Michelob Pale Ale

Michelob Pale Ale

Michelob Pale Ale is a classic English-style pale ale brewed with classic noble aroma hop varieties grown in the Northwestern United States and Europe, as well as two-row and caramel barley malts. With a dark-gold color, this beer has a spicy, hoppy character. A pale ale pairs well with full-flavored meats, like steak. This beer is best enjoyed in a tall, fluted pilsner glass.

2.0 no one wants a craft beer from the big boys. a attempt to make money off of the craft beer consumer. not terrible but not greatyou might round one down before a concert to save a buck
2.8 Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a mug. Color was a clear amber orange. A nice layer of head, but it fades down quickly, leaving little lacing. Well the smell definitely is of floral hops. Not to many malts going on. A low level of pale malts. Taste is of grassy hops, a lot more than I expected. Carbonation level is pretty good, leaving the mouthfeel a little bitter and dry, but overall not to bad. Overall this is a decent beer for the price. Nothing too amazing for a pale ale, but at a buck a bottle what would you expect. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 11-09-2008 08:13:05
1.9 This is one of the weaker cases for a pale ale I’ve seen. Now I understand this is supposed to be an "English" version so the hops are not nearly as pronounced as a typical American pale ale version but the aroma was of decaying grain, nothing of fresh hops at all. The flavor was very awful as well, a touch of burnt caramel and then a slight bittering at the end the hops make a half-assed attempt the throw some pine flavor your way but it just isn’t enough. Meh, from Michelob I’d rather just have the regular lager from them before this.
2.0 Someone gave me a case of Michelob so I thought I should at least rate it. Mahogany with white head...doesn’t persist. Aroma is hoppy but with slight buttery and cheesy odors. Taste is moderately hoppy but not well balanced. Hops taste sour. Somewhat unpleasant. Bitterness lingers unpleasantly. Still better than a bud.
3.2 A decent offering from Anheuser-Busch... Surprisingly hoppy. Medium copper color. Given to me by my father-in-law at the family reunion. Enjoyable :-)
2.7 Pours pale yellow in the glass. Nose is very floral hops. Taste is very acidic, some hops and lemons. Rated 1/15/2000
2.0 Bottle. Poured a weaker yellow color. What can you really expect? It is an AB product. Clean and crisp. No real body or flavor. Very watery. Thin. Below average.
2.9 Anheuser-Busch, Inc.--Michelob Specialty Brewing Group--Pale Ale--1997 12 oz. Bottle. 5.20% ABV. (2.75 / 5.0) Light balanced version of Pale Ale. Anheuser-Busch, Inc.--Michelob Specialty Brewing Group--Pale Ale--1998 12 oz. Bottle. 5.20% ABV. (2.75 / 5.0) Nice amber golden pale color. Light malt but clean, balanced and hoppy.
3.1 April 14, 2010; 12 oz. bottle. Acquired this bottle from a friend -- apparently part of Michelob/A-B variety pack. First order of business is to check any brand prejudice at the door. That said, I’m certain this brew would score considerably better than a pathetic "18" rating in a blind taste test. Orange color; respectable lacing. Aroma is mostly malt -- candy & fruit -- while hops dominate the taste. The bitter finish was pleasantly surprising. Not the "best" pale ale, but there’s nothing at all offensive about this one -- to the contrary, I can’t believe a brew branded Michelob is this enjoyable. Tastes even better as it warms up -- do NOT drink this ice cold. Encouraging effort from a macrobrewer to reach out to craft beer fans -- I would definitely buy this if made available in a six-pack.
2.1 Bottle. Pours a copper with a small frothy off white head that leaves good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a vegetable malt with raisin and hay. Medium mouthfeel with a bitter malt with a dry finish. Not too much going on with this pale ale from Michelob.
2.6 The aroma and appearance are nice, but the beer lacks an overall "body" that I expect to come with a good pale ale. This beer does not overpower you with the hoppiness like other PA’s do, making it more acceptable for those who are just breaking into the realm of different types of beer other than the standard shit like bud.
2.7 Variety pack bottle. Clean hoppy, grass, floral aroma. Nice head, that stayed for several minutes. Great pour. Flavor was hoppy, which was expected, but not as complex as I would like. Has a bit of bite to it, and is bitter as I like in an english style pale ale, but is still fairly weak, without layers. Clean finish, but I wasn’t left wanting a second, which is the hallmark of the bitters and pale ales I like most. Still, for the price, I would buy this again rather than throw my money at other beers. At least this one made an effort to win me.
2.1 Pours a clear light copper color with a white head. Aroma is crystal malt, grain, and floral hops. Flavor is caramel, grain, and some bitter earthy hops.
3.9 An clear amber-gold pour with medium off-white head. The aroma is of light floral and herbal hops, with a hint of barley. The taste has a medium body with decent hop bitterness throughout to the dry finish. Don’t let the brand scare you away from this one.
2.6 bottle thanks to bhensonb. poured gold with a thin fading white head. aroma was a strong malt backbone followed by a sun block type scent and some fruityness. flavor was malt and some grassy floral hop thing going on. light-medium body with high carbonation. not bad but not good.
3.6 Pours a hazy amber. Malts and more hops than I was expecting on the nose. Very pleasant taste to it really. Floral and citrus hops shining through. If you’re expecting a very hoppy experience you won’t get that but it does have a nice hop presence to it. I was impressed really. Not a bad brew at all.
2.4 has an okay aroma of mild citrus hops, something was off in the taste. had a bitter alcohol taste to it that lingered in the aftertaste and made this beer not so enjoyable.
2.4 More aroma than I expected with a little maltiness and bitterness. Amber color with nice initial head that dissipates to a rim. Mild flavor with a hint of hoppiness and sweetness in the finish and a barely detectable metallic quality. Fairly thin, smooth mouthfeel. Decent. Nice labeling
2.6 12 ounce bottle from a mixed 12 pack. Aroma is kinda of a musty, stale, swampy hop aroma. Lightly grassy and metallic. Transparent copper body with a decent, frothy off yellow head. Starts with a little grassy and herbal hop flavoring. Becomes a little cardboardy in the middle, before finishing with just a bit of herbal spicy hoppiness. A little thin, and somewhat unoffensive, if not pedestrian.
2.3 Pours golden amber with a modest white head and a light malt aroma. The caramel malt actually has some flavor and there is a modicum of hop bitterness. It’s a step up for Michelob, but doesn’ t hold up to the good microbrews.
2.7 12 oz. bottle- Pours amber golden with little head, almost no aroma and the flavor is not that great. A very boring- mediocre Pale ale.
2.1 12 oz bottle. Pours clear dark golden with a small white froth. Aroma is very caramel and toffee with some graininess. Just a bit of piney hops but almost all sweet sugary malts. Flavor starts with a lot more caramel, super sweet. Picks up more light biterness, just a bit thoug without much of a defining character. Finishes a bit spicy bitter and lightly grainy. Medium bodyt and a sharp carbonation. Bland pale ale
2.8 Bottle at my company holiday party. A little underrated on here possibly due to anti-macro bias. This doesn’t blow that hard! Pours a clear golden-amber color with a one-finger white head. Aroma is bready malts, caramel, and a little citrus fruit. Flavor is not bad at all. Bready pale and caramel malt, tropical fruit notes, and mild citrusy and floral hops. Really not hoppy at all for the style, but pleasant nonetheless. I would put this more into the amber ale category. Medium-light body with a pretty standard, unexciting mouthfeel. Pretty drinkable.
2.5 Pours an orange copper color with a white head. Aroma is bready malts, hops, and metallic. Flavor is bready malts, metallic water and a touch of hops.
2.5 Amber with a thin white head. Aroma is sweet and has a bit of diacetyl, but no real hop presence. Taste is the same with a pervasive sourness that blends in with some mild hop character. Carbonation is fairly brisk $2/12oz
2.6 12 oz bottle. Very little aroma here--faint aroma of pine, assembly line grains. Pours a light amber with a rocky head that dissipates fairly quick. Lacing is pretty good, surprisingly. Taste is of caramel, pine, and metal. Not enough carbonation--the same problem I tasted with the Rye P.A. This is an extremely boring pale ale, which is no surprise given the brewer. One final note: the label says English style, but it definitely has characteristics of American pale ales, too, which is not surprising given the Cascade hops it’s dry-hopped with.
2.5 ~spicy hop nose with resiny caramel malts. ~pours clear amber with small off white head. ~Caramel malts and spicy hop in flavor. ~Medium bodied medium carb. with hoppy finish. ~Decent pale ale. Not my favorite, but would drink again. Won’t buy again.
2.5 Serving: 12 oz. bottle. Appearance: Pale amber color with a small, foamy, off-white head. Poor head retention. Aroma: Some hops with floral and a slight citric character. Grain on the malt side. Flavor: A little short on the flavor profile with notes of floral and perhaps a bit grassy hops. There is a decent malt backbone, but it lacks flavor even thought it does have body. Palate: Medium carbonation with a medium mouthfeel and a medium-short, bitter finish. Overall: This is no English style pale ale. Not recommended.
2.0 Pours amber. Thin white head. Aroma grainy kind of pine. Flavor is earthy and metallic some bitterness kind of plane. Thin finish. Not such a great beer.
2.0 Pours a pale amber. Aroma is very subtle with hints of floral hops. Flavor is very light with a watery hops taste. Not very appealing, but I’m not completely appalled by the attempt at a more flavorful, mass produced beer.
