3.4Bomber poured a clear dark reddish brown with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of plum, raisin, roasted mnalt and light molasses. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, cocoa and light dried fruit with a smooth lingering cocoa finish.
3.7My wife brought this one back from a trip to Rochester. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy brown head that lingered and left great lacing. The aroma was sweetish, malty and toasty with notes of cherry and berry underneath. The flavor was cherry and port wine followed by toasty malts and a bit of wood. Long almost roasty finish of cherry, port wine and wood. Moderately full bodied. Solid.
3.7This poured a medium to darker brown color with a lighter tan head. Aroma was of chocolate, light roast, and some green hops. Flavor was velvety smooth, but a bit watery chiocolate, not much roasted bitterness, and some green hops.
3.8Pours think but black with no head. Aromas of milk chocolate, cream, some roasted coffee. Taste is similar - smooth chocolate milkshake with some hops and roast. Thin mouthfeel is the only thing that detracts from this one. Good.
4.0Poured from 22 oz. bottle aged for 10 months.
Opaque, near black brown with 4-finger rich brown head and absolutely stunning lacing.
Aroma of sweet chocolate, roast dark malt, coffee and some sweet dark fruit.
Taste of sweet milk chocolate, dark fruit, cherry and dark roast coffee. A very nice balance of flavors.
Medium body and light/medium carbonation.
3.122 ounce bottle shared by Gillard, poured dark brown aromas of chocolate, dark fruit, light ash, and some earth. Flavors are the same, but extremly oxidized. Its a shame, was hoping that this would be a good one. Will have to find a fresher bottle.

Post Borefts I Invasion of Fonefan and Charlottes room tasting! Opaque dark brown beer. Rich dark malt, lightly toasted and a little bitter. Palate is dry. Mild minerally hop flavours peeping through at the end.
3.7Bottle shared at brew riot. Pitch black with a khaki head. Nose is roasted malts, chocolate, and syrup. Nice on the palate, great chocolate flavor, roasted finish, rather enjoyale for being out in the sun all day.
3.9Poured into my bruery tulip. Nice, two finger head stays with the drink with very nice lacing. Aroma of smokey coffee and sweet fruits. Taste follows the nose, a little to toasty, I’m loving the fruits, nice change in an impy stout. Mouthfeel is solid. Pretty good, under the radar stout!!!
3.8Bottle to get through Tuesday evening. Pours jet black with fluffy head really pleasant looking. Nose of chocolate and dark fruits. Tastes of bitter dark chocolate, blackberries, licorice, toffee, and resin. Great carbonation very drinkable impy stout
3.9Bottle purchased at "Beers of the World" in Rochester New York. Pours a motoroil like colour, completely opaque, khaki head and waves of lacing. Smells really malty, caramelized malt, some chocolate. Tastes bitter and malty of course, most certainly dark chocolate, its got a cola like mouth feel to it. Interesting.
2.8Tasted on 1/28/12 from a capped bomber bottle obtained in a trade. Pours a nearly black dark brown with an average, rocky, tan head that slowly recedes to rocky lace. The nose is darkly roasted coffee with some dark chocolate, and a pretty strange burnt plastic aroma. The flavor is pretty much the same, with a bit of a lightly smokey note. The body is full with average carbonation and a long coffee and burnt plastic finish with some bitterness.
3.9Poured from a large bottle. Dark with thin head. A little more chocolate than roasted malt. Pretty nice.
3.7650 mL bottle. Black with a nice, sticky, beige head. Smells British, not American, if that makes sense. Earthy hops, no booze, not huge. Taste is pretty much the same. I don’t mean to make this sound like a bad thing. It’s a solid stout, with lots of chocolate and a herbal touch from the hops. Alcohol is very well hidden.
3.8Weee my team won tonight! Time for a celebratory drink! Pours a black color with a rich brown head. Huge blasts of chocolate and hops in the aroma. Taste is very chocolatey with a burnt coffee aftertaste. Some nutty flavors as well. This beer is from syracuse which is awesome. Go ’Cuse!
3.722 oz. bottle aged 1 year 3 weeks. Purchased @ Table and Vine, West Springfield, MA for $8.99. Typical poor into a snifter. Nose has roasted malt, dark fruit and slight booze. Flavor is similar but a has a pronounced lingering dark fruit. BIG raisin or a prune like dark fruit. (Maybe from the age) You can pick up the English hops when warm. The body is in the medium range. High drinkability, I finished the bomber with ease. I only picked up the ABV slightly after it reached room temp. Well worth a try!
4.0Bomber from Half Time. Pours quite black with a 3 finger foamy/creamy tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate with some hoppy/veg notes. Full body. Flavor is chocolate, dark fruit, residue of burnt malt/ashy, and some mouth grabbing bitterness, buffered by what seems to be a touch of treacle. I’m also thinking this has floral, but the flavor is so strong and complex it’s hard to be sure. Anyway, if it’s an Impy Stout you want, with no frills and silliness, this is a very good choice.
3.3(Bottle from JB84) The look : Black body with a dense and long lasting tan head. Nice lacing. The nose : Deep dark malts, molasses, black chocolate and some fine smoke. The taste : Standards flavors of roasted malts, discrete hops and bitter coffee. Definitely a vinous side. The mouthfeel : Medium to full body with a soft carbonation and a oily texture. The finale : Light bitterness from burnt malts with a kiss from tasty alcohol. The appreciation : Just alright.
2.9Bottle: Poured a deep black opal color with a light brown head. Aroma is light in the nose with some coco. Taste is a chalky chocolate mix with some coffee bean and edgy hops.
4.1Middle Ages Dragonslayer is a pitch black syrup topped with a big, fluffy brown foam. The retention and lacing are outstanding. The aroma is of dark roast coffee, char and citrus peel. There may be a hint of dark chocolate. It’s pretty full bodied and very lively with a metallic feel. The finish is dry and mouth is left a wee bit chalky. It’s quite roasty tasting. It tastes a bit like espresso with a lemon peel in it. It’s a pretty bitter flavor and the bitterness lasts through the finish. This is a pretty drinkable imperial stout. That lemon zest bitterness seems to be what makes it unique. Me gusta.
3.7Cask at Old Toad Rochester. Pour dark black thin tan head good lace. Aroma chocolate, coffee, big roast, cereal grain espresso, cocoa , and hints of booze. Taste warm, roasty, bakers chocolate, cocoa, espresso, strong coffee, cereal grain. MF full creamy smooth body. Awesome stuff happy to try it on cask.
3.6Bottle. Pours black with a light brown heads that dissipates completely. Aroma is full of roasted malts and has some coffee notes with a hint of smoke as well. Flavor begins with roasted malts and is joined with coffee and bitter chocolate as well as a good amount of smoke.
3.6Bomber; thanks Dad! Pours black, opaque, with a 2-finger frothy dark brown head. A little lacing remains as the head recedes. Aromas of cocoa, slightly sweet roasted malt, alcohol, and mild nuttiness. The flavor is bitter roasted cocoa, vanilla, bitter alcohol, chocolate, and biscotti. Medium carbonation and dry, with a medium to full body. Good stuff; a nice, bitter imperial. [635]
2.6poured from a bottle into a snifter
very dark brown almost black, a nice thin head forms, decent carbonation. a little lacing on the edges and some swirls of foam sit on top all the way down.
Smells of malt, dark roast, licquorice some fig and raisin and quite a bit of alcohol. smells decent enough, a little high on roast and alcohol
taste is extremely bitter roast, burnt, lots of alcohol. i dont’ really get much but this heavy bitterness and burnt/roasty flavor. dissapointing, wish it tasted more like it smelled
mouthfeel was a bit thin, has a little stickiness but its not thick/syrupy/creamy like most RIS’ are.
drinkability is almost drainpour. hard to finish. too much alcohol and bitter astringency.
i tried to pair this up with a raspberry mascarpone dessert i made and it was a failure, this beer is way too bitter for that. use it in place of coffee after hammering out a big piece of pie or rich chocolate cake.
will not get this beer again.
4.1I’ve gotten several bottles of this in trades so I’m not sure how old this bottle is.
Pours a solid black with a big fluffy tan head that sticks around for a while. Nose is of chocolate syrup, a bit of perfume, some brown sugar, carob powder, a touch of alcohol. Taste hits with chocolate syrup mixed with hops. The hops push their way through the middle battling with some alcohol and dried dark fruit and winning, only to succumb to the roasted malt finish. Very complex taste, it seems I picked up something new with every sip, very nice! Mouthfeel is oily and resinous, body is medium at best, carbonation is a bit high. Very nice complex tasting stout. Lower the carbonation and up the body and I’d drink this every day.
3.4Poured into a snifter.
4.5 A: Black color. Two and a half fingers of hybrid frothy/creamy head. Good retention and plentiful lacing.
4.0 S: A lot of roasted barley, semi-sweet chocolate, touch of blackstrap molasses, sweet caramel maltiness. Very nice.
4.0 T: Biggest flavor is a burntness, which I incidentally didn’t detect in the nose. Loads of roasted barley, black coffee, and a touch of dark chocolate. The sweetness in the nose does not manifest in the taste which is too bad, because I like a good battle between roasty and sweet in RISs.
3.0 M: Lighter medium to medium body. Carbonation is a bit too aggressive and further takes away from what isn’t very creamy to begin with. Other than that no problems.
4.0 D: Love the roastiness, but a bit too dry for me. Would prefer a thicker body as well. Still, a pretty good brew.

3.8Bottle thanks to Tom. Pours black with a little head that lingers. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and alcohol. Nice full bodied mouthfeel that follows the nose. Ends with a sharp hops bitter with a little dryness. Alcohol is well hidden in this one. Not as robust as I would like it but pretty tasty none the less.
2.9Black body, tanned head. Some ash, liqourice and burnt malts in aroma. Way too dry and not in balance. It is ok, but something is missing.
3.8I got this from Da and Erica(my kids) for my B-day present. Wow, the foam on this kept coming after the pour was done. Stayed high and thick for a long time. Poured motor oil black. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, and sweet chocolate. Flavors of coffee, and sweet chocolate malt. Smooth drinking stout with great flavor.
