3.5Bottle. Pours an average cheddar orange with a nose of faint rose, grapefruit, and strawberry. Flavor is bready grapefruit, orange rind, light pine biscuit, and a hint of tangerine. Thick mouthfeel. Not bad.
3.8Pours a clear, very dark amber with a large light tan head that lasts for a while. Aromas of caramel and bitter hops dominate the nose. Taste follows suit - bitter, hoppy, but most important is the extra dry finish. I fucking love beers that finish really dry. Compare this to palate wrecker which is a sticky syrupy sweet finish which I loathe. This is a very solid beer. I say this because it has an assertive - yet not overly agressive - hop bitterness that is balanced by a dry, biscuity maltiness. Very nice. This is a very refreshing oasis in a sea of overly sweet DIPA’s.
3.0Been a while since I had this, seemed to be shied away from this for a long time. Better than I remembered. A bit bitter on the finish, pine, some sweet malt but still a slight odd yeast character for me.
3.1Rubescent and brassy body with an extra poofy and foamy caramel head. Zesty, earthy, mildly floral nose with some soapy esters mixed with sweet caramel. Fruity and luscious, viscous body. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel punctuated by candi sugar. A tad cough syrupy on the aftertaste.
3.3Pours a brownish color. Taste is pretty hoppy but not too great. Drank while cleaning the car!
3.4Moderate malt and hop aroma. Hazy brown and red color with a medium tan head. Sweet beginning with a dry bitter finish.
3.4On tap in Cole’s Buffalo. Poured clear and dark with thick white head, pine hop aroma. Tastes hoppy with a bit of a nuttty taste also.
3.4Bottle shared by Matt - another terrible label design by Middle Ages tricked me into expecting the worst. I guess I was pleasantly surprised. Nose is soapy and pine hops. Huge caramel toffee. Raisins. Very dry, pine resins but not that bitter. Touch oxidation. Burnt sugar. Not bad.
2.9Pours a ruby color color with a huge tan head...nice lacing and retention. Smells like turkey hill raspberry iced tea. Tastes much the same with a hint of caramel malt. Finish is like unsweetened tea. This is a horrendous beer.
3.7Bomber from Half Time. Pours dark ruddy amber with a 3 finger foamy beige head. Aroma of roast caramel. Flavor is floral/fruit with caramel and then some arguably citrus rind bitter. It’s not NW bitter, but the hops are all over the malt. It’s a pretty good drink.
3.7On tap at the Chapter House in Ithaca last weekend.
Pours a tawny color with a single-finger tan head and a good bit of lacing as it goes down. Thin collar throughout. The nose carries a good amount of brown sugar plus a nice bit of citrus. Smelling this, I thought this was an ESB. Maybe so, just a very strong one. Probably more properly classified as an English Strong Ale. Flavor brings a slight bit of diacetyl and some malty sweetness. Moderate fruitiness. The hops really don’t come through until the finish, which is fairly bitter. Classic ESB-type profile. Really well done.

3.4Bottle from New Beer Distributors, NY
Beautiful dark mahogany color; generous creamy head; sticky lace. The aroma is perfumy, with caramel, creamy, not much hoppy, maybe soapy, a noble touch of yeast. Medium body strength; dark caramel flavor, spicy (pepper); reasonable bitterness, a bit dusty and with a very light soap impression. Quite strong final bitterness. No hop qualities. Unimpressive, somehow boring.
4.0Presentation: It was poured from a brown 1pt. 6oz bottle into a tulip glass. The label lists the abv at 8%. There is no freshness date.
Appearance: The body has a deep coppery amber color with a light haze. Its head rose up tall, thick and clingy. It had a light tan color and great retention. This all made for nice sticky lacing on the glass.
Smell: There is a bold mix of floral/citrusy hops and sweet malt with a hint of butterscotch and dark fruit.
Taste/Palate: It has a firm foundation of sweet fruity, bready and caramel maltiness with a slight touch of butterscotch. Blending into this is a firm backing of pungent floral citrus and earthy hop bitterness. It finishes with a sticky hop bitterness clinging to the palate. It feels firm and full bodied with just enough carbonation to keep it moving easily over the tongue.
Notes: This is definitely a well made and very enjoyable beer.
3.7Bottle split with Stephanie. Malty, sweet hops, brown sugar. Looks dark fig brown... With off white head. Better than I expected.
3.6Clear brown pour creamy and receding off white head ... aroma of roasted and sweet malts and some citrusy hops ... taste is of bitter hops and sweet malts roasted and toffee with a bitter citrus/light pine hop punch that flows into the finish ... lots of flavor and tasty good mix of english brown ale and dbl ipa abv hidden pretty well
3.9Pours a dark ruby with a slightly off-white head. Aroma is intensely malty with hops stinging the nose. Taste is a bold malted up front with a ’screaming’ amount of hops that follow. Lots of bitterness in the aftertaste but overall a very good beer.
3.7Great pic on the bottle, very interesting. The desc. says Imperial IPA, it is not, the desc. reads strong ale, which seems more accurate. Smells almost like a bourbon aged rye ale I had recently and didn’t like. Hopefully the taste is better, nice doughy foam topping. My first beer from this brewery.
Hoppy, bitter from start to finish, less aromatic and more up front, complex taste, has a fruity almost tangy taste to it, very interesting, I do like it, definitely one bomber will do you in, a "big" beer, very rich but very good. Alcohol can’t be tasted too much. Can really taste the roasted malt.
All in all strong to very strong. I’d like to try another beer from them.
3.9Nice amber color with a white head. Aroma of spruce and citrus hops and caramel and cereal malt. Smooth balanced taste. The medium sweetness hits you right in the front of the mount and the medium sprucy bitterness hits you after. Finish is a lasting bitterness.
3.2Date: 11/26/2010 Source:Other 22 oz bottle. Spicy floral hop nose with moderate caramel. Clear amber brown with fluffy tan head that persists. Caramel flavor with some slight minerally notes. Slightly nutty with floral spicy hop flavor. Medium to light body. Finish is clean and moderately bitter.
3.5Tasted from a bomber bottle obtained in a trade. Pours clear but dark amber with an average white head that leaves uneven lace. The nose is maple, molasses, dark caramel malt, and some resin and bitter hops. On the negative side, there is a pretty strong alcohol aroma as well. The flavor is burnt brown sugar with maple, caramel malt, and a nice bit of hops bitterness. The alcohol is actually very well masked on the palate compared to how strong the smell was. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long bitter hops and burnt brown sugar finish.
3.6Growler. Not really a DIPA but a nice American Strong Ale. Lots of caramel and spicier malt notes. Hops are pine resin with a little bit of grapefruit pith. Body was a little thin for the relatively sharp flavors but that was probably emphasized by coming from a growler that had to make a cross-country trek.
3.4Sweet and sharp malty aroma with hops describes this brew. The. Color is amber dark cherry with a nice lacey head on top. The flavor is potent and tastes very hoppy, malty, and boozy. It is medium bodied and not too smooth until the temperature goes up.
3.4Draught @ Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Syracuse, NY: Deep amber brown pour, no head and no aroma to be found. All is well in the taste - a sharp and spicy, very hoppy, toffee, boozy lovefest! Even found a bit of a cherry note, nice! She’s a hop bomb and I love her face.
3.6poured from a 22 oz bottle. color is bright amber. nose up front is malty with a touch of hops. Also noticeable scents of caramel and various sugars. The taste follows with a strong malty taste followed by a hop twist. Decent with the alcohol. very good.
4.0Dark orange color. Thick, fluffy head. Hazzy but pretty spartan. Nice thick lace.
Heavy grapefruity hop smell. Bitter and so inviting. Very bitter smell.
Seriously bitter, hoppy grapefruit flavor. Sweetly bitter aftertaste. Very delicious. English yeast adds the perfect depth and a bready base. Yeast/hop balance works; very little malt presence.
Really sits on the tongue. Semi-thick feel, but not chewy or chunky. A tiny bit fizzy.
Great drink. Hoppy but surprisingly smooth; bitter but kind of sweet. Gotta love this Wench.
3.1Dark amber pour. Citrus apple nose. Taste has some initial bitterness and then a very dry finish.
3.9Wonderful color, medium carbonation, head is a bit thin, but not a problem for me. smells very nice, a hint of fruit on the nose, mouth feel is crisp, even refreshing. All together a very passable beer, however at $6.00 for the 22oz, there are better beers for the money. I did enjoy!
3.522 oz. bottle shared at Parish Cafe in Boston. Pours a cloudy red-amber with a finger-thick off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts, pine resin, hops, earthy notes, and dried fruits. Flavor of caramel malts, resinous hops, dried fruits, earth, and honey. Bitter and sweet. Not the hop bomb I was expecting because it’s got so much caramel sweetness and maltiness to it. Medium-bodied, with a chewy mouthfeel and average carbonation. I can’t get over the label; I guess it’s a hot redhead trying to be sexy, but she’s making a face that says, "I’m having lewd things done to me and getting paid for it." It also has the quality of an image from the old Wolfenstein.
3.4Sampled at Central New York Brewfest, Syracuse NY. 06FE10.
App.: Clear copper with an off-white, yellow-greenish head.
Aroma: Lots of fruity esters, pine and earthy hops, chocolate, wood, caramel, brown sugar, toffee.
Palate: Medium body, medium carbonation.
Flav.: Lots of pine hops, some grapefruit, still estery, chocolate, vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, fruity; lightly sweet with nice bitterness and an estery finish.
That’ll do, wench. That’ll do.
3.322 ounce bottle courtesy of j12601. Thanks! Pours a deep reddish bronze color with a medium head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of toffee and leafy, resiny, faintly citrus hop notes. Taste is bitter, citrus hops with faint malty notes and a little bit of butter. Medium bodied with a strong, lingering bitterness.
