Merlin Černý

Merlin Černý

Original.

3.3 On tap @ Melypont. Pours black with beige head. Pleasant coffee, roasted malts and toffee notes with slight hops underlying.
3.8 Keg at prague beer museum namesti miru. Pours deep brown, nose is malty toffee, bready, caramel, taste is sweet, malty, chewy, light roast malts.
3.6 tap @ cech in (budapest) dark colour, medium body, semi carbonated, roasted malty, dark chocolate, coffee, bit dry in the end
Pours very dark with a creamy, long lasting, khaki head, good lacing. Looks like a Guinness. Sweet and roasted aroma, milk chocolate and coffee. Mid-dry and light mouthfeel, mild carbonated. Roasted and chalky taste, milk chocolate, cocoa, black coffee and caramel. Creamy mid-sweet finish.
3.4 (Keg at Tlustá Koala, 20160613) The beer poured nearly black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, chocolate and grass. Palate was rather full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, caramel, sweetness, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt, malty and bitter. Quite decent schwarz.
2.9 Black with nice tan head and ruby highlights. Aroma has a ton of vanilla, sweet notes and a bit of roast. Taste is a bit acrid with roast notes and a bit of sweetness. Not the best example of the style I’ve ever tasted.
3.5 Keg at Beer Museum Pub, Prague. A deep brown colour with a thick, foamy beige head. Aroma of roasted barley (like biscuit) some treacle, slight smoke and subtle nuts. Taste of roasted malts, treacle, caramel, some nuts, slight chocolate, a little smoke and late grain. Medium bodied and moderate carbonation. A dry, roasted, chocolate bitterness in the finish. What a surprising schwarzbier, more like a stout. Roasty, chocolatey, treacley with a decent bitter finish.
3.2 Tap @ Prague Beer Museum. Nice head with good suration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are roast malt, caramel, notes of chocolate and little hops
3.3 330 ml bottle. Pours dark brown colour with small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, caramel. Medium body with average carbonation and bittersweet taste.
3.1 Dark brown, cear. Nice brown yellow foam. Mild aroma of malt, sour. Sweet, toffee, burned sugar, with burned sugar bitterness in the aftertaste
3.2 Bottle from the Dram Shop, in Sheffield. Pours mahogany with a cream head. The aroma isn’t great. It smells like dog food to me. The taste is much better. Light spice and roast malt. Chocolate and coffee notes. Quite high carbonation, but a fairly creamy body. The finish is slightly metallic.
2.8 Aroma burnt, coffee, malt. The taste is rather dry and at the same time karmelny. In the aftertaste of coffee, burnt crust of bread and a bit of charcoal, a little bitterness.
2.8 Schwarze Farbe mit dunklem, sehr festem "Bauschaum". Das Bier riecht nach Rum, Weinbrandt und Rosinen. Der Geschmack ist Kaffe und erwas metallisch. Schokolade im Abgang. Sehr trinkbares, süffiges Schwarzbier ohne die typische unangenehme Süße.
3.1 Dense compact foam covers a faint aroma of hard roasted malt with slight licorice notes. The taste is characterized by good dark caramel with a little roasted malt notes and licorice. It is a somewhat sweeter schwarzbier than German ones, and although I swear most of the German schwarzbiers, then I find in this Czech a nice balanced product where a gentle hop bitterness put a fine edge of sweetness. It is easy to drink and tasteful and quite live up to the good quality as you would expect with Czech beer. Really fine beer.
3.0 Pours dark brown, with tan head. Stable and low foam. Carbonation quite high for this style. Aroma of coffee and chocolate and sour cherries. Palate is thin given but given its ABV quite normal. Taste is complex with sour roasted maltiness, rye bread, coffee and quite bitter noble hops ending. No chocolate in taste despite the aroma. Not a bad brew although lacks some complexity and robustness.
2.6 Typical dark beer, with strong body, some foam in the top, medium bitterness, flat, (drunk on 50cl glass in Brno bar).
3.0 Bottle. Black, small beige head. Aroma malt, hints of coffee. Taste sweet malty. Medium body, low carbonation.
3.1 (Can) Dark brown colour, almost black, with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with black rye bread, caramel, chocolate, coffee and a touch of liquorice. Malty, roasted taste with notes of black rye bread, coffee, chocolate, liquorice, dried fruit and a gentle, roasty bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Well balanced and tasty, but not the most intruiging dark Czech. Quite enjoyable.
2.7 DØE. Hazy very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, bread and dark malts. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter. Sweet finish. 280515
3.3 Bottle 0,33l. Black body, medium beige head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, raisins. Taste is dry with strong roasted bitterness, light sour on the end. Caramel, raisins, burn malts, toasted coffee. Medium body and carbonation. Good one.
3.7 Bottle 0,33l. Clear, black colored beer. A bit sweet aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, plums, prunes, raisins, slightly burnt malt. Flavor is intensive but smooth, semi-dry, slightly sour, tones of very dark chocolate, raisins, some burnt notes in aftertaste. Great one, delicious.
3.6 Tap @ La Vache folle. Black coloured with a beige head. Nose is toasted malts, bread, chocolate malts. Flavour is toasted malts, bread, bit of chocolate, hint of smoke. Nice bitterness, and fortunately not too sweet. Medium carbonation. Well drinkable. Good stuff.
2.9 Keg at Beer Museum in Prague Day 5 of Fergus and Sarah’s Czech jaunt. 3/10/14. Opaque black, ruby red coloured pour with a lasting cream head. Aroma is sweet and woody, creme caramel, , bark, burnt sugar. Flavour is composed of woody, brown sugars, toffee and caramel. Palate medium light bodied, cremay on the tongue, moderate carbonation.
3.0 Cervesa molt suau i fàcil de beure, té tocs torrats i dolços i un cos molt lleuger.
2.2 KRS 181014. Dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is roasted malt, coffee, butterscotsch, fruit. Flavour is fruit, roasted malt, coffee, butterscotsch, caramel. Medium body. Ordinary beer.
3.3 On tap@Jazzcup Copenhagen. Dark brown, almost black, with light brown head. Aroma of roast malt. Taste of even more roasted malt in a very agreeable way. Tones of liqourice, bread and subdued hop. Not sweet like other dark beers and with a nice bitterness in the aftertaste...again dominated by perfectly roasted malt. Dark beers are not normally my favourite, but I like this one. Has traits of porter, yet it is clearly a schwarzbier.
