Menabrea Ambrata

Menabrea Ambrata

Bottle: Filtered
Premium Amber Beer

A well-balanced beer with a marked floral fruitiness coming through from the aromatic yeasts used in its production.
11.8P

For a while "La 150° and/or "Anniversario" was added to the name. By 2017 the La 150° / Anniversario had been dropped.

3.1 Buona birra ambrata ben equilibrata e discretamente corposa, buon aroma equilibrato
2.8 Aroma; scents of malts, floral hops, leaves. Look; off-white head on clear bright amber body. Taste; flavours of caramel, malts, bread, bun, floral notes, shy hops, toffee and honey notes, and finishes to the malted side. Feel; okay body but fizzy co². Overall; strongly carbonated vienna. [bottled 33cl, import by saue, exchange, he got Nøgne new wit can]
2.9 Bottom-fermented 'premium' amber beer from an old Italian industrial style brewery (in existence since 1848), distributed by very industrial Forst since the nineties. Bought from an Italian delicacy shop in Waasmunster. Pale greyish-tinged off-white, moussy, medium thick, cobweb-lacing head resting stable on a crystal clear, pure and deep 'ruddy' amber coloured beer with lots of sparkling. Aroma of cooked cloth and melting rubber - the unmistakable effects of pasteurization, toasted peanuts, caramel but not in a sweet way, rusty iron, old crackers, grass, dried basil, vague old dusty hazelnut touch. Clean onset, no fruitiness, going straight to a slick, bit glueish maltiness, medium carbonated, tasting like peanuts, caramel and a bit of toast, the latter in an industrial way (prepacked crackers or something) with a slight metallic side note; ends mildly bitterish from the toastiness of the malts more than from hops even if a grassy note is certainly there, but the pasteurization that killed the beer is there too, with a rubbery, bubblegummy and 'cooked cloth'-like effect draped over everything - effectively ruining the beer for me. Very 'easy' industrial Wiener, admittedly a style you do not see often, but feeling like a maltier version of standard pale lager, which is basically what it comes down to in this case. Opt for Moretti La Rossa instead, if you insist on having an Italian industrial amber lager to wash down the pizza, of course... A stark contrast with all those beautiful craft beers Italy has brought forth in the past few decades.
2.9 330ml bottle, online from Beers of Europe. Pours amber pour with a white head. Aroma: toasted bread, caramel. Taste: light sweet & light to moderate bitter, malt led with light floral hops. Medium body and moderate carbonation. OK, goes down easy enough

3.2 Old rating from 2014 - 330ml bottle, pours caramel with a small white head. Aromas & tastes of caramel, toffee, flora, honey & malt. Moderate body. Light bitter finish
2.9 De color cobrizo, con un cordón espumoso de baja retención. Cuerpo ligero y carbonatación media/baja. Aroma a miel y pan. En boca es una cerveza dulce, gracias a la miel, el caramelo y una sensación de almíbar pero sin llegar a ser empalagosa.
2.8 Slightly dryish, amber lager, fruity-caramel and floral-honey notes, pleasant aftertaste. Good balance. But a little heavy to drink.
3.2 330ml bottle, my third amber lager. Amber pour with then head, minimal retention. Aroma is toasted bready and caramel malts. Taste is the same at first but then has earthy floral hops to offset a little and adds a moderate bitterness to the finish. Moderate body and carbonation ok. Its not as good Brooklyn Lager or Samuel Adams Boston Lager which I have had previously but its decent if lacking in complexity.
2.6 Oct 2020. Small slim brown bottle, filtered, from Beers of Europe. A malty lager. I prefer these to the pale lagers, as these are closer in taste to beer. Soft hops add some interest. This is a cleanly made and reasonably attractive beer for malt lovers. Not great, but surprisingly tasty. Certainly easy drinking. I could sink a few of these in a bar or cafe without really noticing. [2.6]
3.4 Great for an amber
3.0 Bottle tasted Medium white head clear with copper color. Malt and herbal to the nose. Plum and stone fruits toffee honey caramel chocolate note grass. Medium body Medium carbonation with a sweet finish.
2.4 33cl fles bij Bella Storia. Amber kleur, witte kraag. Ruikt vooral naar caramel. Smaak is moutig, caramel, metaal. Geen topper.
1.3 Bottle sample at a tasting at Lior D's place. Thanks Odi. Clear amber. Oxidation, cardboard, honey, sweet, light-bodied.
2.4 Clear amber appearance. Aroma is malt and herbal. Flavour is sweet, grassy, hops and malt.
3.8 Copper appearance with a small head.Clear appearance with a slightly malty flavour and a medium body. Nothing to rave about but still a pleasant beer representing a nice style. Dont go out of your way to buy but if you do get a chance its worth trying.
1.2 Piva čudnog okusa i mirisa, aftertaste je loš i gorak
1.7 At Lior's Place, rusty with a small head, aroma of bread, caramel, flavor of bread, sugar, mushrooms, light bodied
2.7 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Quite sweet, somewhat corny, hints of caramel. OK.
3.2 Nagyon szép sötét árnyalatú megjelenés. ízében ennyi édeskés hatás diszkréten megjelenik, amivel egyet lehet érteni. habja nem túl sok volt szegénynek.
2.9 First time seeing this brand, although I’ve previously traveled through Italy. Tried a bottle at a local Italian pizzeria in SC, hoping for some authentic birra artigianale. This was disappointingly a rather mainstream European macro Vienna lager, but that being said it had some distinct flavors and a bit of character that made it worth a try. On the nose, this was a syrupy caramel malt with some tangy sweet notes akin to balsamic vinegar. Flavor is predominantly warming caramel malt, but it does have a decent floral hoppy bitterness that adds some balance and complexity. Finishes with a burnt caramel note and a touch of earthy hop bitterness. Medium bodied and full flavored, this is not bad for the style. Reminds of Negra Modelo with a little more hop flair.
3.1 Caramelkleurig amber, helder... moutig, beetje caramel niet heel stevig... fris bitter licht zoetje... middelange moutige afdronk... beetje saai
3.1 Malty and sweet with caramel and some bread crust. Some floral hops but definitely malt dominated. Decent.
2.4 Not brilliant. Too much malty sweetness. Good bitterness and a floral note.

2.5 Pours clear amber with a one finger, off white head. Aroma is light fruit and light roast. Taste is light raisin, moving to roast. Finish is roast. A so-so amber.
2.5 Copenhagen 2/6 2019. 33 cl bottle from Voldby Købmandsgård (web-shop). Menabrea's usual design with two Lions apparently brewing beer. Pours clear amber with a medium-sized white head. Bubbly. Settles as thin layer just managing to cover the surface of the beer. No lacing. Aroma is medium intense dominated by sweet malts. Caramel, light roastiness and hints of toffee. A very light metallic edge. Medium strong carbonation. Thin, watery, lively texture. Flavor is medium sweet followed by moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter sweet and lingers for a short while. What I wold expect from a Amber Lager - caramel sweetness and not much else.
3.3 750ml bottle. Aroma is mainly caramel. The taste is pleasant and the palate is smooth.
3.6 750ml Bottle as a gift: Quite a clear, copper tinged amber that comes with a very nice three centimetre tall head on top that's foamy & white with the odd bubble on the surface & good retention too. The nose is a sweet one with toffee & caramel malts kicking things off along with some biscuit but it's not too strong & the sweetness definitely dominates with a lot of sugars in there too. The taste is almost identical to the nose, perhaps with even more sweetness from the caramel & toffee coming through but I got a slightly earthy feel towards the middle with yet more sugars. It's a smooth, obviously sweet beer but not to the point of being sickening & it sat with a light-medium body coupled with average carbonation level that made it fairly easy to drink.
2.4 330ml bottle from Beru Vykhodnoy in Moscow. Pours amber with a tall off-white head. Aroma is cooked vegetalbles and caramel malt. Taste is light sweet, corn, a bit metallic, light bitter finish. Not enjoyable.
