3.5 Bottle. Clear golden color with good white foam. Aroma: malty, slightly smoked cheese, little spicy. Taste: smoked cheese, malt, good hop bitterness.
3.3 Yellow to orange, cloudy. Nice stable head. Moderate smoked aroma. Light body. Smoke & american hop on taste. Pleasant -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
3.6 Bottled 330ml. -from Svijet Piva Zagreb. Cloudy golden coloured, small white to off-white head, quite pleasant smoked bacon in the nose. Moderate malty, light caramel, decent hoppy and smoked sausages with mild grassy notes in the finish. Pleasant beer.
3.2 Bottle light amber body with white head. Aroma is some smoke with grains and hints of citrus. Taste is smoke with grains. Aftertaste is smoke with some sourness.
3.2 From tap at Mikkeller Bar. Golden colour with a white head. Aroma and flavour of malt, caramel, smoke, citrus and grass.
3.0 Bottled: Eyes: Hazy, deep golden with a lacing head. Nose: Char coal, wood, smoke. Mouth: Medium body. Tongue: Fat smoke, citrus, grass. Brain: Pretty good but it never reaches Schlenkerla heights.
3.2 Draught @ Mikkeller Bar, Aarhus. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of malt, little sweetness, light meaty smoke, grassy hops. Flavor is light sweet, malt, grain, light meaty smoke, smoked ham, grass. Medium body, average carbonation. 271215
3.7 Bottle. Medium golden, average white head. Slightly meaty smoke, grains, and hints of grass. Hammy smoke, bready grains, hoppy finish. This worked for me-- delicious.
3.1 Bottle at home. Pours hazy yellow, nose is light smoked sausage, toffee, grassy, taste is similar.
3.2 Tallahassee, Fl - Beer Stop - 12 oz bottle. Pours a slightly murky dark golden, tight snow white head, light lacing. Aroma has a nice smoky essence to it, some cured meat. Flavor has a nice smoky essence to it with some smoked ham, a touch of crisp honey pilsener like sweetness. Crisp mouthfeel. Let’s call this one decent.
3.5 "A big fluffy head, light smoke and noble hop aroma. Body is dry and medium bodied. Flavor could use a little more smoke, but this is already a decent hoppy pile so the smoked wood is just a bonus. "
2.9 Lightly roasted/smoked marzen aroma. 11.2 oz euro-longneck with a bad label. Foggy bronze beer with a clingy, almost-white head. Lightly sweet. Rauch-marzen. Cereal-bittering amidst the smoke. Almost like a dilute liquid smoke cocktail. Medium body, long bitter finish. Yeah, OK, nothing I want two of. Beer Stop, Tallahassee.
3.5 So while this appears to be retired, I spied my first bottle of this in New York’s New Beer Distributors fairly recently. In any case, it did not taste old to me... Poured golden with a white head. Aroma was grass and a light amount of rauchbier style smoke. Taste was slightly sweet (maybe because of age), but built on a solid pilsner backdrop. The smoke was nice. It added a nice meaty taste to it. Overall, pretty good.
3.3 Botella de 33 cl, adquirida en tienda XXXII. Color dorado. Sabor a malta, lupulo, ligeramente a bacon ahumado.
3.7 Pleasant smoked meats and smoked grains. High effervescence with a residual head, hazy yellow color. Moderate smoke flavor with appropriate level of hopping for a pilsner. It is nice when a lighter style is smoked since you don’t have to overload it. Crisp zesty body, nice dry after effects. Retired now like so many Mikkeller experiments, glad I sampled when I did.
3.7 Bottle to pint glass Light smoke, orange, cinnamon, bacon, toasted malt. Cloudy amber with a mottled and thin white head. Taste is smoky, with some grapefruit, and orange and a nice bitterness.
3.6 So when you open this beer it just foams and runs out all over the place and that alone is grounds for disqualification. I really dont care what the excuse is and its too bad since its a decent tasting beer. No wonder "they" "retired" it.
3.7 330ml brown bottle. Pours golden, light haze. Creamy white head on top. Nose has wood smoke with a soft whiff of smoked meat and some hops. Taste has grainy malt, bread, grassy hops and late, mild smokiness that takes a while to evolve. Noble hops in the aftertaste with a nice long bitterness and mild smoke notes. Overall an interesting brew with an appetizing aroma. I would have liked a more forceful smokiness in the taste, it’s a bit too subtle for me, it comes and goes and takes a bit of searching to find it. It;s there but I need more. It works fine as a hoppy pils though, so I’m happy with it in the end...
4.2 Pours a clear golden yellow with an orange hue and a huge frothy white head that leaves a ring of lace with every sip. Aroma of smoked malts, toast, Graham crackers, yeast and some floral hop notes. Taste is smoked malts, toast, spicy hops and grainy. Finishes clean and crisp with a dry finish. Has a really good balance and makes a rather boring style interesting with the addition of roasted malts.
3.3 Hazy orangeish yellow with a medium head. Some lacing. Aroma is smoky, but not in a strong disturbing way. Also bready malts and grassy hops. Taste is smoked ham, again quite light, but pleasant. Turns into light bitterness. Mouthfeel is rather light too. Very drinkable and as I’m not into strong smoked beers, this one was a pleasant surprise.
3.5 Bottle. Clear amber, frothy off-white head and strong lacing. Aromas of extinguished log fire, grain and a touch of spice. Subdued smoked ham is the lasting flavour with elements of grain, a wheaty spiciness and some floral notes towards the end of the palate. Fairly highly carbonated and a dry finish. A subtle smoked beer and quite enjoyable.
4.2 Pours a slightly hazy dull golden yellow with a large creamy white head that leaves lots of lace. Aroma is smoked malts(fairly reserved and not overpowering), graham cracker, and light floral nits underneath. Flavour is smoked malts, spicy noble hops, grainy, low-medium bitterness, and a crisp medium dry finish. This beer is really well balanced especially seeing as it would be really easy to over do it with smoked malts in a lighter beer like a pilsner. I don’t find the smoke to be all that strong but put into a pilsner it wouldn’t take much to make it the dominant characteristic, I love smoked beers and this is a nice touch to a style I often pass on.
3.6 Mikkeller.
3.8 Color: clear blond beer with no carbonation and small white foam. Smell: smoked malt, caramel and wheat malt. Taste: wheat malt with roasted malt notes and caramel. Aftertaste: nice bitterness with roasted malt and rye.
3.5 Bottle from trade with oh6gdx, many thanks. Orange golden color with medium white head. Aroma of malt, grassy hops, smoke. Taste sweet malt, some herbs, followed with smoked bacon and sausages. Good.
3.7 33cl bottle from The Bottle Shop, Canterbury drunk at home listening to Jesus Jones. Hazy orange gold colour with a thick lasting ivory head. Some smoke on the aroma. Yes really quite smoky but in a good way. I like it. Stupidly drinkable. The smoke is quite light, more like a smoked cheese. The base beer is fine. Aye nay bad. Some bite on the finish. Good.
