4.0 Really solid thick oily full stout, not too pastry-like, just the right amount of sweetness. Full bodied, roast to balance it all with the right amount of hop bitterness. 2019 mikkeller beer advent cal
4.1 Coffee, oatmeal, chocolate, dark brown head, chocolate, cocoa, some vanilla in taste, thick, full, smooth
4.0 Bottle @ home. Black w a brown head. Aoma heavy malty (caramel, roasted, cocoa, vanilla, coffee, licorice). Flavor medium sweet, vanilla, licorice, dark fruit, brown sugar, milk sugar, bitter of dark chocolate, some alcohol felt. Almost full body, quite flat.
3.9 Can at home. Black body with a medium brown head. Chocolate, vanilla, oats, maple syrup, milk chocolate. Sweet but good.
3.1 Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 30A/16B). Can 33 cl - Batch 29071910 (BBF 29/07/22). AROMA: initial low metallic note, followed by medium-high cocoa and vanilla. faint nuttiness that vanishes. overall sweet aroma. APPEARANCE: very dark brown to black color and opaque. medium brown head, creamy, with average retention. lace formation. TASTE: medium-high chocolate, vanilla , slight nuttiness and peppery alcohol. very faint roasted malt with coffee-like notes. low bitterness with a sweet finish that evolves into a less sweet palate. unbalanced. PALATE: full body with medium-low carbonation. OVERALL: liquid chocolate in a can and thats it.
3.9 From tap at Beerdome, Basel. Aroma of sweet raosted malt, nuts, cookies, sweet chocolate, artificial vanilla, brown sugar and molasses. Medium-full body with a medium to medium-heavy sweetness and a light roasty bitterness. The flavor starts with sweet and lightly roasted malt, brown sugar, caramel, molasses and nuts followed by slightly more roasted notes, of lightly burnt wood and darker chocolate. Finishes with residual sweetness, lots of nuts, vanilla and a very light roasty bitterness. Overall sweet like cookies but never cloying with nice notes of roasted malt in behind. Borderline sweet but still in balance. Aroma: 8 Appearance: 4 Taste: 8 Palate: 4 Overall: 15
4.3 Brilliant beer! No nose, very little carbonation. Full body mouth with cocoa, coffee, strong haselnut and hints of dried figs. Grand lingering aftertaste sweet dried figs and haselnut and dark chocolate. Perfect balance of acidity and mild sweetness. Dangerously easy drinking.
3.9 Pitch black pour with decent head. Sweet, lactose nose. Tones of cacao, chocolate, nuts and vanilla. Heavy pastry stout
4.1 On tap @Mikkeller Warsaw. Coffee bean/black pour with a light brownish foam. Nose: coffe-chocolate, hazelnut cream, dark roast coffee beans. Beautiful. Mouth: finally a non articola pastry Stout, hazelnut skin, fresh nuts, dark chocolate, mild sugar overall with a slight bitter coffee finish. A great brew.
3.9 [Tasting - Beder] Aroma: Lightly sweet, cocoa, vanilla, roasted malts and a hint coffee Appearance: Pitch black with a brown medium lasting head Taste: Moderate sweet and bitterness, roasted malts and dominating chocolate Mouthfeel: Oily mouthfeel with soft-no carbonation Overall: Nice dessert stout :)
4.2 Aromat intensywny, bardzo słodki, kakao, wanilia, czekolada, pralinki, delikatnie kawa w tle. W smaku mleczna czekolada, wanilia, kakao delikatnie kawa. Świetny pastry stout, dla mnie na granicy bycia za słodkim, brakuje mi tu trochę kontry. Jednak raczej taki był tu cel i trzeba przyznać że piwo robi wrażenie.
4.1 Bottle at home. Three year old. Has a dark brown to black colour with a light brown head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate truffles, salami, oak, liqueur, vanilla and nougat. Roasted flavour with ash, oak, coffee, roasted malt, caramel, dark chocolate and vanilla. Has a silky mouth feel, full-bodied and a light to medium bitterness. Rich, roasted and tasteful.
4.0 Pours thick black with one finger, dark tan head. Aroma is cocoa, vanilla, roast and coffee. Taste is rich, dark chocolate and brown sugar, moving to vanilla, roast and espresso. Finish is coffee and vanilla. An exceptional stout.
3.8 Black with a minimal light brown head, Aroma of dark fruit, cocoa and vanilla. Sweet with a good cocoa, oatmeal and vanilla end.
4.1 Drank the day before Valentine’s Day 2019 with Matt. Pours a not-too-thick but opaque reddish brown-black with a thin fizzy beige head and some sediment. Smells of burnt black molasses, biscuity malt and caramel, plenty of spice (almost in a Christmas ale way), dark cocoa, black coffee, herbal, faint hint of soy/umami. Awesome nose. Far less sweet than I expected. Taste is a bit more sharp, dark burnt malts, light hint of smoke/ash, ends on sweetish slightly sharp soy note. Body is medium to thick, moderately sweet but also dark/burnt, barely any carbonation, slick without being syrupy - very smooth. Very good! Not overly sticky. Better than expected, with lots of spice and dark flavours to complement the sweetness.
4.0 Bottle from Brewcraft at home. Thick dark dark brown pour with some tan sedimentation and minimal to no carbonation. Aroma is slightly sweet, but luckily not as much as I feared, rich cocoa, mocha coffee, burnt sugar, some spice, sort of vaguely Christmas-y but subdued, really nice. Taste is a bit sweeter than aroma - big roasted coffee, mocha, slight cinnamon, dark brown sugar, sweet dried fruit. All works very well and not at all treacly. Rich palate but doesn’t veer into syrupy despite minimal carbonation. Very good. Definitely ranks up there with the best of the beer geek series.
3.7 0,3 litre Bottle from Vinmonopolet Lillehammer. Black with brown head. Roasted malts, coffee, vanilla, some sweetness.
3.6 Bottle. Pitch black body with a big, fast disappearing beige head. Aroma has dark malt, coffee, soy and less chocolate than expected – not much at all. Flavor is really sweet, dark malt, quite smooth, roasted coffee, hint of vanilla and balancing bitterness. Full bodied and long lasting aftertaste. Nice, but I still prefer the Brunch.
4.1 33 cl. bottle. A black beer with a small beige head. Aroma and flavour of malt, caramel, chocolate, coffee and with a bitter roasted finish.
4.0 25.12.2018. 0,33l Bottle. Black colour with tan head. Rich with lots of malt. Alcohol. Vanilla and soft whiskey. Strong with burnt notes. Very rich and plessant.
4.4 330ml bottle (with upside down label!) from December 2016 - almost 2 years old now. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of cocoa, coffee, vanilla, caramel, roast malts. Taste is sweet, dark chocolate, vanilla, caramel, sugar, coffee, roast malts, finish is bittersweet. Full body, creamy, soft carbonation. Absolutely delicious beer, a real pleasure to drink.
3.6 Bottle. Aroma is cocoa, vanilla, dark malts, dark fruits, alcohol. Taste is very sweet, alcoholic, burning on the palate, agressive. Lots of ocoa, nuts, dark bread.
4.4 0,33l bottle. Pours jet black with tan head. Aroma of coffee, roast, cocoa powder, vanilla, chocolate. Taste is vanilla, chocolate, coffee, roasty, chocolate milk. Rich creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation.
4.5 (> malto-cereal, > cacao (ad), oat-crémeuse, douceur-cara & bien amer (amplifié-last), fin ~vanille(ad)-µ-nut)
3.9 Black, small brown head. Quite intensive aroma of coffee, chocolate, vanilla beans, cocoa, dark malts. Taste is more intensive. Full od dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla accents. Roasty ending. Bitter is medium leveled. Semi-dry. Low carbonation. Full body. Nice one
4.0 Pours slick black with a fast-fading tan head that leaves a rim and legs. Aroma is chocolate roast malt and vanilla. Taste follows with cocoa and a tangy sweetness. Mildly boozy and a roasty, slightly bitter finish. A bit sticky but smooth. Excellent.
