat, sugary, a bit tart.

2.5 Pours cloudy light red. Aroma has raspberries. Taste is refreshing, sweet, raspberries.
3.6 Bottle. High fluffy lasting white head. Cloudy red amber body. Sweet malt cherries aroma. Powerful acidic cherries nuts flavor with a dry hoppyness. High carbonation. Long finish.
2.1 @Spain, @Wine Palace, bottle 33cl, 5%, 2015 pours dark orange/golden with a sparkling white collar with almost the same color as the beer. aroma of fruit acid taste pungent fruit acid, raspberry (however not that noticeable), some vineger, soft body, light, a lot of carbonation, a bit disappointing
2.3 0.33 bottle. Very hazy, compote-colored liquid with virtually no head. Heavy aroma of fermented fruits - apples, pears, and raspberries - which hide almost everything else. Sour, fruity taste with a ton of fruits. Light to medium body, slick/thin texture, and a lively carbonation. Finish is medium long, sweet’n’sour or rather sour’n’sweet. Overall the brew is relatively bad, although it could be refreshing when served cold.
1.9 Pours a nice medium red colour. On the nose sour berry. Tastes of red berries....very sour red berries with a short bitter aftertaste. Not particularly pleasant.
2.7 Bottle. Pours a light red colour with a thin head, aroma is fruity, taste is bitter with a dry finish.
2.6 How: Bottle. Appearance: cloudy dark red, some off-white head. Aroma: lots of fruits, sour berries Palate: medium body, average carbonation, a bit sour finish
2.7 Cant call this wheat.. Mostly like unintentional fruit/lambic, besides - undermatured. Straightforward sour raspberries - slightly artificial. Moderate sweet with moderate acidic sourness. One-timer. Not total disaster, but I homebrew much better ones
2.5 Aroma: Raspberry, beet. Appearance: swamp water. Bit sour and saison type, for this beer it should be sweeter
1.8 Colour is apricot, hazy. Head vanished. Gusher. Aroma’s mild fruity wheat malts, notes of some berries. Taste’s sour berries, apricot or peach, fruity malts, faint note of wommit. Not much finish. Limonade’ish on palate. Strange radler. [33cl special br btl, abv5%, BB?, B@Vinmonopolet Tromsdalen]
2.7 Bottle. Aroma acidic, apple vinegar. Hazy reddish amber colour. Taste acidic right from beginning, apples, fruity. Sourness is clearly present, but not overwhelming. Lightest of clove. Not much more. Rather simple and strange, but good for those who like this kind of thing, but drinkability is rather poor. IMO overall average.
Faller ganske raskt. Lukter fruktig, syrlig, noe vinøs. Smaker syrlig bær. tørr avslutning.
3.5 From 0,33l bottle, BBD: 06 08 15 Pours hazy amber orange liquid, almost no head - only some minimal fizzy one. Aroma: raspberry, acid notes, floral notes, very fresh, wheat, Taste: light to medium sweet, light bitter, medium to heavy sour, raspberry, wheat, floral, refreshing, Palate: light body, slick texture, average carbonation, long acid finish, Overall: very drinkable, refreshing, prefect to pair with deserts, or some cheese, interesting choice.
2.9 Light body and aroma. Sweet raspberry taste with a raw sour finish. Not very good at the beginning but quite interesting at the end.
2.8 Bottle. Red amber colour with a beige head. Aroma is raspberry, wheat, malt. Flavour is raspberry, wheat, malt, spices, yeast. Medium body. Ordinary beer.
