3.4 Tap at BD Shepherds Bush. Pours hazy orange with a creamy white head. Nose is balanced tropical notes with heavy focus on lychee and passionfruit. Plenty grassy but everything seems a little subdued like I have found with this hop series. Taste has plenty of orange zest, focus on lychee and sweet tropical numbers. Very easy drinking with no real dose of bitterness to follow. A bit boring
4.1 Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. A hazy dark amber beer that has rich citrus fruity flavours, pine notes and orange marmalade and peppery notes on the finish.
3.4 Thanks to Reimer for this. Pours dirty brown with a small off white top. Aroma is pine and an almost oak pine hops. Taste is sweet from the malt and resinous from the hops. Woody, oak and pine hop bitterness but well balanced.
3.5 Bottiglia 33cl @ giangaspero frutta e verdura. Ambrata chiara con schiuma fine e persistente. buon corpo, aroma resinoso, forse un filo stucchevole alla lunga.
3.6 Pours a cloudy orangish copper with a thick off white head that leaves sticky lace. Aroma of earthy hops, herbal, sweet pale malts and some floral notes. Taste is herbal, medicinal hops balanced well with a good amount sweet pale malts and the perceived bitterness seems to be less than the stated. Interesting hop... Not the greatest nose and not the greatest Taste but it all blends well together.
3.7 Bottle from Asahiya. Interesting thickly floral aroma (a box of flowers), full of fruitiness, caramel, some spice, and earthy notes. Light amber , thin head and some lace. Heavy grapefruit initial, some Italian herbs, a slight medicinal tinge, and very nicely bitter aftertaste. Medium-heavy body. Interesting stuff. Very tasty. A curious one in this series. Nice to drink and slowly consider how the flavors were created.
4.0 Bottle from Vino Wines. Hazy amber body with tiny yeast flecks floating around. Large off-white head, average carbonation, great lacing. Citrussy aroma with a faint vegetative note. Flavour is sharp, with building bitterness. Sour grapefruit and blood orange. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft carbonation. This is a fiercely bitter hop that is well suited to the IPA style.
3.1 Bottle 330ml. Copper-coloured body contains lots of floaters beneath an ample fluffy off-white head. Sweet malty toasted nutty aromas are prominent with notes of oranges and pine. Taste is more bitter than the nose would suggest with an earthy yeasty presence that grates a little. Feels quite light bodied for the ABV.
3.3 Pours a very cloudy copperish orange colour with suspended solids(likely hops) and a good half inch off white head leaving fair lace on the glass. Aroma is floral, fruity, sweet citrus and earthy. Flavour is earthy, pine, resin, medium bitterness and a little malty that doesn’t come through too strong. Overall the bitterness is a bit odd on its own but a good way to educate on single hop varieties.
3.3 Rather boring brw I’d say. Pours a bright gold with a hue of orange and yellow. The nose is perky and bright with notes of lemon, grapefruit, mild spiced and floral notes. Mild malts on the flavour and a moderately bitter finish.
3.9 This was probably the most interesting of the single hop series. Amber/copper pour with a white head. Aromas of earthy pine and citrus peel. Flavor is similar. The pine and citrus characters play off of each other well. Solid IPA.
3.7 33 cl bottle Pours hazy amber color with a large head. Aroma of hops, grass, some floral notes, mild caramel malts and pine needles. Flavor of mandarin, orange, grassy hops, goose berries and caramel. Medium carbonation, crisp bitter palate. Ok brew. 3515
3.3 from Erzbierschof - hazy dark copper-amber beer under a long lasting beige foam; pretty earthy and hazelnutty aroma with notes of oranges below; a good malt backbone; very bitter and very dry, long aftertaste of marzipan, earth and wood - I’m uncertain what to do of this one
3.5 Bottle from Beer Cartel. Hazy orange/amber, citrus peel, mild herbal/floral, high piney/resiney bitterness, some residual sweetness.
3.6 33cl bottle. Pours light hazy orange brown with huge steady head. aroma is fresh and hoppy. bitter taste (103 ibu) with pine and grapefruit peel. not much aftertaste. Confusingly, the label reads "part of Single Hop IPA series" which is a different Mikkeller series with its own Bravo type???
3.6 330 ml bottle. Pours a dark amber colour with a small white head. Aroma of strong herbs, some pepper, wet grass and mild citrus. Flavour of grapefruit, caramel, strong herbal bitterness, grass and some earthiness. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Finishes warming, grassy and herbal. Bravo seems to be a hop that’s strong on the herbal side, which makes this quite interesting as a single hop. Good stuff.
3.5 A good solid IPA - pours a dark strongbow with a fat white foaming head. Some sherbety notes, some greenish fruit, quite bready and sweet by the end, some sugar and biscuit and a nice slow finish. Pretty tasty without being mindblowing. Maybe a touch too sweet.
3.8 330ml bottle. Pours a hazy caramel with a large, frothy head. Aroma is banana and mango puree. Taste is very bitter. Some banana to start. Aggressive finish.
3.7 Bottle at home, liberated from the legendary Cotteridge Wines, 14/07/13. Hazed copper golden with a mahoosive eggshell white head. Nose is grass, hops, bitter orange, mineral notes, caramel malt. Taste comprises bitter grapefruit, light minerals, assertive hop bitterness, caramel malts, orange pith, light pine bite. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, hop bitterness in the finish. Solid enough offering from this range of single hops, one of the better ones.
2.6 On tap at Beer Temple. Hazy orange colour, white head. Aroma of English hops, unripe fruits, some tropical fruits, vegetable cooking liquid. Flavour has the same characteristics, and I’m not fond of them. Light-bodied.
3.0 From tap at Beer Temple. Pours hazy orange with a medium off-white head. Aroma has a bit of tropical fruits, bit of grass, malty. Taste is the same, medium bitter finish.
3.6 Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass copper coloured, nice head. Dry-hoppy aroma. Starts flowery-hoppy, a bit dry-soapy. Finish milder with some wheaty hints, well balanced. Some bitter notes in the background. Nice!
3.0 33 cl bottle from dranken Geers in Oostakker. Hazzy amber body with of white head. Aroma of bread. Not my style of hops. ***
3.5 Bottle shared with Veitafan. Pours a cloudy dark amber colour with a light beige and creamy medium head. Malty and sweet aroma of caramel and some vanilla and hops. More hops in the flavour but still very malty with pine and some caramel. Balanced. Has a slick and nice mouth feel, ans a lingering medium bitterness. Well-balanced and nice and surprisingly sweet. A bit one-dimensional.
3.7 Bottle. Aroma of orange, flowers, hay and summer, bravo. Unclear amber colour with beige head. Flavour more anonymous with abscence of the promised fruit in aroma. Dry finish with notes of liquorice.
3.3 33cl Bottle. Blind tasting of all 19 Mikkeller Hop Series beers. Shared with Mathieu87. Appearance: amber beer, stable white head. Nose: pleasant scent, some spices noticeable. Taste: a little to much bitterness in the aftertaste, some herbs maybe.
4.3 Sampled as part of a hop education class. Smooth yet still hoppy. More upfront in hops than Williamette, yet with about the same bitterness. As a beer, more flavorful than W.
3.8 Color: nice clear amber beer with big heavy white foam and medium carbonation. Smell: hops, herbs, spice, caramel. Taste: sugar, nice roundness, not so bitterness taste, good equilibrium. Aftertaste: wet bitterness, really strong presence on mouth, and herbs, nice bouquet of grasses. Spring sensation.
2.8 Meh..I’m rating a bottle I got last year from a place where it probably sat for a while so I’m taking that into consideration. All things aside, it’s not a bad beer. Tastes like an English barley wine. Aroma was OK. Hints of earth and melted caramel. Pour was a nice medium brown with a one finger off white head. Taste was all malt. Decent caramel backbone is all this beer has left with just a tiny astringent note that was probably deliciously hoppy. Nice strong carbonation stayed with this beer. Bitter thing finish.
2.9 Fra flaske på Humle i Annen mars-13: første denne kvelden av i alt 19 i serien, og denne var ingen højdare iflg panelet rundt meg. Tørr smak og ettersmak. Gress og høy. IBU 103.
