Michelob Porter

Michelob Porter

Michelob Porter is brewed using the finest classic aroma hop varieties grown in the Pacific Northwest United States and two-row, caramel and chocolate barley malts, giving it an aroma of coffee and a hint of chocolate. It is dark brown in color and, when held to light, ruby-red highlights can be seen. The porter complements a variety of cheeses, shellfish dishes as well as chocolate desserts, and is best enjoyed when served in a traditional pub style glass.

2.6 Bottle. Pours dark brown with almost no head. Sweet taste and aroma of roasted coffee. Thin and weak for a porter, but off the charts for a Budweiser product
1.4 Pours a deep mohagany with a thin head. Very little nose and the palate is a little roasted barley but over all not good. Sorry If you’ve had it.
2.9 Bottle; Used most to cook with. Dark cola brown. Aroma of caramel and roasted oats. Flavor was ok; a bit harsh, but ok. Actually tasted like the style, which was surprising
2.5 Black with tan head. Almost no aroma...faintly malty. Flavor is modest malt...hint of chocolate. Clean finish. Ok mouthfeel. Not bad for a macro.
3.4 Bottle served in a Sam Adams glass. Pours like cola, clear brown with a fizzy tan head. The smell is chocolate and doughy. The flavor is that of chocolate and molasses with a bit of a doughy finish. Body is thin and the carbonation a bit harsh. Quite balanced throughout. Very impressive for a macro.
2.1 Porter--1997 12 oz. Bottle. 5.00% ABV. (2.0 / 5.0) Deep Red Color. Cherry chocolate flavors. Light body. Very Sweet. Too much carbonation.
2.3 Not too bad of a porter from a macro. Pours a dark amber with little translucency. Brown head who dissipates quickly. Tastes smooth, but has a lingering burnt nutty taste.
2.8 Average porter not bad but not great. Chocolate and coffee malt flavor is present but no real balance between the two. Head was nice and did linger for a time.
3.7 Variety Pack Bottle. I was very surprised at how well this porter exceeded my expectations. It was my favorite of the collection featured in the box. The color was a rich dark brown, and the beer poured very well. The head was a creamy tan and stayed in place for an eternity. Very pleasing to the palate, with strong caramel and coffee malt flavors. The hopps seem to be more in the aroma, but were in the background for flavor as well. I was stunned by the quality of this beer, which was very affordable. I’ve paid more for porters that were not nearly as good. Its nice to know I don’t have to pay a lot, or leave the grocery store, to get something this good. Thumbs up
3.0 Dark, reddish-brown color with quickly dissipating head. Roasted malt and coffee nose. Malty intro with a well-carbonated mouthfeel leading to a burnt toast, cola, raisin-like finish.
2.7 Bottle. Clear brown with tan head. Aroma is pretty weak, somewhat roasted chocolaty. Flavor is decent to good, chocolate malt flavors with a nice roasted tone. The body is a little weak, but overall not a bad beer. I would look elsewhere for a great porter though.
2.7 Pours a brown color with a light brown head. Aroma is malty, toast, roast, and some earthy notes. Flavor is toast, caramel, and a bitter roast finish.
2.7 bottle thanks to bhensonb. poured dark brown with a beige head. aroma was chocolate, brownies, and coffee. flavor was coffee, baking cocoa, and a little bit of alcohol on the finish. body was almost medium with high carbonation.
3.6 Pretty decent porter. Pours a deep ruby/black into the glass with a tan head. Roasted malts, coffee, and hints of toffee on the nose. Lots of malt flavor. Aftertaste lingers a bit too. Pretty good brew. Worth a try.
2.6 Aroma of lightly roasted coffee, mild chocolate, and hints of mineral. Flavors of semi sweet chocolate, coffee, and roasted grains. Thin, watery mouthfeel. Not real exciting and rather boring.
3.5 has an okay roast/chocolate malt aroma. Taste is a roast malt with a hint of chocolate and caramel. body could be a bit thicker, but not too shabby.
3.6 A deep brown pour with red highlights and decent tan head. It has a sweet chocolate malt aroma with hints of caramel. The taste has a medium sweetness that fades to a slightly bitter finish. This medium body has an oily texture and lively carbonation.
2.8 12 ounce bottle from a mixed 12 pack. This has a nice, sweet, chocolately cocoa aroma. There is also a little metallic character, too. Pretty aromatic. Transparent mahogany body with a nice creamy off-yellow head. Starts a little roasted and burnt, with some mild chocolate flavors afterwards. Then it becomes a little watery towards the finish with some lingering herbal bitterness. Kind of thin and lacking, but there are much worse porters out there, like Labatt’s.
2.7 12oz bottle. Pours a very deep brown, almost black body with a finger-width, light brown colored head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is thinner, but it has a decent chocolate roastiness. A very light caramel and coffee grounds too. Flavor is similar. It takes a second to develop, but its not terrible. Thinner, lightly sweetened malts with a more noticable roastiness. Some chocolate and growing caramel sweetness towards the end where this finishes with a light acidic bitterness. Fairly dry with a moderate aftertaste. Light bodied and overly carbonated. Overall, fairly thin all-around and somewhat watery. The light roastiness keeps this tolerable, but besides that, its nothing special. Not terrible, but macro influenced.
2.6 Pours dark brown with a large tan head and almost no aroma. The flavor is mild coffee and treacle with a dry finish. Drinkable, but not remarkable.
3.2 12 oz. bottle- Pours almost black with almost no head, aroma is almost nonexistent, maybe some malt. The flavor is malt, pretty much your average porter, not horrible or great, totally mediocre.
2.8 12 oz bottle. Pours a deep clear brown with a small light tan froth. Aroma is very chocolate and coffee oriented. Nice sharp roasted malt, pleasantly surprised with the nose. Flavor starts with a sharp black malt zing. Gets a decent chocolate note and coffee flavor before a lightly bitter and black coffee finish. Medium body and a tingling carbonation. Surprised that it was decent but still weak in character compared to the big boys,
3.0 Pours a brown with a small light brown head. Aroma is roasted barley, water, grains and metal. Flavor is roast, barley, chocolate, water. Fairly safe porter but overall very drinkable.
3.8 12 oz bottle. Aromas of chocolate, caramel; sweet. Pours deep, deep brown with reddish tints. Tastes like an English-style porter; toasted malt, sweet. Creamy mouthfeel. Maybe slightly watery, but not bad at all. These Michelob beers constantly surprise me. Most of the time, these specialty beers from AB are pretty much mediocre to terrible, but every now and then they make a pretty good beer.
3.0 I didn’t have much expectations for this one, but I actually kind of enjoyed it, a nice easy drinking roasty porter, for those looking for the porter aroma and taste and a beer you can drink a few of, this is a viable option
3.3 Dark brown pour with tan head and lace. Aroma is medium toasted malt, some chocolate, and light coffee. The flavor mirrors the nose with a pretty nice finishing chocolate flavor. A bit fizzy and thin but really an ok porter.
3.2 A solid, easy-drinking, inoffensive porter suitable for beer geeks and swill drinkers alike. In make-up, it is similar to a black and tan style beer. Pours a dark brown body with ok head. Easy coffee and light chocolate nose. Smooth, lightly roasted barley flavor with a balanced finish. A mellow porter.
3.1 12 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a small head. This one surprised me; Anheuser Busch managed to make a good beer. It tastes like a real porter, if a bit bland. All the elements are there: roasted malts, smoothness, chocolatey finish. A great beer for the price.
3.5 ~Aroma of roasty, chocolate malts, nuts, and a toasty breadiness. ~Dark brown opaque color with ruby highlights. Small off white head with good retention. ~Moderate strong roasted chocolate flavor, with mild coffee, nuts, and some caramel. ~Medium light bodied with moderate carbonation. Roasty finish. Some astringency. ~ Tasty porter. Well made. If it had a different name I’m sure it would get a better rating....
3.0 Bottle. Aroma of mild roast coffee. Amber body with tan head. Mild flavors of chcolate, coffee and roast. Easy on the palate not bad by all means.
