English: It’s Alive!!! Indeed it is. This Belgian Ale has been aged on White Wine barrels to give it that touch of alcohol, while the Brettanomyces give the tartness. Complex but well balanced beer.

3.1 PunkAGM2015 rate catchup from notes. 6/6/15. Unfortunately suffered from following a DIPA and so subtlety as lost a little. Pretty funk and sour. Not my thang.
4.0 Tap. Kings Arms, Bethnal Green. Hazy amber. Thin, bubbly, off white head. Raisins. Booze. Fruit. Funk. Foamy palate. Hint of dry. Tasty. Fruity. Rich. Very nice.
3.6 375cl bottle at home, poured an very dark amber colour with a big fluffy off head. Nose of fresh pineapple, white grapes, tropical fruits, horseblanket, spiced yeast, malts, Brett, grape skin, oak, white wine. Lot’s of funk, old dust, some musky aftertaste. Sweet caramel sugar, more pineapple and funk when it’s starting to warm. Was expecting a little bit more

3.3 Bottle bought in Copenhagen in May 2012. Hazy amber with a fluffy white head. Aroma and taste of brett, white wine, funk, light berries and some alcohol. The finish was dry and the mouthfeel medium.
3.7 Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; clear light copper pour with a frothy beige head, light funk and lemon aroma, taste has a hint of spice, with some funk, lemon, powdery yeast, some grape.
4.8 Brettanomices aroma, sweet malts, caramel, wild honey, hint of yellow fruit Extremely well balanced, spectacular
3.8 Aroma is soured grape, a light funkiness and vinegar. Taste is light sweet malts engulfed by a full mouth souring body. Finishes with a tanginess. Appearance is a hazy amber with a thin pearl head that retains fairly well.
4.1 Really complex aroma, the White wine barrel comes through hard, with a follow up of Brett yeast. A beer geek’s aroma! Lively carbonation .
3.0 Old rating. Pours hazy brown, with a big creamy head. Aroma is sharp citrusy lemon, oak and white wine grapes. Flavour is sour fruits with plums, unripe apples and notes of lemon. Lingering tart citrusy finish.
4.0 19.2.2015. Aroma has strong wood and sour notes, winey. Taste is soft, smooth, oak, white wine. Not highly carbonated.
3.1 Bottle as a leaving UK gift from G and Tasha - thanks guys. Poured into a snifter, burnt amber, small white head. Soft vinous aroma, slightly tart and woody, some gooseberries and lemon. Medium carbonation. Mild plastic, white bread, a woody bitterness. Somewhat hot and boozy, a heady alcoholic heat to it. Finishes very dry with lingering heat. Feels like drinking vodka and soda, which is probably not the intention.
4.0 Bottle. Dark copper color, big white head. Aroma of barnyard, hay, brett and white grape. Deliciously soft and creamy taste of horseblanket, brett, oak, slightly boozy white wine, candi vanilla and a little caramel and old hops in the finish. Barrel aging works quite well. Really good beer.
2.9 Bottle. Hazy golden pour with head. Light white wine, some sour aromas and a touch of off tone. Why does this have smoke flavors, otherwise light tart and Belgian tones.
3.6 Bottle at barrel aged tasting at Appellation Wines Comely Bank. I enjoyed the intermingling of sour, bitter and also sweetness in parts. The sweetness was a barrel thing - mainly toffee and perhaps vanilla a little. But this was washed away by the bitterness but mainly the sourness. Great palate.
4.1 Murky amber, greasy brown envelope. Funky grapefruit, grassy and speckles of tangerine. Initial taste is lean gummy bitter, droplets of sherry clementine and clean grapefruit. Fairly fizzy and fairly brisk mouthfeel. Lean seabuckthorny bitter (I guess), linger is soured chalk.Pale golden, sultry filmy and off white head. Peppery creamy chalky nose. Initial taste is lean crisp juicy lychee and white grapefruit, very crisp and creamy. Lean acidic but ABV is completely bypassed. Not juicy or too chalky dry, finishes lean crisp spicy grapefruit and a dry dusty linger. Bottle, Cheers Paul.
3.9 Bottle. Amber with off white head. Aroma of brett, grape, resin, oak. Taste is oaky, funky, wine, brett.
3.6 Bottle at Craig’s. Pours hazy amber, nose is funky, toffee, grape, bretty, taste is dry toffee, sweet, light juice, falls a bit flat.
3.2 Bottle at Craig’s. Pours clear golden amber with a short-lived head. Aromas of light brett funk, white wine, boozy. Taste is dry funky. Finishes dry.
2.8 bottle at home .. copper ... thin tan lacing ... soft bretty fruit ... light wine nose ... soft funky fruit .. bretty fruits ... light dry sour ..
3.1 Nice anber colored beer with a fair amount of off-white head. Nice looking beer. A sweet aroma that makes me think of an old wooden ship. I dont find the taste as sour as I had exoected of a lambic style beer and had actually hoped for some more. It has some sourness but also a lot of sweetness and a little saltiness. The best thing about the taste I think, is the woody taste of the whine barrels. I am a little disapointed since I had quite some expectations to what I thought was a Mikkeller classic, and I really loved the recent lambic Hues also by Mikkeller. I must admit that a had a little cold at the time of tasting though, so maybe some aroma has past me by, and I might not have gotten 100 procent of the potential experience.
3.8 pours unclear yet bright medium dark golden with a creamy off-white head offering good retention and lacing. intense leathery and peppery bretts, borderline rotten fruits - berries, toasted spicy wheat, chocolate brettiness, rhubarb, coffee grinds, spices - miscellaneous although dill seeps through. bright carbonation, light body, dry bretty-woody-very astringent finish. more complex and less off (as per caramel and slightly rotten fruitiness) than chardonnay/mango edition. tasty and dry enough to make it enjoyable.
3.4 Bottle. Copper/amber pour, off-white head. Little retention/some lace. Aroma of dust, wine, barrel, funk. Palate is sweet, oak, lightly bitter, brett. Palate is dry, slick, lightly bitter finish. A bit muddled, like drinking old wine....
3.7 Bottle 375ml. Pours very dark amber with low-medium diminishing cola-like beige head. Some lacing. Aroma is of acetic acid, vinegar. Taste is of acetic acid, fruits, wine, oak, alcohol, some caramel. Palate: Light-medium body. Medium-high carbonation. Overall: Good. The best "It’s Alive" I’ve had.
4.0 14.01.2015, 0,375l bottle sampled @ BBGTC tasting: Nice creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly sour-ish fruity, oak, grass, wet hay, tropical fruits, whitewine barrel. Taste is slightly sour-ish, oak, sorrel, tropical fruits, yeast, whitewine barrel, grass, hay. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Nice.
3.5 Bottle share with bbgtc. Pours a orange color with a small white head. Aroma of wood, grapes, hay, grass and stables. Taste is slightly acidic and slightly sweet. Hints of wood and grapes / grapepeels. Dry with medium body and co2
3.2 Bottle. Copper/amber pour, off-white head. Little retention/some lace. Aroma of dust, wine, barrel, funk. Palate is sweet, oak, lightly bitter, brett. Palate is dry, slick, lightly bitter finish. A bit muddled.
4.3 Aroma is lightly barnyardy, hints of tartness/wine barrel. A bit tempered. But the flavor is quite solid, with a bretty pineapple character given a tart edge by wine barrel. Dry finish. In a world of mediocre Mikkeller sours, this one is quite good and probably a touch underrated. Elegant in its simplicity.
