Mikkeller Nuclear Hop Assault

Mikkeller Nuclear Hop Assault

A tribute to the metal band Nuclear Assault, this Double IPA is bright and crisp with a combination of citrus, peach and fresh cut grass on the nose. The flavors combine tons of lemon and grapefruit peel from the hybrid hops and is rounded out by sweet caramel notes.

3.4 0,3 litre Bottle from Vinmonopolet Moa Ålesund. Golden with white head. Heavy malts, heavy hops, high bitterness.
3.4 Golden colour with lasting fluffy head. Aroma and flavour have some interesting floral and fructose notes. Later heavy malt and slightly skunky hop. Complex and interesting.
3.7 330 ml bottle at Beer Bros, Mexico D.F. Pours a hazy light golden with a white head. The aroma is medium hoppy with fresh citric fruits, orange, lemon, some cucumber and some biscuity malt. Medium-full body with a light sweetness and a medium to medium-heavy bitterness along with hints of alcohol. The flavor is medium hoppy with fresh citric fruits, lots of grapefruit, hints of cucumber, some apricots, orange, lemon and some malt (biscuit and bread) in the back. Finishes with a lasting hoppy bitterness. Decent but not outstanding, a very hoppy, fresh and crisp Imperial IPA, which is dominated by the hoppy bitterness. Aroma: 7 Appearance: 4 Taste: 8 Palate: 4 Overall: 14
3.6 A fine quaff to be purchased wherever you might find it, Mikkeler’s Nuclear Hop Assault is a tastetastic bonanza for your senses. The double IPA was amber and gold in color when held up to the light. Smells of hops and florals dominated the nose; however, less pronounced but present were fruit, specifically oranges and mangos, and booze. I was surprised by the lack of pine, given the style of and ABV in the beer. Although on tap, Nuclear Hop Assault was unfortunately poured pint to rim, so a few big sips were needed for space to swirl the beer. Even then, and through no fault of craftsmanship, the head and lacing seemed thin. The beer did have nice amounts of carbonation and chew. You can definitely taste hops and earthiness up front, but subtler notes clamor to be noticed too. There was citrus, a sweetish caramel, and boozy bourbon, all of which seemed nicely balanced. The finish lingered long, crisp, and dry.
3.3 Fruit hop malt aroma. Murky yellow brown colour good head and lacing. Malt caramel spice flavour. Smooth lingering palate.
3.4 Mikkeller Singapore bottle (8-Jun-18) Spirit sweet grapefruit aroma. Cloudy amber, low head and suds lacing. Luscious grapefruit herbal flavour. Bitter grapefruit grassy finish and herbal fruit spirit aftertaste.

3.4 Bottle @mogwai, Helsingborg. Pours a golden colour beer with a medium head. Fruity and hoppy with notes of passionsfruit and grapefruit . Dry finish.
3.4 At Tom's Place, pours yellow with a small head, aroma of fruits, peach, yeast, flavor is bitter with orange, tangerine, malt, medium bodied
3.5 0.33 l bottle from Svijet piva (World of Beer), Zagreb. Tasting session with Višnja 666 and Pilot Goran in the summer of 2017. Hazy golden, off-white head. Lightly to moderately hoppy, fruity. Bitter, nice malty background. Medium body, moderate carbonation, drinkable for an 8%, moderately lasting dry finish. Not so much hops in the aroma, but the bitterness is great!
3.8 330ml bottle bought at Gorgeous Wine & Cigar in Yuen Long. Looks:Clear straw golden honey colour with a thin ring of dirt-like yeast sediments; One finger head with crumpety white foam which lasts for 2 minutes; Good sticky lacing with active slight carbonation. Aroma: Very fragrant and fruity Ale malt, with strong mangoes, strong peach, passion fruits, tropical fruits, floral, fructose, spices, light pine, biscuits, lemon and fresh grass. Taste: Mid to strong sweet full Ale malt, with caramel, strong grapefruits, strong citrus peels, floral, sugar, spices, herbs, strong pine, resins, dry biscuits, very strong lime, very strong bitter hops and sharp grass. Body: Full body. Very slick and oozy palate. Mouth Feel: Rich Ale maltyness in a thick and slick background. Very immense grapefruit and peely citrus dominate with an undertone of caramel. Flowery with strong sweetness well balanced by loads of hoppiness. Very piney and oozy. Herbal spicy with very strong lime to round. Overbearing but nice! Hoppiness: Strong mangoes, strong peach, passion fruits, tropical fruits, floral, spices, light pine, lemon and fresh grass in nose. Strong grapefruits, strong citrus peels, floral, spices, herbs, strong pine, resins, very strong lime, and sharp grass in taste; Bitterness is very strong for a lasting, very high astringent sweet-bitter herbal malty finish. After Taste: Quite dry. Piney citrusy and strong bitter to mouth. Comments: This one's hoppy kitchen sink approach has a very pleasant tropical fruity aroma, rich maltyness, and powerful hoppiness in grapefruit peels, lime, herbs, pine and resins. It's domineering, but all in a good way for us hopheads. Recommended!
3.7 Golden light colour. Aroma of grapefruit and tropical fruits. You can also feel a bit of the alcohol warm.
3.6 Giallo torbida con schiuma sottile compatta. Al. Naso floreale erbacea frutta. La bevuta inizia amara con intensa frutta e agrumi, pompelmo. Finisce speziato e amaro. Corpo medio. Ok.
3.8 Great IPA! Not very flowery and more on the bitter side, but anyhow a good mikkeller.

3.5 Bottle from Pezinská pivná pumpa. Post apocalyptic survivors report. No big deal. No radiation, some citruses in aroma. Taste radiationless, hops and vanilla. Okay, but missing the big hit.

3.8 From a 33 cl bottle. Pours a clear copper with an off white head. Pine and citrus aromas. Flavors of spruce and alfalfa. String bitter flavor.
3.8 Hazy, straw-yellow, fizzy, a finger of a frothy white head and some lacing. Aroma of tropical fruits, strong, with notes of citrus. Tastes quite bitter, hops over malts, with pineapple, mango, grapefruit and passion fruit, bitter after taste. Quite crisp and easy to drink, average carbonation, bitter finish. Quite typical hoppy American IPA, tasty and solid.
