Mikkeller Better Half

Mikkeller Better Half

Amber IPA with notes of citrus hops and toasted malt. On palate the hops lead off with citrus, herbs, and a bit of earthiness. Malts come in next with notes of caramel and toffee along with some nuttiness. Some earthy spice comes towards the end adding some depth. Finishes with a lingering citrus hop note.

3.4 Smells of honey floral and. Brown sugar. Foggy dark amber in color. Taste of lemongrass super malty with a bitter finish. Med body with frothy carbonation. To malty for what I like in a pale ale but not bad overall.
3.8 Cloudy dark orange or Amber pour with a half inch dense offwhite head. Tropical aroma, papaya and sticky pineapple, very fruit punch-y. Very soft carbonation, thick creamy mouthfeel, finishes slightly dry. Flavor matches the nose with the addition of some resinous hops and caramel malt.
3.3 On can from Kihosk Copenhagen. Golden color, good foam. Medium aroma intensity; hops, caramel, pine, some fruitiness and citrus. Medium body & complexity. Solid bitterness, makes it a bit unbalanced. Enjoyable
3.4 Dark amber, almost clear, good white head and lacing. Good fruit aroma, mostly grapefruit, with a healthy dose of pine. Body is oily with medium carb. Taste has plenty of malt and pithy bitterness. A bit too heavy and sticky to be great.
3.5 Can. Dark golden, hazy, average to large and mostly lasting head. Moderate, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish aroma, some caramel and tropical fruitiness, grapefruit - some citrus hoppyness. Body is medium, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish flavor, some caramel and tropical fruitiness, grapefruit - some piney hoppyness. Finish is average to long, malty and lightly sweetish, light - some caramel and light tropical fruitiness, piney - some grapefruit hoppyness. Well hopped fruity IPA. Could be drier and with less caramel. Nice head.
3.6 can at home from lavery’s offlicence hazy pale full bodied, pithy, mango, brashly bitter, citrus, pine, heavy, slightly meaty, red berries.
2.8 Can at Brewdog. Pours Amber with pure white head. Nose resin and dank hops. Taste is overpowered by hops and nothing really behind it aside from a minor alcohol kick. Rather average hop bomb to be honest and would not recommend.
3.7 Aroma - caramel malt and both pungent and floral hops. Appearance - the body is a hazy mahogany, the head is 2+" and off white. Very tight and settles slowly. Lacing is Taste - caramel malt with slightly pungent, floral, and slightly spiced hops. There is a slight oiliness as well. Palate - body is between light and medium, the texture oily, the carbonation is average, and the finish bitter and lengthy.
4.0 Can. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit and malt aroma. Grapefruit and pine flavor. Medium bodied. Good bitterness.

2.7 bottle at home ... golden amber ... thick tan head ... soft tofee .. sweet malt nose .. soft toffee fruit .. woody malts .. soft toffe
3.6 Cloudy amber color with modest head. Bitter with strong herbal taste. $2.39 for 12 ounce can was reasonable compared to their imported brews.
2.9 Very strong pine and hop aroma, nice dark golden color. Has a very strong hop flavor up front, that quickly opens to a lot of bitterness. Aftertaste has malt and still a decent amount of hops. A tiny bit too bitter.
3.6 Can, Brewdog Leicester. Dark golden red with a fluffy foam. Bready malts with rye and toffee. Tropical fruit with herbal pine and grapefruit bitterness. Good.
3.5 Can 355 ml. Orange with creamy head. Aroma of bread and grapefruit. Sweet caramel flavour with fruity bitterness
3.4 Can pours to glass. Tasted one year ago. Nice and tasty IPA, but pretty standard for mikkeller.
3.6 How : can Appearance : almost clear dark golden with a small off-white head. Aroma : grapefruit, herbs, dark caramel, lime peel, pine and some grass. Palate : medium body, average carbonation.
3.4 0.33 can at Svijet piva (Beer World), Zagreb, Croatia. Hazy dark orange, off white head. Peach, hops. Sweet, fades quickly, but it’s actually delicious. Sweeter finish with some bitterness. Could be more bitter, but it’s a refreshing and light beer.
3.4 12 oz can. Pours a hazy golden orange color that I stopped by a thick, rocky head of off white foam that shows good retention and slowly fades to a thin film. The aroma shows notes of citrus fruit, pine, and earthy hops over a toasted caramel malt base. The flavor follows suit with some citrus fruit with the ready and caramel malts adding their sweetness and followed by floral, and earthy hop bitterness on the back end. Medium bodied with ample carbonation and slightly astringent leading to a bitter sweet finish. This one just didn’t come together for me. Decent IPA overall.
3.9 Can. Bright, hoppy aroma. Average carbonation. Strong hoppy flavors. Bitter finish. Astringent, but very drinkable.
3.5 Can pours amber, off white head. Massive hop fsin and bitterness, medium to full body. Dry finish.
3.6 Can pour at home, light amber pour, some head, lot of hop in the aroma, good bitter hop taste, not overwhelming just right for me, semi smooth finish with pine nots. Good IPA.
3.7 Quite sweet. Caramel, candied citrus, pine and floral hop bitterness. Fairly dry finish with notes of toasted grain and light resin.
3.7 Canned at Gustus, Motala Hazy amber with a large head. Sweet and piney in both aroma and flavour with some tropical Fruits. Medium to high bitterness.
3.7 Can: Pours dark amber with a slight haze. Large, thick head. Sweet-ish aroma of tropical fruits with notes of shampoo. Taste is hops and loads of pine needles and resin. Big and long bitterness.
4.0 12 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no can dating, but was just released into the state. Pours moderately cloudy deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of citrus/piney hops and moderate dark malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, caramel, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Large amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon/orange peel, citrus rind, pine, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/piney hops and moderate dark malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and minimal lingering hop astringency after the finish. Very dry finish from the large amount of bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, sticky/resinous, and lightly creamy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/piney hops and moderate dark malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
3.8 Can poured into a pint: Cloudy pale iced tea brown with about an inch of creamy off-white foam settling into a thin cap. Aroma is big on pine and bread dough. Intense aspirin bitterness and citrus rind with dark honey and bread crust. Full-bodied but just short of syrupy. It finishes semi-sweet.
