2.8Bottle. Pour is turbid golden color with a very small white head. Aroma is light wheat, light sour, and some faint spice. Flavor is pretty standard. Spicy, light hay, and light wheat. There is a slightly acrid flavor in the finish that is a touch offputting. I have noticed this flavor is several of AB’s products recently. It would have been solid without it.
2.412 ounce bottle from a mixed 12 pack. Aroma has plenty of spicy, coriander, and banana esters. Not too bad. Nothing wrong here. Moderately hazy yellow-golden body with a small, quickly dissipating white head. A wheat should definitely have a bigger, frothier head than this. A little spicy and herbal to start, which becomes a little citrussy in the middle. Then it becomes pretty thin and watery. Not too much else going on. Some slight esters, but this is lacking.
2.8Pours hazy yellow with a decent white head and a banana aroma. Lots of banana ester in the flavor, along with a slightly sour wheat taste. Not too bad for a wheat beer.
3.312 oz. bottle- Pours golden with almost no head, aroma is of yeast and wheat. The flavor is wheat and somewhat watered down, last night I had two authentic German hefe’s and there is no comparison, this beer is ok but not great.
3.012 oz bottle. Pours a cloudy pale orange with a small white froth and large carbonation bubbles. Aroma is heavy wheat, banana, a bit gummy. A bit too sweet and sugary, but not wholly unpleasant. Flavor starts a bit stagnant, sweet and banana runts. Gains a bit of spiciness part way through with some wheat. Finishes smooth with hardly any bitterness. Medium body and soft carbonation. Not bad, just missing the complexity and zing
3.0Pours a slightly hazed gold with a white head. Aroma is wheat, yeasts, spices, esthers. Flavor is wheat, yeasts, spices, esthers, touch of banana and fruit. Decent Hefe but a little on the boring side.
3.712 oz bottle. Smells of pepper, clove, banana. Pours hazy gold with a head which disappears extremely quick. Crap lacing. Taste is--wow--like a German Hefe. This is extremely surprising to me--this is AB, after all! Not bad. Medium carbonation, nice aftertaste. Other than the appearance and a slight carbonation problem, this is not a bad beer at all. A worthy attempt to make an authentically tasting Bavarian Hefe.
2.8Sampler pack bottle pours hazy golden with a good bit of banana in the nose. Flavor is bubble gum, clove, tart wheat and banana. Decent attempt.
2.8Bottle from sampler pack. Aroma is very mild, clove and sweet bananna. Pours hazy yellow, with mild carbonation, not much head. Flavors were bubblegum, mild hops, very smooth malts, a little sweetness at the finish. Goes down smooth and refreshing, nice on this mild fall afternoon. A nice wheat beer, but maybe too simple in it’s makeup.
2.6Overall, not a bad effort by Michelob. Strong banana smell, pours golden yellow. Could not drink too many of these, glad it was part of a sampler.
3.1Pours hazy yellow with a four finger foamy off-white head. Aroma is pretty much banana. Not quite medium body with decent carbonation. Flavor is banana, wheat, and a touch of clove. Rather crisp. Not the best, but far from the worst.
2.712 once bottle from a sampler. Pours a very, very, very, extraordinarily lighty hazed very, very pale golden yellow. Thin head. Poo head retention and lacing. Aroma is banana with nutty bread notes. Taste is bread with faint banana notes and maybe some other fruits. Not bad, but generic and bland. Medium bodied.
0.5Much better than expected, nice citrus and wheat aroma. Strong carbonation and semi cloudy pale amber color. Great flavor for a macro wheat, not skunky, no horrible aftertaste. Well balanced, notes of citrus, bread, and yeast.
3.0Much better than expected.pours a lightly cloudy pale yellow. Clovey aroma & taste, light banana but cloves dominate. not bad
2.9~Aroma is full of yeasty phenols. Banana dominates along with some clove and a mild bubblegum
~Pours a straw gold color that is mostly clear with a slight haze. Head is small and creamy.
~Flavor is to similar to aroma, although a bit more tart. Some grainy flavor.
~Medium light body with medium high carbonation. Funny tart banana finish.
~Nice hefe. The tartness in the tip of tongue and at finish annoys me. Makes it less palatable for me. Could be because I just had a porter. Decent overall. Would enjoy on a hot day.
3.1Tasted blind. Lightly hazy yellow, thin white head. Nose is big banana, some clove, nice bubblegum presence. Sweet hay-like malt. Flavor is banana, bubblegum, clove. Finish is a bit sweet. Under-carbonated.
3.210/19/2009: Michelob Bavarian Style Wheat Unfiltered Ale... Aroma: Very inviting blend of banana, yeast, and clove; the banana is most pronounced and smells a bit like Banana Laffy Taffy. Appearance: Cloudy; pale but bright golden yellow; 1-2 fingers of off-white head that receeds at fairly quick pace; lasting crown; plenty of carbonation without looking overly carbonated. Flavor: Weak wheatiness; more banana, some yeast and lightly spicy clove; refreshing; thin finish; good aftertaste. Palate: Medium-light; soft texture; decent tingle on the tongue; airy, but not over carbonated. Overall: Refreshing and plenty flavorul; actually, it pretty good; a much better attempt than the Michelob Rye P.A.; I’d buy this again in the future...
12 fl. oz. bottle ( 09219 vc02) from Tmoney99. Thanks again Tom! Rating #167 for this beer.
3.2Bottle. Aroma of banana and clove. Hazy Yellow body with white head. Decent surprising flavors of vanila cream, banana and so zesty wheat in the mix. Was more of witbier to me anyway.
3.1Pour a hazy gold will a thick head that disapears rather quickly. Aromas of yeast, babana, bubble gum and cloves. Flavor of banana, cloves and yeast. Not too bad at all for an AB product.
2.8Serving: 12 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Cloudy goldish orange color with a foamy, off-white head.
Aroma: Decent spice notes with solid wheat and banana notes.
Flavor: Wheat forward with some clove, banana, and a touch of sweetness.. I am not sure I would call this a German Hefeweizen.
Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium-light, slightly dry mouthfeel and a medium-short, wheat finish.
Overall: Certainly not the worst hefeweizen I’ve ever had, but a little too forward with all of it’s components. Take it or leave it.
2.5bottle. Yeah right, bavarian style. sure. bready, bananas and bubblegum aromas and flavors...but pretty artificial. Not the worst swill ever, but not really good either.
2.8Had this at a Halloween party. It pours a hazy amber with a fairly thick but not too persistent off-white head. Aroma is wheaty and yeasty, about average. Flavor is strong and wheaty, typical but at least it is quite firm. Texture is fizzy and fairly smooth. OK, but craft brews are better.
3.2My favorite ever from AB. Dispersion of particles seems a little odd, color is perfect, aromas of banana and clove, check. It’s minus some impact over the best examples but it’s definitely all there and without flaws. Great job A-B!
3.312 oz bottle: Aroma is bubblegum, wheat clove, some orange peel. hey it actually smells like a Hefe. Appearance is a cloudy orangish/ golden color witha large head that diminishes into white film. Taste is clove, banana, light citrus, and a bubblegum note as well. Palate is carbonated, bubbly, and the aftertaste has a lingering wheat tone. Overall, I pleasantly surprised with this beer. Cheers!
3.1Pours somewhat cloudy golden color with a nice white head. Surprisingly good aroma, wheat with some nice clove and bubblegum notes. Similar flavor, but more mild, the cloves are not as noticeable with more of a banana/bubblegum flavor. Somewhat thin bodied, but overall it surpassed my expectations and without the Michelob label might be slightly higher rated.
2.4Aroma - heavy wheat, clove, banana;
Appearance - golden, very hazy, almost opaque, fluffy head, poor lacing;
Flavor - mild wheat front, back has a hint of banana, spicy clove finish;
Palate - overbearingly crisp mouthfeel, average body;
Overall - decent for a commercial wheat, though the extremely crisp mouthfeel destroys much of the brew’s flavor.
1.9hazy yellow color, fluffy white head, good lace. nose of huge banana, clove, bubble gum...not a good sign. flavor is much better than the nose, which is to say, not very good. milder banana flavors mixed with clove and bubble gum. a touch fizzy in the mouth feel, medium bodied, banana finish. l should have stopped at the rye-p.a. in the sampler case i got from sam’s club in matteson.
3.4Enjoyed from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a hazy medium yellow color, with a sizable, but not outlandish white head. The nose shows aromas of banana and a decent amount of clove-like phenols that are on par with the better examples of the style. The palate is light, but not insipid, giving a nice level of pilsner malt sweetness, balanced by the aforementioned esters and phenols in flavor form. The finish is nicely balanced, as well; giving some residual sweetness, but being dry enough to be quickly consumable. Overall, I was essentially expecting a slightly altered Bud Light. Instead, this is a solid example that bests even some authentic German hefeweizens.
1.9Bottle. Poured a hazy cloudy color with a little one and a half finger white head. Nothing to fave about. Aroma was weaker with some spice and cloves coming through. Flavor was what you’d expect from an AB beer, not a lot there. Thin and watery body. Nothing that great
3.2The surprise in the Michelobe sample pack. Aroma of yeast, bubblegum, banana, cloves and a hint of alcohol. Classic, cloudy orange/yellow appearance, with afizzy mouthfeel. Light and refreshing that trails off with a touch of bit of sourness. Very true to style.
