What to say, I hate these kind of beers...
4.2Bottle shared @ weekly tasting. Opaque pitch black color, small light brown head. Smell and taste malts, a hint of coffee, liquor, roastyness, only lightly peat...Total surprise... Love this beer. Full body, oily texture, medium to full carbonation. Great beer.
4.0Bottle @benzai. Getting crunk yeayuh. Pitch black colour with a small light brown head. Smells peat, peat, peat, fingerpaint, bandaid. Tastes peat, fingerpaint, roasty. Full body, soft carbo.
3.6Bottled. Pours pitch black with a medium sized, lacing tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, smoke, wood, vanilla and whiskey notes Sweet flavor that ends up more dry and with an alcohol burn. Full bodied, oily text. and soft carb. A very nice impy. indeed.

4.5Bottle at 14th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering on 03/19/2011 from the Charleston Beer Exchange. Dark black body with a small frothy tan head. Huge scotch and peated malt aroma with some roast, chocolate and caramel. Huge smoke, peated malt, creasote, roast and chocolate flavor. Medium body with moderate carbonation.
4.7this is awesome. barrel flavors coming through in the finish after a creamy start. perfect.
2.92011 bottle. Oily black. Aroma of smoke, bog and salt. Taste is seawater, smoke, seaweeds, salt and some faint oak and vanilla. Not my cup of tea.
3.9Bottle shared with Simonsen, edvard & daje
Black, thin tanned head. Smells of peat, tar, roasted malts. Heavy sweet, ashtray, peat, oak, roast and coffee. Moderate bitter finish. Very nice
3.9Sample at the "Far Out! Space-themed beer tasting" on 10/01/2013. Pours a glassy black color with a medium foamy tan head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked malt, coffee and oak. Full-bodied with flavors of earthy malt, peat and dark fruit. The finish is peaty with an earthy and oaky vanilla aftertaste. Pretty good overall.
3.5Corked 37.5 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with some sediment and a tiny tan head that leaves no lacing. Aroma is peat, chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt, and coffee. Flavour is much like the aroma – with a bitter, peaty finish.
4.1Flaske fra esp0r. Drukket på hytta til dag. Svart farge. Beige skumrand. Lav karbonert. Mørkbrent malt, kaffe, lakris,røyk,eik God smak
4.1Bottle from Mane Liquor, shared with Bruce Willis. Pours motor oil black, no head. Immediate aroma of peat, leather, licorice and coffee. So far, so good. Taste is very peaty, hit of coffee, a nice touch of hazelnut, licorice and a warm booziness on the way down. Also a nice whisky malt profile very present. Very reminiscent of Laphroaig. Peatiness accumulates as I pour another glass. I love smokey beers, and this one is certainly up there.
3.8Black with no head. Predominantly peated whisky aroma and taste. Some wood and hogh alcohol finish.
4.0Black pour with a thick brown head. Aroma is sweet of dark fruits, chocolate, leather and whisky. Taste brings out alot of the peat from the whisky, but is very sweet aswell. Loving it.
4.1On tap at Holy Grale, Louisville.
Black pour with a sticky tan head. Lots of lace on the glass.
Full sticky mouthfeel. Nice alcohol warmth in the aftertaste.
Roasty malt, raisin, and very peaty scotch whisky in the nose.
The taste is dominated by the scotch. Very peaty very smoky. Lots of alcohol comes through in the finish. Delicious.
Tasted side by side by side with the white wine and tequila barrel expressions. The strongest tasting of the three, it tasted best as it warmed.
4.4Huge imperial stout, major coffee and dark chocolate notes with peaty whisky on the finish.. Smells of Laphroig and dark chocolate. 2 thumbs up!
4.2Bottle, 2011 vintage.
Pours black with a small brown head.
Aroma is dominated by peat whiskey, tar, smoke, hemp rope but some sweet notes, liquorice and some alcohol shines through at the end.
Taste has sweetness at first followed by peat, liquorice, dry chocolate/cocoa, booze drenched dark fruit/cherries and vinous notes. After taste is long, peaty/tarry and dry. Low carbonation, thick mouth feel. Really great stuff!
I’ve read some bad stuff about this Black Hole variation and I can see why - If you’re expecting Black Hole with a little twist that is. This is pretty much a whole different beer.
4.1Bottled 18/05/11.
Black with quite a large brown head.
Aroma: peaty, chocolate, licorice, creamy.
Taste: peaty, roasted, cigar ashes and tobacco, cream, cocoa, coffee, some grounds, honey, dark fruit, brown sugar.
Full-bodied.
Yeah, I like this.
3.3Very earthy and smokey and peaty. Medium bodied for a stout. Not a fan of smokey stuff so take my rating for what it’s worth.
3.9Bottle. This is a thick and oily impy with a whole lot of whiskey flavor. Almost too much.
4.3A - Dark brown-black with a finger of frothy chocolate colored head. Fades at a normal pace.
S - Dark chocolate and dark caramel malts, oak, whiskey, peat, smoke, roasted coffee, molasses, black licorice, vanilla, some dark fruit, and some booze.
T - Dark chocolate and sweet dark caramel malts, peat, smoke, oak, whiskey, roasted coffee, black licorice, molasses, some vanilla and dark fruit, some citrus and pine hops and a bit of bitterness, and some booze.
M - Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Smooth with a warming, smokey, and sweet finish.
D - Nicely balanced big imperial Stout. Nice body and mouthfeel. The whiskey barrel adds some nice complexity and smokiness to the beer.
4.5Bottled 375ml. Pitch black with no head at all. Leather, vanilla, peat and smoke are most present in the nose. Full bodied. No carbonation. Extremely smooth. Incredibly delicious- this is a great version of the Black Hole. Underrated in my opinion.
4.0Pours black with creamy and frothy brown head. Initial aromas are vanilla, wet wood, seawater, sweetness. Flavours are wet wood, peat, chocolate, vanilla, sweetness from honey, some coffee, some booze. There is a lot of different thing happening In this one...tough to pinpoint all of the beers characterisitics, but I did enjoy every sip.
4.0Bottle at ChrisO tasting, thanks to Toby, 30/12/12.
Mid black with a thin tan head that clears to the edge.
Nose is peaty booze, wood, dark malts, waft of smoke.
Taste comprises full on dark roast malt, sugars, booze, peated whisky, bitter cocoa.
Full bodied with an oily texture and little in the way of carbonation which then leads to a boozey warming finish.
Good stuff !
3.9Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dirty brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of peat scotch is easily discernable with good amount of residual sugar and light dry roasted malt notes. Taste is a pretty intense mix between some peat scotch malt with dry roasted malt and quite an amount of residual sugar. Body is full with oily like texture and good carbonation for style with surprisingly no apparent alcohol. Not something for everyday drinking but still quite an enjoyable experience.
3.7from Erzbierschof - pretty black indeed and with no head retention; deep aroma of phenol, whisky, black chocolate, vanilla and blackberries; almost no carbonation; thick like hell, robust malt backbone; some initial sweetness soon overwhelmed by a huge bitterness; very long and dry aftertaste of tar, peated whisky and chocolate with a never-ending bitterness and a solid warming alcohol kick
3.0bottle was about 2 years old - Holy peat bomb, batman! Dark black chocolate. Ton of oak. Body is thin and flat, some oxidation and oily. hot finish. Peat smoke is huge in the finish, with black strap molasses. Dry, hot campfire. Had to drainpour most of the bottle.
4.4@ Gyllenbock: Enormt rökig whiskeyton. Stor rund smak av våt torv men med en trevlig balans mot stark kaffe. Så gott
