3.2 It does not smell very good. Raisins with liqueur, , very bland scent at first, then maybe some grapes. Taste: fine, all from aroma is here, dried fruits, no bitterness, no alcohol noticeable.
3.8 Brown/black appearance with a tan head. Aroma of toasted malt, dark fruit/esters, mild caramel, light earthiness and light herbal/floral notes. Similar flavor, rich and layered with smooth sweetness and a light bittering balance. Medium to full body with a soft, lingering finish. Nice.
3.7 Brown, nice white head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruits, spices, raisins - belgian notes. Taste of caramel, spices, dark fruits. Boring Belgium. Medium body, well hidden alco. Medium carbonation. Correct one.
3.6 Bevuta in bottiglia. Birra stile belgian ale scura. Non particolari profumi. Comunque molto buona.
3.8 gyllenbrun, svisker, tørket frukt, karamell litt tynn,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
3.7 Dark caramel Amber foamy head. Aromas olve, Candi sugar slight banana, slight yeast. Flavors toffee, slight banana ester, caramel, slight bread, slight yeast. Medium to high sweetness. Not that complex for an abt quad, but tasty. Not the kind of quad I look for.
4.4 Tmavé a dobré...
4.0 Dark and sublte red pour with a decent tan head. Nice pleasant aroma with a fine intensity in this one. Quite ok to sniff on for a while. Also a fine balanced sweetness for a beer like this. And a mellow carbonation level that made it easy to drink. Boozy, but no sticky alcohol. Dried fruits, toffee, brown sugar and a bit vinous flavor. [Bottle from Mikkeller in Copenhagen, Denmark]
3.4 Can shared at a tasting at Max's place. Brown with a frothy beige head. Mildly nutty, a little alcoholic aroma, sweet, a little nutty, some cocoa and a little alcoholic in the mouth. Full body, fizzy, long, bitter and alcoholic finish.
3.0 At Max Place, pours black with a beige head, aroma of chocolate, fruits, flavor of chocolate, fruits, sugar, medium bodied
Gott!
4.1 16 February 2019. At Struise Shop, Bruges. Shared with Anke. Cask: vintage 2015. Pours hazy brown with a lasting, small, unstable, frothy, yellowish tan head; lots of lacing. Strong aroma of pear syrup, Turkish delight, candied plum, earth, roasted peanut, milk chocolate, herbal liqueur, green tea. Taste is medium to heavy malty sweet, pure candied plum & Turkish delight with a caramelly edge & a dash of pear syrup; light herbal bitter middle offers balance, notes of cookie spices, green tea, bit roasted, chocolatey & nutty. Dryish, herbal & peppery hoppy finish, lingering caramel, plum & nuts, and a firm dash of warming herbal liqueur alcohol. Medium to full body, oily-syrupy texture, soft carbonation. Funny to discover this is inspired by Rochefort and the likes, with Mikkeller making an over-the-top version of it.
5.0 Pression 25cl le 13/02/2019. Mousse : Marron, bulles moyennes, bonne tenue. Liquide : Brun foncé. Nez : Caramel, sucre, pruneaux, pomme caramélisée, fruit noir/rouge/confit, malt torréfié. Bouche : Caramel, sucre, pruneaux, raisin sec, fruit noir/rouge/confit, malt torréfié, pomme/poire caramelisée, fruits secs, doux, bonne amertume.
Malts pils, pale.
0.5 From my beer cellar after about 2 or 3 years. Pours cloudy dark brown with a nice tan head. Huge aroma of molasses, raisins, dried cherry, caramel. Flavor is purple grapes, brown sugar, and something a little earthy. Fizzy mouthfeel and actually slightly watery. Hit alcohol on the palette like whiskey. Ok, but much better of the style.
3.3 0,33l bottle. Pours dark brown/mahogany with light beige head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruits (dark grapes), brown sugar, slight spice. Taste is sweet, wine like, caramel, malty, dark fruit sweetness, dark grapes (which i do not like), dry. Full bodied, soft carbonation. Close to red wine in both aroma & taste, which I can't stand.
3.7 Butelka 330 ml, belgian dark ale. Pełne, żlożone, potężne, alkohol fajnie ukryty. Czuć belgijskie drożdże w smaku i aromacie. Delikatne rodzyny w aromacie, opiekany chlebek w smaku, zdecydowanie słodowe, bezgoryczkowe, wysycenie niskie, piana do zapomnienia ale barwa fajna, brązowawa. Treściwe, jak na quadrupla bez sztosa.
3.7 pite jakiś czas temu. uzupełnienie profilu. Ocena przepisana z utpd. Miłego dnia.
3.8 As Mikkeller Monks Brew: Appearance: Dark brown, huge amount of tan head. Aroma: Dark malt, milk chocolate, some sweetness. Taste: Dark malt, dark fruits, very sweet, caramel, toasted, Belgian yeast. Bought: Mikkeller & Friends Bottle Shop (Copenhagen), 330 ml, DKK 41.00 Info: 19/10-2018, BB: 20/6-2024
4.0 (> levure, musco, µ-baie red, µ-amande, ronde, épicée-levurée, > maltée, ~figue, casso-miel, last metal, too sucrée)
3.6 330ml bottle as Monk's Brew, aged 2 years. Pours a deep mahogany with a thick beige head with good retention. Aroma is malty, spicy, caramel, fruits. Taste is sweet, malts, dried fruits, spices, caramel, sugar, warming alcohol in the finish. Medium bodied, soft carbonation.
3.6 Piwo nr 800 na ratebeer. W aromacie kakao, figi, rodzynki, czekolada.
3.5 On draught at Mikkeller NYC. Pours a cloudy rusty reddish-brown with a moderate linen white head that lasted through the first half od the glass and left moderate lace. Very pleasant aroma of sweet malt, brown sugar and caramel. The flavor is sweet with malt, caramel, brown sugar and a bit of molasses. Some notes of dates as well. There was a definite alcohol presence noted in the flavor of this beer which I think interferes a bit. Alcohol flavor and some heat at the finish. A bit thin in body, particularly for the style. Needs a bit more heft in the body.
4.0 Bottle was hanging put in my fridge for a while after having got it at Mikkeller Beer and Music Celebration in Boston: pours murky brown with a large tan head. Aroma is loads of dark fruit, malts, smoke. Really excellent aroma. Taste is not too sweet. Loads of fruitiness. Medium body. Nice level of complexity. Quite good.
3.9 caramel, floral, alcohol, vanilla, brown, minimal head, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, average carbonation, full body, long finish,
3.5 Draught @ Mikkeler Odense. Pours cloudy dark ruby-brown with airy light tan head. Clear aroma of fruit, malt and yeast, with touches of caramel. Sweetish flavour of malt, yeast and fruit, with touches of caramel and bitter notes of hops and alcohol. Bitter, boozy aftertaste. Well, not bad for the style, I should think. Reasonable but not quite like the big boys within the style.
4.0 Bottle. Pours hazy reddish dark brown with large white foamy head. Aroma is malt, port wine, prunes and milk chocolate. Taste is medium sweet, medium bitter, light acidic and faint salty. Body is creamy with fizzy carbonation. Finish is long and rich and mostly sweet.
3.6 On bottle @Ølfred - Aarhus Streetfood. Pours deep red, with thick head. Scent: Prunes, dates, figs, brown sugar. Taste: Sugar, a bit alcoholic, quite sweet. Texture: Watery-ish, shorter aftertaste than expected. Great beer, it should just be more intense in the taste.
