4.1 Bottle at Las Buenas Pulgas, served in a balloon glass. Black colour, medium off white head with good retention and a dotty pattern lacing. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, dark fruits, cherries, notes of licorice and nuts. Full body, sticky texture, good carbonation. Sweet finish. Taste follows the aroma. Pretty good.
4.1 375ml bottle from Kill the Cat, Brick Lane. Big black beer. It’s roasty and bitter and really, really complex. Burnt malt, molasses and whisky nose. Smooth, but nicely bitter and burnt and roasty. Really bloody good.

3.7 0,375l bottle at home courtesy of Saeglopur, big thanks. BB 12.11.2024. black color, medium big coffee colored head. smells toffee, bit smoky, earthy, some soy sauce, peppery, nice smell. full body, soft carbonation. tastes earthy, peppery, spices, toffee, bit oxidized, lightly smoky, marzipan, some sweetness, lightly boozy. finishes bit boozy and lightly roasty bitter with notes of toffee, smoky notes and some pepper. pretty good one, acttually expected this to be worse, drinks actually pretty good, rather old schoolish.
3.8 Pours an opaque black from the bottle with bubbly tan brown foam that dissipates slowly to leave good lace. Aroma of deep roast and dark chocolate, with dark fruit, molasses, and earthy soy sauce underneath. Taste is sweet from the malt, hot booze, light roasty bitterness underneath to balance. Not bad, straight up stout, which is rare nowadays.
4.0 Chopp. Pitch black colour with a small creamy steady head. Pleasant intense aroma of roasted malt with chocolate and coffee too along with dark fruits. Good filling palate. Good roasted maltiness in the flavour with chocolate, dark fruits, liqourice bit and coffee, well balanced, notes of alcohol. Good lasting finish og roasted malt chocolate and coffee.
4.4 Bière pression bue au beer square à Lille. A 8 euros les 25 cl, j'espère qu'elle sera bonne, et c'est le cas, comme souvent chez Mikkeller. Du café, torréfié à fond, du chocolat, un pur délice ! (M)
4.0 Bottle. It poured a black color with a tan head. The aroma was of roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. The taste was similar to the aroma with more roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, black liquorice, brown sugar with medium carbonation and a nice chewy aftertaste. Good stuff.
3.7 Bottled 375ml (Mikkeller web) Opaque colour, small steady beige head and lace. Toasted, coffeish, cocoa, sukkamehu aroma. Full-bodied. Sweet licorice, roasted malts, some hops. Kind of little brother of Black Hole but with less alcohol and coffee. Much easier but quite nice flavour.
2.8 Bottled, from Systembolaget. Dark brown, rich firm head. Aroma of caramel and coffee. Very sweet with full body and rounded, sticky mouthfeel. Syrup and caramel. Peppery warming finish.
4.1 Copenhagen 16/4 2020. 33 cl bottle from Ølkassen web-shop. Simple drawing of Russian houses with domes and towers and some hungry-looking Black Bears watching this spectacle on the label. Pours opaque dark brown with a small beige head. Settles as 0,3 cm thick layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing. Aroma is medium intense with a strong sweet odor and earthy notes peeking in. Brown sugar, dark chocolate, dried sweet fruit, licorice. Wet soil and compost. Light carbonation. Soft, smooth, viscous, thick texture. Flavor is intense with a strong sweetness and a more moderate sour, bitter streak. Aftertaste is sweet. Lingering. Finish has a light boozy burn reminding me that this is a Black Russian Bear. Overall a very good and solid Imperial Stout with a lot of flavor and a hefty boozy kick. Indeed very pleasant to be mauled by this Bear.
4.1 375ml bottle from MBC. Poured pitch black in color with a tan head. Lovely aroma of sweet licorice candy, some coffee and chocolate notes. Full bodied, smooth chocolate notes, mild coffee and that licorice again. Sweet finish, hint of ash in there later on. Very pleasant stout.
4.0 Bottle from MikkellerBeerMail. Pours opaque black with medium light brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, raisins, soy sauce, prunes and hints of vanilla and coconus. Taste is medium to very sweet, light to medium bitter and faint salty. Body is oily with soft carbonation.Finish is long and rich with notes of gravy, prunes, raisins, vanilla and liquirice.
4.1 On tap at Mikkeller Bar Madrid. Shiny jet black pour with a huge, long-lasting, mostly lacing beige head. Aroma is the usual suspects for the style: cocoa, licorice, espresso, smoke. Dense, slick, velvety, low carb. Balanced, with a powerfully bitter and long-lingering finish. Sip it calmly and mindfully.
4.0 Bottle from MBC. Black body with a medium brown head. Roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, liquorice notes, brown sugar, smooth. Well balanced. Nice with a non adjunct imperial stout.
3.4 33 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma and flavour are roasted malt, liquorice, lactose, caramel, and cocoa - with a roasted finish. For some reason it just didn't come together for me.
3.8 Butelka 375ml (BB 12.11.2024). Czarne, nieprzejrzyste z ładnie krążkującą, beżową pianą. W aromacie paloność, kawa, trochę zboża i sporo alkoholu.
4.2 Bottle from Brewcraft, drank at home w M before he left for Europe. Pours an opaque black-brown with massive fluffy oat-y beige head, streaky foamy legs. Looks great - fluffy and crisp and dark. Smells of coffee bean, dark cocoa nibs, biscuity rich malt, a bit toasty, moderate plum and red/purple fruit, light smoke. Taste is more roasty and less dark than the aroma, Body has some fluffy carb, very nicely dark and roasted, a bit more watery than expected given the appearance but still has a dark slickness. Just excellent. Beautiful appearance and nose. Fluffy, dark, coffee, toasty.
4.2 Bottle from Brewcraft at home before leaving for Europe. Very nice looking pour - pitch black opaque with huge puffy light tan head that descends into frog eyed bubbliness with sticky tan lacing. Aroma is big black chocolatey roasted malts with alcohol. Sounds like a straightforward imperial stout but very well executed. Some leather and wood too, a bit of dark fruit. Taste is rich and chewy boozy chocolate, with leatheriness again, and a subtle sweetness that doesn’t approach cloying at all, like some other Mikkeller stouts. Thick but not too heavy. Lasting warmth and bitterness. Very very very good.
4.8 This is a Russian Imperial Stout, oh yeah! It pour black, a firm tan head and great lacing that resemble the galaxy of Andromeda (just a random one). Aroma of roasted barley, chocolate and bread crust. Tastes quite bitter, toasted barley bitter, toasted cocoa nibs, toasted liver aftermath. Clean and bold, smooth, creamy, full body, no room for cakes. One of the most impressive Russians I have had. Top!
4.4 Half pint at Bistro L'Autre Oeil, Gatineau, Quebec. Pours an o page deep brown colour with a small head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts, and a whiff of caramel. Taste matches the aroma with a light body and moderate carbonation.
4.1 On tap at L'Autre Oeil (Gatineau, QC). Pours an opaque, black body with a thick, lasting, beige foamy/creamy head. Rich, well balanced malty aroma with roasty hints. Alcohol is very well hidden. Its robust malty taste carries chocolate, roasty, plummy, and oaky notes. Again, alcohol is barely noticeable. Ends with a good roasty. moderately warming finish. Well done.
3.5 Dark pour, beautiful head. Aroma of coffee and alcohol burn. Coffee noticeable. Cocoa and licorice, sweet and a lot of alcohol burn. Just ok.
3.9 Tap. Malty aroma and taste, dark chocolate, coffee, light roastyness, vanilla notes, light sweet, medium bitter. Full body, smooth texture, malty bitter sweet finish with notes of coffee pralines. Good.
