3.9 [6953-20141204] 750mL bottle. Fruity plum malt aroma. Hazy, dark brown amber body with a long-lasting foamy tan head. Boozy plum wood fruit and toasted grains flavour with a long sweet aftertaste. Full body. Sweet, not too boozy. (7/4/8/4/16) 3.9 (c/o blankboy, w/ him, GregClow, HogTownHarry, jercraigs) Overheard: "There’s no such thing as too much cheese, bacon, or garlic." (Harry wants this on a t-shirt)
3.8 2014-12-04. Hazy brown body with a modest tan head. 3+ Aroma is fairly alcoholic, rich sweet malt with light caramel, and toasty malt notes. 7+ Flavour has rich sweet malty core, fruity and alcoholic. Tropical character of the fruit doesn’t really come out until it warms up. 7++ Average plus bodied palate, soft carbonation. Just a touch boozier than my preference - though the alcohol is relatively restrained considering the abv - but a pretty solid take on the style. Bottle shared by Blankboy. Overheard: "There were TWO penis related hubbubs!" "Yeah.... Disney’s full of cocks."
4.0 Bottle at home. Pours deep ruby brown, nose is tropical fruit, citrus, candi sugar, taste is juicy fruit, sweet, rich caramel. I’ve had this a bit too long but the fruit hasn’t quite faded yet.
3.7 October 18, 2014. Bottle at Man in the moon, shared by friends. Hazy dark amber with a small white head. Aroma is caramel, raisins, plums, apples, peach and slight alcohol. Taste is very sweet with ripe fruits and caramel, light bitter finish with warming fruity esters and alcohol notes. Medium bodied.
3.7 Bottle from Kihoskh shared with esp0r, edvard and Simonsen at The "Esp0r #2000 Weekend in The Woods" 2014. Cloudy brown body with a thick tanned head. Aroma of apple pie, caramel, mango, belgian yeast, alcohol, wood. Taste is lightly sweet, plum, tropical hops, burned malt, anise, metallic hints, banana. Quite a lot going on here, the finish adds a hoppy fruit character and alcoholic burn, grand marnier character is there but very subtle. A nice beer, though maybe a bit over the top.
4.2 Bottle at Man in the Moon, shared with friends. Pours a murky caramel with a medium frothy white head. Aromas of caramel, ripe apple, peach, citrus, corinthians, slight booze. Taste is caramel, ripe apple, citrus, peach, slight booze and figs. Mouthfeel is oily and sticky and smooth with low carbonation. Great stuff!
3.2 Bottle at man in the moon, shared by friends. Hazy amber pour with thin white head. Aroma is really fruity, lots of pineapple, peach, really boozy, tons of fruity alcohol notes. Taste is sweet, boozy, very fruity. Palate is warming, lots of alcohol, med bodied with good carbonation. A bit too cloying IMO, but still decent.
3.8 Pours murky brown with low light tan head. Aroma of peach, apple, citrus, corinthians. Taste is sweet ripe fruit and booze, warming finish. Body is medium full and smooth with soft carbonation.
3.9 Flaske fra dags hyttetur. Mørk brun uklar farge. Stor hbit skumtopp. Smalwr karamell, kaffe frukt og kryddr. Lettdrikkelig.
3.3 Hazy dark brown colored pour. Off-white head. Plenty of lacing. slight tropical fruit with some notes of dark fruit and raisins, malt. Taste isn’t much in the way of tropical and I probably wouldn’t drink it again unless it was freezing out.
3.7 Bottle shared by b3shine. Poured a hazy dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted and produced excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex earthy hop and tropical fruit aroma. Medium to abundant body with a dry smooth texture and soft carbonation. Good complex dark fruit sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Good complex brew.
3.9 750ml bottle, shared by b3shine. Kinda hazy amber brown color. Pours with a bigger khaki head. Leaves good, thicker sheets of lace. Hazy dark caramel, slight brown color. Bigger body. Smooth, kind of soft, creamy, lighter carbonation. More drying finish. Cool dark fruit, and tropical fruit aroma, and a light spicy bite at the end. Some caramel malt. Alcohol is otherwise well-hidden for the ABV. Moderate sweet, light to moderate bitter. Just a very light bit of heat. Dark fruit, light spice, hint of some kind of liquor barrel influence. Moderate sweet taste, light bitter. Cool, tasty interesting stuff. Interesting quad, very unique. I enjoyed this.
3.7 750 ml bottle shared by b3shine. Pours a hazy deep amber/brown color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma and flavor have sweet caramel malt, candied fruits, tropical notes, the Grand Marnier character works pretty well with the fruitiness, mild spice, yeast, does get sweet but not over the top, warming alcohol.
3.6 750 ml bottle to snifter (shared with the group; thanks DuffMan). Looks good for the style; a loudy copperish brown with foamy off-white head. Smells of Belgian yeast, dark fruit, and spice. Tastes like it smells with a solid, full-bodied mouthfeel. A fair amount of fruity sweetness, but not quite cloying. Good, not great.
3.5 Unclear brown of color with an off white head. An aroma of fruits, spice, sweets and old appels. A flavor of sweers, dried fruits, a dry mouthfeeling and candy.
3.0 Pours a brown color with off-white head. Notes of caramel, dark fruits, and some hop on the nose, weird combos; follows onto the palate. Not really digging this one.
3.7 Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph. Pours clear dark amber with a large, creamy, beige head. Aroma has caramel, grass, light milky, oak. Medium to low carbonation, fine dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has sweet malts, caramel, vinious, toasted, sugar, exotic fruits. Light mango.
3.6 Lots of died fruity aromas of fig and raisin, surprised to read this has Brett. Very rich and not really tropical in any way. Alcohol very present but still pretty decent.
3.8 Sample at faux-bab. This thing is a wave of tropical fruit. Orange, mango, pineapple, etc. Interesting to taste all of these flavors without the bitterness of an ipa. Very sweet, the orange cognac give it some booze but it mixes well with the fruit. Interesting concept and pulled it off quite well.
3.9 Bottle @ Rasmus, courtesy of Ken1. Pours slight hazy golden with a offwhite head. Aroma of malt, yeast, sweet dark fruits, wood, little alcohol. Flavor is rather sweet with malt, brown sugar, yeast, wood, sweet fruit, port, some alcohol. Medium to full body, soft carbonation, nice warming alcoholic finish. 271013
3.9 A very nice rounded flavor with fruity wine like notes and a nice cask flavor. Aroma is fruity. Color is cloudy brown with a creamy head.
3.9 Bottle from Voldby. Clear dark brown with a big and lasting beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dried fruit, fruity, dark sugar, wood and alcohol. Flavor is very sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and moderate bitter finish with warming alcohol. Good beer but very expensive. 261013
3.6 Bottled. Pours slightly hazy and deep amber with a small. lacing tan head. Aroma of tripical fruits, brett, wood and citrus. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry, with some alcohol and bitter. Medium bodied, oily text. and soft carb. A nice and complex quad.
3.7 bottled. Brown with a small head. Fruity and yeasty, some booze in the finish. Fun.
4.5 Funky yeasty smell but incredible depth of fruity malty deliciousness. The body of papaya and the tangy edges of mango are clearly evident. As the beer warmed to near room temperature it noticeably improved. I was pleasantly surprised!
4.3 75cl bottle. Pours brown-red with small lasting beige head. The aroma is mostly wood, caramel and ripe fruits. The taste is definitely the best: more wood, fruits (not that tropical IMO), toffee and hops. Some toasty notes as well, really nice. The palate is sweet with alcohol/warm notes. Medium body, perfect carbonation from begining to end despite its small head. Top class beer, very good Quadrupel.
4.1 From bottle. Ruby red with a creamy head. Tropical fruits with passionfruit mango winey aroma. Good mouthfeel and carbonation. Fruity taste with lots of orange. Abit too sweet for my taste. Very well executed beer with a big taste although the Grand Mariner dominates too much for me.
