A Scottish "90/-" ale. Brewed only once a year, this ale is rich and full with a dryness that is beautifully balanced with a classic malt sweetness.

3.7Pours brown with a tan head. Smells of sweet malt, spicy, some smoky elements. Tastes of caramel, fruity, earthy, spicy, some light smokiness. Nice.
3.7Sampled at Springslickers Fish Fry. Pours muddy brown with a tan head. Aroma of fruity esters and malt. Medium bodied with soft to average carbonation. Flavor of rich caramel, cherry, and a hint of peat. A good amount of residual sweetness on this one. Very drinkable.
3.7I loved it. Tasted great as I sat outside by a fire. This Scotch Style Ale is as tasty as a Porter, but has a nice bite to make you feel like a man who knows when there’s a cold wind a blowin’ in all the wrong places.
3.8Sampled at Springslicker’s Fish Fry ’09. Dark brown pour with fair dark tan head. Creamy milk chocolate aroma. Toasty, a little bready, lots of caramel. Very nice. Cool name. I really enjoyed this for style. Great job of hiding the alcohol.
3.4SpringsLicker’s Fish Fry. Sample from a bottle thanks to decaturstevo. Dark brown-red with an off white head. Big caramel aroma, some cherry and pit fruits. Taste is caramel, light smoky malt, some fruits.
3.7A dark brown almost black pour. Roasted malt aroma and light coffee. Black coffee and sweet caramel malt come together well on this beer. Creamy carbonation and a medium mouthfeel a pretty solid beer.
3.2red to brown pour with a huge light brown head. aroma of dark roasted malts. warming taste of very dark roasted amoust burnt malts. short bitter finish
4.1[Bottle] that was a bonus I think from JCB. Pours a deep brown, nearly black with a surprisingly large tan head of small, creamy bubbles that lingers nicely. Aroma initially is a bit vegetal, but I let it warm and it quickly dissipates, leaving behind lots of fruity esters, some sweet malts, and a hint of peated malt. Flavor is significantly more smoky than the nose would suggest, with a great fruitiness that really complements the beer fantastically. The mouthfeel is rich and smooth, and the finish leaves a hint of smokiness and a touch of bittersweet chocolate. This is an extremely well done beer.
3.6Black - very, very black. Nice smooth coffee and molassess aroma. Flavor is very rich, with coffee and mollasss again, plus earthy, smokey notes. Sampled at Springslicker’s Fish Fry.
3.2Poured brown with a white head. Aroma of candy and fruit. Sweet caramel flavor. Sweet but not over the top sweet.
2.9light smoke/sweetness , light tar, burnt caramel notes ... balanced like a bowling ball on a knife in a bag at the bottom of the ocean in concrete .. abv is slightly apparent .. "s’more schnapps" ... pretty tasty stuff, but lacks the smoke level and fullness of most scotches...
2.9Bottle shared by a local, thanks dude. Poured a deep, murky caramel-brown color with a thin beige head that faded to a ring. Bland aroma that only presents hints of caramel malt, a hint of smoke, and some light peat. Smooth, lightly sweet entry with some light caramel and a soft undertone of peat paired with some smoke that transitions into a light dry finish. Low carbonation and decent on the palate. Surprised at the high average for this beer, because it seemed a bit lackluster in most elements. Perhaps that could be chalked up to a bad bottle, but something seemed off.
2.8This ale pours with a very dark brown, almost burgundy color. The head appears well above the beverage, a very light tan. Flavor is very simplistic, lightly sour, smoky. Very basic example. No malt depth.
3.822 oz bottle. Poured darker than I was expecting for a Scotch Ale, but I’m not disappointed because I like ’em darker. Cream colored head that hangs around a while. Nice smooth and semi-sweet flavor, smooth carmel and fruitiness. Very nice.
3.9Nice aroma, fruity, malty, bread like, caramel, some cocoa. Color like Coca Cola, brown, with red tint, slightly translucent. Decent tan head. Taste is fruity up front, caramel, malts, toasted malt in particular. Very nice. The finish is low on hops, but has a nice warming alcohol effect. Good medium thick mouthfeel. This is the only time the alcohol comes out of hiding in this beer. Very nicely crafted, a good example of the style.
3.3Bottle thanks to Cletus. Pours a amber brown in color, small tan head. Aromas of grape, cranberry, and other fruit notes. Flavors are fruity, toasted malts, brown sugar, and some vanilla.

3.8Bottle. Pours a dark brown cola body with 3 finger tan head. Sweet dark malt, peat, caramel, and light scotch. Toasted malt, light woodiness with a roasty malt and a dry finish. A light alcohol warming.

2.9Brewed in the USA, Courtesy of the Devonshire Knights !! Pours a brown / amber color with a small lasting tan head. Aroma of sweet brown sugar and caramel. Taste is very very sweet with a warm bread / caramel flavor. Not bad, and the 9% is pretty well hiddden.
3.222oz bottle shared with BeerGestapo and The_Captain. Dark brown, some garnet around the edges, with a foamy tan head. Smells of caramel, smoke, earthy. Taste is earthy and bready, brown sugar, some smoke. Syrupy body, a bit too sweet and thick to really enjoy.
3.6Hazy chestnut colour with a tan head. vague roasted, caramel sweet aroma with fruity and hoppy notes and hints of vanilla. Roasted and caramel sweet flavor with dark fruity notes.
3.3Bottle. Pours dark brown with a decent sized tan colored head. Aroma is peat, caramel, malt. Flavor is peaty, caramel, alcohol, rye, light chocolate. Palate is medium bodied, medium carbonation, finished on the dry side, and slightly smokey. Decent.
3.2Nicely malted strong ale. This one held its alcohol too well. Too well as in a high gravily beer, in my opinion, should show its roots and not rely too heavily on one aspect, here sweet malty bombs blowing up all over. Consider this a malt version of a heavyhanded DIPA.
3.7Deep mohogany color, decent head, but quickly dissipating. Peaty caramel sweetness to smell along with a minty almost menthol-y aroma. Rounded and balanced body with a smokey earthy quality matched by a lightening vanilla/honey flvaor and a slight piney hop echo. Not bad.
4.5Perfect dark colour. Weak head. Vanilla woody malt flavourfollowed by a moment of slight bitterness. Then a sweet adtertaste.
3.722oz bottle: Deep caramel colored pour with a thin head that doesn’t stand up. Caramelized sugars are the forefront aroma in the nose, followed by a list of malty goodness. Baker’s chocolate, bourbony raisins, nuts, toasted breads, sweet cookie, peatiness, and on. The nose really mirrors the body, which is just as malty and complex. There is a subtle bitterness that keeps the beer under wraps. Nice cocoa and sweet chocolate finish.
2.7(22oz bottle) Clear mahogany body topped by creamy tan head. Aroma is medium sweet, fruity/berry, caramel, some chocolate, light peat. Taste is medium sweet, chocolate, dark fruit, some caramel, light peat. Watery light-medium body, alcohol well hidden.
