4.2 A pretty standard IPA from start to finish. A nice hop aroma, a decent hop bite and aftertaste. Nothing really incredible here, but certainly good and easy to drink.
3.5 This review is exported from olutopas.info with no comment. Original rating date 30.9.2010
3.3 Pours a cloudy golden/orange colour small lasting white head and big sticky white lace up the glass. Aroma is perfume-like, mild citrus and sweet malts. Flavour is spicy phenols from the yeast, resin, and mild bitterness mixed with some malty sweetness.
3.4 Bottle from mane liquor. Pours a real light hazy golden with a huge white head. Very carbed up! Nose has grain and mild citrus. Kinda like a half lager half ipa. Taste is very light with mild citrus hops and Belgium yeast. Pretty easy session beer. Not what i expected for an ipa tho
3.7 33 cl bottle as "Mikkeller Drikkeriget GIPA". Originally rated on 20090814. Pours copper color with a large head. Aroma of hops, fruits, caramel and malts. Flavor of caramel malts, hoppy fruits and hay. Very nice and crisp.
4.0 A "German style IPA". Sort of a hoppy hefe. Pours very carbonated, Belgian like, with a giant head. Cloudy like a hefe. Minimal bitterness. Taste to me is hefe base with hops influence. Very light taste, session almost, yet the ABV is 6.6. It's interesting, but at the end of the day slightly unspectacular.
3.5 From the bottle, cloudy orange pou, foamy white head. Grainy, fruity aroma. Taste has some bitterness, interesting beer and some doughy malts and fruity flavor. It is ok, not great.
3.4 Bottle at Patricks, Kristiansand. Pours cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma of grainy malts, some fruity elements. Taste is moderate bitter hops, strange but interesting, medium bodied, moderate sweet end.
3.3 330ml bottle with expiry of 2/14. A hazy amber beer with a decent white head and lacing. Plenty of piney, orangey hops on the nose with a pleasant bittersweet palate and dry hop finish. ABV well hidden.
2.9 Hoppy Easter has some interesting flavor elements but ultimately comes across some what abrasive. Pours hazy maize with a head made of many different size bubbles. Spearmint, grapefruit and strawberry overtones are detectable in the aroma. An unusual malt bill and yeast adds a spicy character. Ends somewhat sloppily with a long bitter whack and some mintiness.
2.6 Very cloudy straw like colour. Sweet aroma with some Belgian funkyness. Taste is rather bitter, but not in an awesome way. This isn’t very balanced and the finish is almost medicinal. Medium body.
3.0 A hazed golden amber IPA with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a sweet musty caven malt with resinous hops, a bit of mercaptoethanol, a tad unpleasant. In mouth, a sweetish biscuit malt with strange resinous hops, light off flavours, not unpleasant, but not my favorite. BB 04-02-2012. Bieropholie import.
3.8 Hazy orange, pillowy white head. Grapefruit, sherbet lemons, grass and light biscuit notes on the nose. Sour citric and bisucit notes dominate the taste. Clean, dry finish. Medium carbonation.
3.2 citrus, color was "dark orange" , white foam, cloudy, heavy cloying sweetness, lightly bitter, full body,
2.9 THOUGHTS: This sample might have been a little skunked. Either that or it was just the German hops overload. Even so slight skunk, but mostly German hops seemed to be the answer. Not really my cup of beer. There is a reason why there aren’t a lot of German hopped IPAs. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a slightly hazy, medium to dark, golden yellow with a large, white head that mostly diminished and left good lacing. The aroma had light bread, toasted malt, biscuit, slight caramel and hints of grain, hay, straw and cereal; moderate perfume, herbal and grassy hops; lighter lemon hops; slight earthy and musty yeast; slight honey; slight cardboard; and slight apricot. The initial flavor was moderately sweet, slightly acidic and slightly bitter; while the finish was lightly sweet, slightly acidic and moderately bitter with a fairly long duration. There was grassy hops, herbal hops, floral and perfume hops, slight honey, white bread, biscuit, doughy and musty yeast; straw and grain. The light to medium body was dry with soft but slightly tingly carbonation and a metallic and moderate to heavily acidic finish.
3.6 Bottle. Slightly cloudy orange pour with a huge white head. Aroma is dominated by tropical fruit. Smooth palate and easy drinking. Very nice!
3.2 11.2 fl oz bottle to flute Apricot, tropical fruit, and hoppy aroma. Translucent amber with a billowing off white head. It's bitter, a little sour with tropical fruit and caramel notes. Mouthfeel is tongue coating and oily.
3.4 The aroma is hoppy with grassy, herbal, and pine like hops. There is also sweet malt and dirty metal. The appearance is deep gold with slight amber hue and a foamy head. Taste is like the aroma. The palate is average. Overall a really good beer that is hurt by the metallic aroma.
3.3 Bottle from perfect pour. Pours golden with a quarter inch of white foam. Citrus and bread notes on the nose. Theres some pine notes that come through on the finish with a slight hint of bitterness. Notes of citrus on the tongue. It’s a quaffable beer but My expectations are always higher with Mikkeller than quaffable.
3.5 Bottle. Vibrant cloudy golden beer with a strong frothy head. The aroma is lightly hopped, and the flavour is very strongly hopped and bitter with a nice grassy tinge. Overall a nice well hopped and bitter beer.
3.5 Creamy white head atop a hazy golden/yellow liquid base. Staying power on the head and plenty of lacing. Smells citrusy with a biscuity malt aroma. Nice up front hop flavor with notes of lemon. Some malt character. Bitter and rounded. Nice beer.
4.2 Pretty good beer as usual from Mikkeller. Poured at a good temperature with a nice, foamy, thick, off-white head that lasts a while and some lace. Color is a clear amber with dozens of active bubble trails. Aroma is hop, malt, caramel, grass, resin. Flavor’s like nose, fairly dry, mostly bitter at first, then slight carbonic tang with suggestion of sweet. Body is soft and full with mild carbonation (don’t know how that’s done!). Finish is like flavor and along with mouth feel is long and very drinkable. Bravo!
3.7 A very hazy appearance with a big ol’ head and some lacing left in its wake. Aromas consist of hops, tart citrus, hay, yeast and funk. Wow...I wasn’t expecting that. This is an unusual take on an IPA, no doubt. The funkiness, while tasting fine, throws my palate a curve ball it wasn’t expecting. The pilsner and Münich malts create a unique version of IPA, the likes of which I have not tasted. Decent feel and carbonation. An interesting beer, though I prefer a straight up IPA without the unorthodox elements.
3.4 pours cloudy orange/light brown with a thick foamy head and lots of active CO2 streams. A pretty muted nose, just a bit of malt and hops. Silky CO2 mouthfeel, sweetness (6/10) up front quickly transitions to sharp dry hoppy bitterness (8/10), light toffee, red apple, cinnamon, and ends smoothly with a soft lingering bitter finish on the tongue and throat. Medium complexity, medium depth, good transitions, good carry, good drinkability. Quite smooth, but not particularly refreshing or exciting.
3.6 [4442-20120603] 11.2floz bottle. Hoppy mango fruit aroma. Hazy, light brown orange body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head and some light lacing. Toasted fruit rind hops flavour has a bitter aftertaste. Medium body is a little bitter. Good, interesting to try. (7/3/7/4/15) 3.6 (w/ jerc)
3.8 2012-06-02. Hazy golden body, small white head. 3+ Interesting aroma, lightly musty-yeasty character up front, sweetish malt, mild fruity esters. 7+ Flavour is similar, fruity up front, modest bitterness throughout, notes of lemon and orange citrus. 7+ Smooth average plus bodied palate has pleasant carbonation. 3+ Hints at tropical fruit in both aroma and flavour. Quite nice. Bottle via trade with Savvy1982, cellared approximately 9 months
3.6 Bottle. Hazy golden orange with a rocky foam. Aromas are pinapple with peach and yeast. Woody with light lemon and a light soapiness. Wheat with some nuttiness. Flavours are bitter pine and grapefruit with lemon. Herbal with R Whites lemonade with bitter lemon. Dry and bitter on the finish with green and fruity notes. Good.
3.5 Smak och doft av tropisk frukt, grapefrukt, apelsin och citrus. God bitterhet i eftersmaken.
3.2 Bottled. Poured near-clear, straw golden with a well-retained, dense white head. The aroma picked up orange and other citrus hoppage over fruity meat and some pale malt.. warmth brought out some dank, floral character and aspartame-laden orange peel. The flavor was bitter the whole way through, with citrus leading.. some pine resin and floral notes too.. very dry, bready support.. finished with slightly broken-down citrus and floral bitterness. Light-medium bodied with a bit too much residual bitterness on the palate.. not a smooth flow to it.. just OK overall.
3.7 Bottle. Hazy golden yellow with a big white head. Slightly musty earthy aroma, with some hay and lemon. Taste is quit wheaty with hay, slightly earthy and lemon. High carbonation with a big bitter finish. Not really a conventional ipa but nice nonetheless. More like a wheaty lager meats ipa.
