A combination of a porter (dark ale) and lager, this brand was introduced in early 1998. Chocolate, caramel and pale malts produce a rich, roasted flavor with a slight coffee note and a light, clean finish.

2.6I remember when I first started appreciating good beer. I thought that this was one of the best beers in the world. how times have changed. This really isn’t bad for a Black and Tan in a bottle.
2.3oan ok beer NO BLACK AND TAN but whatever a ok beer from AN-BUSH drinkable for sure not overly bad try one today
1.4Bottle. Not too bad considering this is an anheuser-busch beer. Somewhat smooth but I’m not a porter fan.
1.6Pours a dark brown color with slightly tan head. Aromas of malt with hints of caramel. Taste follows aroma. Not bad for A-B, but would stop well short of labelling it Black & Tan.
2.0I’m sick of these AB attemps at hacking into the microbrew market. This crap has got to be Amber Bock with a different label and that can’t be a good thing.
2.5Dark brown to black color. Aromas of malt and hints of caramel. Caramel and chocolate flavors, not bad for a A-B.
1.3Bottle. Medium brown with a small white head. Slight roasty aroma. Watery flavor of corn leavings This beer looks like a porter, but doesn’t taste like one. Avoid.
2.1Not much mouthfeel from this one, but I have to give points for the effort to make a dark beer. Taste is somewhat tolerable, but then again Michelob is always a better choice than bud.
2.0At a weird bar in a strange place this was in the cooler (age may have an effect on rating!!--bottle cold but dusty). Not very tastey and still the American ale corn finish but a better option than the ultra.
1.5It’s a real dark beer, I didn’t enjoy the taste to much. It’s not a good enough beer for me to go out and buy a six pack of.
1.8pours dark, notmuch for smell, body is thin and watery, it reminds me more of a brown ale rather than a porter. it is drinkable, but id never buy it again.
2.9good dark colour, thin-bodied for a Porter, faint aroma; roasted malt taste, clean bitter finish.
0.5This is a black-and-tan like Slayer is a bluegrass band. This beer is confused- it doesn’t know what it wants to be. Sweet? Hoppy? This is high-priced ditch water.
1.8Not the worst black and tan I’ve ever had but far from the best. When you want a b & t make your own.
0.7I thought "black and tan in a bottle?" It struck my curiosity, boy was I disappointed. To everyone out there that hasn’t tried it save your money. You can’t bottle a black and tan, it’s a work of art not a marketing scheme.
1.7This was ok, came from a sampler. Watery and light on taste. Not something I wuld go after.
2.4Better than the other Michelob’s that I had tasted up to this point. Yuengling still has this beat but for a black and tan it is quite drinkable, with a mello flavor and dark coloraton.
0.5Poor excuse for a Black and Tan. No head. Poor color. it isnt even mixed....
2.3Black and Tan. How can a beer in a bottle be a black and tan? It looks all to be one color. Therefore it is getting a "1" for appearance, for lying. I wouldn’t even bother to rate it but I am cleaning up my A-B ratings, and maybe I can steer someone away from this fallacious brew.
2.8Good tasting Michelob, but not their best. I would rate this as a lower end black & tan. Still a good beer, but if you expect a good b&t don’t get this.
2.6This is a good, poor man’s black and tan, decent dark color and smooth, with a good aftertaste. I don’t know if it tastes exactly like a true black and tan, but then again it’s a bottle of Michelob.
1.5Well, this is better than regular Michelob. Actually, its a lot better. Taste is slight dark roasted malt, not much hop, too carbonated.
2.1I got a variety pack with this, the Honey Lager, the Marzen and the Amber Lager and this was the best. It trys hard and does ok.
1.7This beer was left in my frig by the in-laws 9 months ago. I finally decide to try it. Pours a dark brown color with a medium head. Aroma is a little "off" in a way. Maybe it's the corn and lack of hops but this smells and tastes bad. Like mixing corn syrup with a decent sweet stout and then pouring it into a dirty glass, then you have the Michelob B&T. Next please...
2.1I like to have this beer in the summer when our trailer is to hot to live in.
1.9A step in the right direction for the Busch family. This porter is watery, not great, but half decent. I wouldn't drink this again, but I applaud Busch for making this. Maybe in ten years he'll make something that makes it into the 3s overall.
1.5I swear that I rated this already but what the hell, I guess I didnt. This stuff is dark, that is all I can say about it. Both the nose and the taste make me sick. I wish that I never would have drank this stuff. Sorry I cant contriubute more than this to the site. I will make up for it next time I have something worth reviewing.
2.8Pours dark, but thin. There's an off-white head that disapears pretty quickly. I agree with the other reviewer who stated that the moutfeel was too thin for the style. It just doesn't feel right. The taste is OK....nothing special. But kudos to Michelob for at least trying different. A good gateway beer for someone looking to get into darker beers.
2.3Pours deep black with an off white head.
Smells slightly roasted and thats about that, not a whole heckuvalot goin on there. Faint caramel and chocolate come through on the nose as it warms but still very faint.
Taste is roasted with chocolate malts and some caramel. A slightly clean, bitter finish but still not really a whole lot goin on. It brings a whole lot more to the table than any other AB product though.
Mouthfeel is too thin for this style.
Overall, I would say this isn't a great beer but it' s definitely not a horrible beer. Actually it surprised me just how palatable this selection actually is. It's by no means something to write home about but if nothing better than AB/Miller/Coors is available, I'd take this without thinking twice.
2.5Not much to talk about. Aroma is just a little malt but I can't get anything more. Hard to distinguish flavors. I might try one again sometime to re-rate.
