Midnight Sun Berserker

Midnight Sun Berserker

Vicious and viscous, this menacing brew pours opaque black with a creamy maduro-colored head. Its aroma offers seductive whiskey, chewy red wine, dark fruit and lavish tobacco. Berserker Imperial Stout invades your taste buds with in-your-face flavor. Weighing in at almost 13% alcohol by volume, Berserker is completely out-of-control. Give it a good fight.

4.1 650ml bottle from Elizabeth Station shared with George. Pours a damn oily almost black with a dark beige head. Aroma is huge maple syrup, bourbon, molasses, very sweet. Similar taste with some burnt sugar notes. Fairly good, but a bit oversweet for me.
3.4 Imperial Stout z dodatkiem syropu klonowego i melasy. Leżakowany w dębowych beczkach po bourbonie. Alkohol: 12,7% obj. IBU: 30 Butelka: 650 ml Kolor: Czarny. Brak przejrzystości. Piana: Nic szczególnego. Pare centymetrów drobnego, beżowego puchu. Umiarkowane zdobienia i krótka otoczka nad piwem. Zapach: Ładny, chociaż mało intensywny aromat beczki po bourbonie. Nieco z tyłu odrobina ciemnego chleba pumpernikiel. Całkiem sporo nut czekolady, sproszkowanego kakao i melasy. W kolejnych niuchach pokazują się ciemne owoce. Dominują śliwki i wiśnie. Sporo nut melasy, kakao i ciemnego chleba. Trochę to wszystko rozklekotane, mało spójne. Wysycenie: Niskie. Podsumowanie: Moje pierwsze piwo z Browaru Midnight Sun z Anchorage z Alaski. Zawsze było moim marzeniem odwiedzić kiedyś to miasto. Cudownie położone u podnórza gór Chugach. Niedaleko piękne jeziora, wulkany. Fantastyczna przyroda. Istna bajka! W smaku brak.
4.1 June 2014 bottle. Pours like oil with a tan ring. Aroma has big, smooth notes of whisky, maple, chocolate, slight roast. Taste is sweet but not cloying with whisky, barrel spice, chocolate, dark fruits, maple, then coffee at the end before a drawn out, whisky  conclusion. No real alcohol burn. Full body with a low-medium carbonation. Oily in the mouth with  a dry finish. Overall big, round, oily, and full of flavour. Aged just about right.
3.4 Fajny aromat wanilii, syropu klonowego, likieru wiśniowego, kawy, czekolady, marcepanu, bardzo, bardzo. I szok w smaku - wszystko na maxa wypłaszczone z aromatu, słabo, dominują słody palone, kawa, karmel, takie nijakie, z niezle ukrytym alkoholem. Aromat zapowiadał świetne piwerko, w smaku zostały jakies resztki.
3.5 Bomber - nice dark pour with a thin tan head. Maple syrup aroma and taste. Light bourbon. Thinner body that I had imagined but still good.
4.7 Absolutely delicious, this is aptly described as both vicious and viscous. Best sipped, this beer is thick but flavorful, chocolate, a hint of anise maybe. Really outstanding beer.
3.9 Shared bomber poured to snifters, displaying a black/brown hue, with dark, brownish tan head froth, and foamy spots of lacing. The nose was roasted & cocoa, followed by a plethora of notes that add to the complexity as toffee, dark caramel, maple, treacle, dark fruit, and some port/vinous character. Ditto on the flavor, full bodied, with soft carbonation, roasted, earthy, and slightly tannic bitterness, amped, boozy warmth, and a very dry finish. Hearty Quad/Imperial Stout.
3.9 Bottle. Opaque black liquid with small tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, raw sugar, tomatoes, raisins and dried fruit. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with notes of raw sugar, booze, oak and dried fruit. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with notes of raw sugar, booze and tomatoes. Full bodied with low to medium carbonation. Nice!
3.8 Type: 22-oz. bottle Glass: AleSmith Barrel-Aged Reserve snifter From: Bine & Vine Bottle Shop in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif. Price: $19.99 Purchased: Jan. 6, 2017 Consumed: Jan. 20, 2017 Reviewed as: American Double / Imperial Stout Misc.: Bottled on Oct. 24, 2016 Picked this up with basically a $50 gift certificate for my birthday. Had heard of Midnight Sun and saw on one of the emails that they had a few coming in, so I pounced on this and the Arctic Devil Barley Wine. $19.99 (Berserker) and $17.99 (AD) seems a bit much but I got the anyway. Show me I’m wrong. Poured a pitch black color with 1-to-2 fingers of frothy tan head. Calm, serene setting underneath the top. Average lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 3.75) Smelled a big boozy mix of bourbon and maple syrup. Also some chewy molasses in there, probably making it seem boozier than it is. Getting that molasses after the bourbon and maple syrup, but that bourbon kind of dies off. Also earthy leather, port red wine barrels, dates, vanilla, toasted oak, hints of coconut and dark caramel. Not as good as I thought it would be, but still appetizing. (Smell - 4.00) Initial taste had me thinking it wasn’t quite an imperial stout, but then it smoothed out and I felt it warm all the way down my body. A lot of different flavors pulling at each other, getting in order smoky molasses, port wine, oaky bourbon, vanilla, earthy leather and tobacco. Getting less maple syrup than the nose and more port wine. Either way it’s sugary sweet. Also dates, figs, raisins, overripe plum, dark caramel, toffee and toasted coconut. Really feeling the alcohol, warming up the body rather quickly. This is complex. (Taste - 4.25) Full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, semi-smoky, warming finish. (Feel - 4.25) This was a different imperial stout for sure. Liked it overall, but I feel like I overrated it just a bid. (Overall - 4.25) 4.16 93 A-
4.4 Finally! 22oz. Bottles, several bottles VINTAGE 2015 & 2016; pours oily black with creamy brown head. Aroma: roasted grain, dark malt with notes of cacao & coffee nibs, dark chocolate, tobacco, maple syrup, vanillin, sherry-like note, some dark fruits esters... Flavor is similar: intense malt , roasted grain flavors, maple syrup, tobacco, vanillin, sherry-like whisky, dark fruit esters...finish is dry, body is full, texture creamy, carbo is low. 12.7% is perfectly hidden!
4.5 Bomber, 2016 vintage, thanks Craig! Sweet dark fruit aroma with lovely notes of bourbon, tobacco, vanilla, maple and a bit of roasted malt and chocolate. Pours inky black with a thin caramel brown head that has poor retention but a little bit of lace. Starts with sweet dark fruit and maple syrup flavors with a bit of tobacco and roasted malt as well as rich, full body and slick, viscous mouthfeel. Finishes impeccably smooth wonderful bourbon, vanilla, oak and light chocolate as well. Some warming booze is present, but feels like a warm hug. Absolutely fantastic!
4.0 22oz bottle have had many times. Pours out black topped with a small tan head. Nose is roast malts some whiskey barrel notes vanilla spice pit fruit chocolate and some ash. Taste is more of the nice bourbon barrel vanilla some booze and chocolate.
3.9 Bottle share. Dull pour, flat and oily, small ring of brown head. Aroma.a is harsh and wooden. Taste smoothes out a little, Dirty, earthy, peaty, a bit of alcohol warmth, bitter at the tail. Salvages itself after a questionable start.Vintage pour, definitely gets better with she. Smooth, sweet and boozy
4.5 Pitch black, fully opaque coloured body with an oily head and a very thin, half centimetre tall rich brown head. Aroma of rich roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, earth, raisins, prunes, molasses, maple, licorice and alcohol - very strong and rich, just in the aroma! Full-bodied; Super rich malty flavour with alcohol, maple, licorice, chocolate, coffee, earth, toffee caramel and a lot of complexity from pit fruits and sugars with a lot of bourbon and oaky notes noticeable. Aftertaste is insanely rich and flavourful with some strong complexities, but a relatively easy to drink and well hidden alcohol beer for the style, if that is possible at all for a double-digit beer. Overall, definitely worth sampling if you can find it, I’m glad I kept mine around for a while - it surely helped round out the edges by having it age a bit. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Portland (Pearl), Oregon on 04-May-2015 for US$15,99 sampled at home in Washington on Christmas Day, 25-December-2016.
3.9 A very good desserty stout. Pours a super thick black with a red-brown head. Smells of bourbon and maple syrup. Taste is like a dessert, with vanilla ice cream up front, followed by bourbon, and then a heap of maple syrup and molasses in the finish. Had in the bottle.
3.6 22 oz bottle poured, to celebrate Bengals 2016 touchdown #3. 1 year of age on this bottle. Gio. Pours midnight black with no head to speak of. Huge Bourbon aroma with a maple constant. Flavor is a rich chocolate, strong oak, maple, and potent bourbon. Has a slight doughy element. Slightly smokey. Overall a fun imperial, but not too memorable.
4.1 Bottle from City Hops. Poured thick black with min dark brown head. Aroma light boozy dark fruit dark char roast vanilla. Min carb thick bod. Taste bittersweet good roast. Knew it scored well but actually lives up to it
3.9 Aromas of dark chocolate, toffee, raisins, plums, figs, dark fruits, cherries, aged malts, oak, and barrel wood. Pours black with a very thin foam and intense alcohol legs. Taste brings harsh charred malts, campfire ash, dark bitter chocolate, cacao nibs, aged dark malts, oak, maple syrup, slick malt syrup, slick molasses, caramel, nougat and leather. Finishes intensely boozy with massive bourbon and oak. Overall, a very complex and dark with tons of flavors. Very heavy on the booze.

4.2 Bomber. One of the darkest densest pours I’ve ever seen. Molasses, ash, slight booze, maple syrup, hint of wood. Awesome.
4.3 August 17, 2016. Bottle, received in a trade, thanks! Black with a small brown head. Aroma is sweet, malty and roasted with licorice, ash, dark chocolate, vanilla, wood, bourbon, some maple. Taste is sweet, malty, bitter and roasted. Finish is sweet molasses, some caramel, licorice, bourbon, hints of vanilla, bitter roastiness, some dark chocolate and ash. Medium to full bodied, soft carbonation. Very nice, balanced sweetness with smooth roastiness.

4.2 Bottle at home. Black body with a medium brown head. Roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, oak, whiskey notes, maple syrup, bourbon. Smooth and slick. Oily texture. Great.
3.4 Smells of malted milk balls (Whoppers) and slightly of sour milk. Tastes like it smells. Mouthfeel is thin to oily with a medium body. Maybe this bottle went bad or was somehow infected, because I’d heard praise of this beer that does not comport with my experience.
3.8 Draught at Harry’s Hofbrau in San Jose. Jet black with full brown head that is billowy and sustained. Aromas and flavor of fruit, chocolate and peat.
4.0 This is really good but it’s not blowing me away. Very rich and powerful. Yet smooth and drinkable.
4.2 2016 bottle split with the wife and my bruh. Pours the part. Solid bourbon barell oresence in the form of smoke, vanilla, oak. Some chcoloate and roasted malts. Big full burly body, slight booze burn.
