Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel

Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch Weasel

Formerly brewed by Mikkeller at Nøgne Ø, Norway, now at Lervig, Norway.

This imperial Oatmeal stout is brewed with one of the world’s most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civetcats. The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries.Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for Civet or Weasel Coffee. The exceedingly rare
Civet Coffee has a strong taste and an even stronger aroma.

Ingredients :
Water, malts, hops, yeast and Vietnamese ca phe chon coffee.

4.0 Svart farge med beige skum som forsvinner. Lukter kaffe, mørke stenfrukter. Fyldig.
4.4 0,33l bottle. Pours jet black with tan head. Huge aroma of coffee, roasty, chocolate, cocoa powder, coffee powder, vanilla. Taste is massive coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, cocoa. Full bodied. Great stuff.
3.0 Probably wouldn't have gotten this if I had known about the frequent abuse of civets in the production of the coffee. Pours a flat black with no head from a bottle. Big coffee, licorice, earth aroma and flavor, somewhat sweet, round mouthfeel due to the oats. Good beer, but nothing to write home about.
4.6 Intense aroma of sweet dark chocolate and liqourice. Smooth and extremely full bodied. The is bitter, roasted malt, dark bitter chocolate, sweet notes, cocoa, faint cofee notes.
4.1 330 ml bottle at home, bb. 13.5.2026. Pours a very dark red-brown with hardly any tan colored head. The aroma is a nice melange of coffee and roasted malt - cocoa, chocolate, some burnt wood, nuts, fudge - nice smell. Full body with a soft to average carbonation, a medium sweetness and a light to medium bitterness. The flavor starts with sweet roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, nuts, vanilla, dark fruits and fudge along with notes of coffee, which are less present compared to the smell. Finishes with a pleasant and lasting roasty bitterness, coffee and some burnt notes. Overall very balanced with well integrated notes of coffee. Pretty good albeit not outstanding - I preferred the smell over the flavor. Aroma: 4 Appearance: 4 Taste: 8 Palate: 4 Overall: 17
4.3 Blik.
Alkoholen lurar i bakgrunden men hålls ändå fint tillbaka i smakbilden.
4.0 Can from web SB cons 2018-07-07 Göteborg AR: roasted malt, dark chocolate, bitter coffee with thiny dash of milk AP: black body, wee dark brown lid F: dark bitter chocolate, coffey with sweet milk, warming feeling,
3.9 1 finger dark beige head, dissipates really quickly. Pitch black beer. Aroma is toffee, delicious gourmet coffee, slight manure, vanilla bean, oats and a hint of hard red berries. Taste is caramel sauce, dark roast coffee, vanilla, leather, slight tobacco and a milk chocolate sweetness at the end. Mouthfeel is semi-thick and velvety smooth. Oily and sticky. Very balanced. Low bitterness. Low carbonation. Could definitely use a more bigger punch. Overall: A very good Impy by Mikkeller. Only problem I have with this beer is the lack of attitude but it's really pleasant to drink. ABV is a no-show. Great stuff.
4.1 Pours thick black with nearly no head. Aroma is coffee, molasses and roast. Taste is chocolate and molasses, warming to powerful, rich coffee and some earthy roast. Finish continues to carry powerful coffee. This is the coffee lovers' ideal stout.
3.9 Good coffee notes, roasted malts and some cocoa notes, black with a good brown head, full body, average carbonation, quite strong, touch of chocolate with a bit of grass and more coffee on the end, quite bitter...quite good.
4.5 330ml can from Systembolaget. Pitch black with a dense beige head that disappears quite fast, some lacing. Wonderful coffee and vanilla aroma, great roast and smooth oats. Silky mouthfeel, close to full bodied, soft carbonation. Taste follows the aroma, perfect coffee roast, sweet vanilla, smooth oats, cocoa nibs, hints of berries and a long roasted bitter finish with a lingering warming sensation. Great stuff!
4.1 Piana obfita o drobnych i średnich oczkach, opada powoli zdobiąc szkło. Kolor czarny. Aromat kawa czekolada, praliny, owocowe akcenty, przyjemny. Smak wyraźna kawa, słodycz owocowa, karmel, czekolada, praliny wiśnie w czekoladzie, lekki popiół. Piwo pełne, słodkie, likierowe z wyraźnie zaznaczoną goryczką. Całość gra bardzo przyjemnie się pije. Bardzo Dobre
3.8 Pours black with a tan head. Coffee aroma, mild ashy roast, light sweet aroma. Taste has very nice coffee actually, some sweetness, licorice and dark chocolate. Mild bitter finish. Creamy texture. Haven’t had this in a ling time but man was this a pleasant revisit.
4.3 Thick, black colored, medium creamy tan head, nice lacing. Aroma is of roasted malt, bit caramel, toffee, milky and dark chocolate, lots of coffee and beans, bit vanilla, some dark fruit notes. Taste is quite sweet roasted malt with some caramel, bit brown sugar, dark chocolate, strong coffee and coffee beans, some vanilla, bit alcohol and warmth but well hidden, medium roasted coffee bitterness, dryish coffee finish and aftertaste. Full bodied, soft carbonation, creamy.
4.1 Can @ Warwick University Real Ale Festival, Feb 2018. No tasting notes as I was already very drunk by the time I listed the scores.
4.4 Fra flaske med voks. Købt i Beer Lovers Wien.
3.9 33cl in mikkeller short pint glass. Pours a minimal to small full dark brown head, pitch black. Smells high quality and very smooth south american/jamaican/vietnamese home made moka coffee, caramel malts, meringue, "nera paesana" chocolate cake, very nice dried fruits/raisins/dark berries at the end. Tastes deep roasted sweet malts, dark chocolate, hints of vanilla, wooden cocoa powder/beans. Medium plus very rounded sweetness, and medium roasted beans bitterness: everything lies in between the bitter sweet balance, and coffee character is smoothen out perfectly by the sweet choco side. "Serve at 10-12", I would say the warmer the better by no means, even more than you would normally do with other high abv / stouts. Full bodied, viscous, light steecky low but always perceivable carbonation. The hi quality coffee gives out all is balance and smoothness to this tasty imp stout. Sort of a balanced version of the more wildly popular "vanilla shake", very nice but expected a bit more.
4.2 Used to be one of my favorite coffee imperial stouts. Just a damn good iteration of what it is. Coffee, thick, rich, viscous and damn tasty.
5.0 Earlier Rating: 3/25/2018 Total Score: 5
4.0 Pours oily black with a thin, brown head and some lacing. The aroma is coffee, espresso, cocoa, dark chocolate, milk chocolate. The taste is coffee, dark chocolate, pralines, some vanilla, roasted malts. Smooth, rather full-bodied, long roasted finish, some alcohol warmth. Very coffee-forward as expected, good.
3.8 Can (3-Mar-18) Spirit choc aroma. Black, low head and suds lacing. Sweet choc coffee herbal flavour. Bitter choc coffee finish and spirit herbal chocolate aftertaste.
4.0 Bottle 33 cl. Black with a light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, oatmeal and some licorice. Sweet with a warm chocolate and some sense of oatmeal end. Geek
4.0 Long black, pours like tar. So smooth. Love just the one! Malt bread.
4.4 Pours smooth and silky, jet black with a thin light brown head. Coffee, hazelnut, dark chocolate on the nose. Slightly sweet tasting, caramel, espresso, vanilla, maybe even a cigar. What more could you want?
