3.712oz bottle. Pours clear dark ruby in color with pink head. Aroma sweet, heavy strawberry tart. Taste sweet, strawberry and tart with sweet strawberry finish.
3.2Bottle
Deciding to get a sense of what a month in England will be like I picked this up. Over the next few months I would like to work my way through as many English countries as possible; this was the second one in line. At $5.99 each they are a little pricy. I’m not sure it was worth it despite the fact that this had to come a considerable distance to get to the shelf of the local store.
Aroma / Appearance - Carbonated and semi-transparent with a brownish red hue it smelled solely of strawberry fruit rollups. More like Lindemans than a true lambic this has a candy like aspect that keeps it from being more interesting.
Flavor / Palate - The fluid mouthfeel tastes like cheap chocolate ice cream with strawberry chunks embedded. Artificial sweetener comes just before a weak finish. More like the Girardin Faro than anything else I have tried this was not worth what I paid. If it weren’t for being in an exploratory mood I would have avoided this as I had for the past two years.
2.2Foams up a bit out of the bottle when I pop the cap. This pours into my 25cl tulip glass with a frothy, pale, off-white colored head. The beer is a murky red color that shows a light amber color (makes me think of browned, oxidized strawberries) when held up to the light. The aroma is unmistakably that of strawberry and is noticeable as soon as I pop the cap. Not surprisingly nothing else is noticeable except for the strawberry notes; at least the strawberry notes actually smell like real strawberries (though notched up a few ratchets) as opposed to cheap extract.
Shockingly sweet at the first sip, this tastes like strawberry syrup. Thick feeling, but there is a fairly substantial carbonation that actually seems to struggle to become free of the syrupy morass as the beer flows across my tongue. As to the flavors, well all I can say is strawberry and sweet, nothing else particularly is noticeable, especially nothing that would suggest this is a beer, much less a Lambic.
Not really something I want to drink, again this is more like a strawberry soda than anything. Way too sweet and fruity for my tastes.
Purchased: Papago Brewing Co, Scottsdale AZ
3.6remjinded me more of a wine cooler than a beer, but had the beer undertone. in a bottle at a lace called martini 7 in canton, very sweet, not too syrupy, kind of like a dessert beer, enjoyed it,
3.7Poured out and settle with a pinkish-amber color. Smells very fruity and slightly yeasty. Striaght-forward berry and citrus flavors. Had the faintest taste of citrus flavored wine at finish. Quite refreshing.
3.7Tart and sweet, great strawberry flavor - very enjoyable, could keep a few of these in the fridge all summer long.
3.7Bottle @ WSF 2008. Clear light red with tiny off white head. Sweet with strawberries, malt and a mild tart end. Good mouthfeel.
3.4Strong strawberry aroma as you open the bottle. The flavor is a tart strawberry. Smooth and tasty.
3.3Bottle. Pours a orange/pink color with a light pink head and has some spotty lacing. Fruity and sweet aroma of strawberries. Flavor is fairly sweet with strawberries and has a faint sour note with a tart and dry finish
3.6Pours a deep copper with beige off-white head. Fruity aroma heavy on the strawberries. Sweet taste. A little too sweet for my liking
2.935.5 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange to redish with a lacing faint pink to white head. Artificial strawberry aroma. Sweet flavour with a distinct strawberry flavour. Somewhat artificial finish with a distinct sweetness. Candy pop in a bottle yet enjoyable.
3.6The Melbourn beers use lambic yeasts, so have qualities similar to lambic yet are fruit beers. Smooth, delicious. Fine champagne-like lively carbonation. Sweet-tart strawberry flavor with hardly any beer characteristics. Clean finish. Melbourn has been a favorite of mine for many years, so I will be sad to see these brews disappear. The Melbourn brews are easy to fall in love with, even for non-beer drinkers!
3.3Pinkish orange, hazy, big frothy pink-tinged head. It actually looks very good! Aroma is strawberry jam with a faint mustiness. Big natural tasting strawberry juice flavour (i.e. not artificial or candyish) with a musty undertone, and just a hint of sour tartness in the finish. I had this with bison steaks that were heavily marinated in crushed pepper, and I think the pairing really brought out the best in the beer.
3.7this beer was delicous. plain and simple. Strawberry aroma and flavor but not overpowering sweetness. Excellent lambic
3.5An english attempt at a lambic style beer and not a bad effort at all. Super foamy head with definite aromas of strawberries. They are smart in imparting the correct sourness in the finish. Good beer overall.
3.5355ml brown bottle. Pours an orangey/pinkish colour. To my surprise the head is long lasting and well formed, two fingers in height, leaving decent lacing behind. It is off white coloured with a touch of pink as well. Fruity and sweet aroma - obviously strawberry, also a light winey note. Flavour has strawberry fruit, ends slightly tart and dry. Medium sticky body.
3.3Bottle. Reddish amber body with a medium pink head. Aroma is more cherry than strawberry, actually cherry stone in the aroma. Also a bit of a lambic aroma here. Flavor is more of strawberry, some cellar notes as well. Fine refreshing sourish finish.
3.2Bottle. An almost clear, orange-brown beer with a sourish, strawberry aroma, lambic-reminiscent, but not exactly there. Strawberry and weak lambic in the flavor, lacking barnyard and similar flavors, but rich on sourness. Syrupy, slightly astringent mouthfeel, with a sugary and sour finish. A nice and refreshing beer, I think I could easily down a few of these on a hot summer day. (080215)
2.9Bottle. Have to give a 4 out of 5 to the 3 ounces I poured into a bowl of vanilla ice cream. Lasting foam on dark peach coloured beer. Salty, sour strawberry jam nose. Sweet but not overpowering. Tastes like a cooler basically.
3.5Bottle: Amber with a fluffy white head... Smell of strawberries... Very sweet, taste of strawberries and possibly apple, was expecting a kick of tartness to back it up... Finish is quite syrupy on the palate... Still not a bad offering, a little more tart, and i’d like it quite a bit more...
3.0Bottle. Light amber in color with a light pinkish head. Aroma of strawberries. Tastes sweet with a hint of strawberries. Not my usual type of beer but not bad at all.
3.512 oz bottle. Clear, dark ruby with a light pink head. Heavy tart strawberry nose. Medium body, light lacing. Intensely sweet strawberry flavors, somewhat tart finish. If you’re in the mood for sweet, it’s right on. Actually, pretty good strawberry flavor. Borders on not being beer, but damn tasty.
3.11-1-08 bottle.
Slightly cloudy amber with fluffy white head. Smells of strawberries, apricot hops and malt honey. Taste is very fruity and sweet (shocking!). A bit too sugary sweet in the flavor for my liking. Decent mouthfeel - very carbonated and yet syrupy as well.
3.2Clear amber in color with a two finger thick bubbly head that goes down quickly. Aroma of strawberry jam and possibly bubble gum. Very bubbly body. Not quite as strawberry in flavor as in aroma.
3.8Orange to reddish color that is slightly hazed with an offwhite head. Smell is big on tart and sweet strawberries with just the slightest hint of funky yeast. Taste is fairly sweet with a mild tartness to accompany. Finishes a bit syrupy with a slight malty flavor along with the sweet strawberry. Nice carbonation with slightly viscous syrupy body. A bit artificial tasting and slightly cloying, but enjoyable as a sweet soda-like beverage more so than what I typically expect from a beer.
3.7Not as sour as I would like, but clearly recognizable as a lambic. There is some light barnyard in the aroma and flavor. A nice looking, red beer with pink foam. A little sweet, but not as sweet as Chapeau or Lindemans. A nice fruit beer.
3.5Københavnske Øldage 07. Bottle. This beer has a nice color like homemade strawberry juice. Both flavour and aroma has the notes of a nice, homemade strawberry juice, sweet like strawberries with sugar, but it also has a nice berry acidity. It would be great as an aperitif or with a suitable desert. Uncomplicated and charming, easy to drink... 2151
3.535.5 cl bottle. Appearance: light red brown, clear, with little beige head. Aroma: sweet and fruity with some hops hided behind strawberry effervescent powder. Flavor and Palate: fruity strawberry effervescent powder, sweet, with a medium bitter finish. Nicely balanced later you discover the Geuze notes in this beer. After my thoughts for strawberry jam it finished with a dry and slightly bitter hop aroma. Overall a fine example of a fruit lambic.
3.3Bottle. Copper pour and very clear. Aroma of strawberrys. taste was strong strawberrys, not bad at all
1.9In short: A strawberry strudel in a bottle. Kind of gross. Overrated.
How: Bottle 330ml, 4 months old
The look: Almost clear copper body with a small white head leaving good lacings
In long: Strong aroma of strawberries and whip cream. Taste is full of strawberries, rather sweet, commercial caramel candies, some milky elements, some soft ripe apples, some wood/oak flavour that didn’t fit in at all. Overall impression of eating a strawberry strudel while taking sips of a 7-up. Acceptable as a dessert sipper but I thought it was actually pretty bad with big sips. Let’s be honest, you are more likely to find a good steak in England than a good spontaneous fermentation beer. And that says a lot.
