3.4Bottle at Peter’s 2nd annual spring gathering. Pours a just clear orange with a thin white head. Fruit, sweet, orange peels. Candied bananas and oxidization. Medium bodied, sweet. Light fruit and a touch of alcohol on the finish.
3.9An aroma ulike anything I’ve ever seen. Absolutely fantastic with allmost wine-like aroma and very fruity with red berries, and also the darker berries represented. Has a beautiful color. The taste is powerful and also has a wine-likeliness to it, with a fruity, yeasty domination, with the warmth that is expected from a christmas ale. The spicy cinnamon, liquorice and clove flavours are also represented.
3.9Bottle at Pilsner Pete’s RBSG. Pours muddy brown. Nose is nuts, spices, star anise, caramel and light licorice. Taste is same with sweet alcohol, spice and dark fruits.

2.6Botella, Unclear amber brown colour, short head. Sweet toasty caramel alco dark fruity past date (not in a good way) aroma. Ok mouthfeel. Sweet caramel dark fruity bit spiced alco oxidated flavour. Sweet dark fruitish caramel bit unpleasant finish. The alc. is nice and warming, that’s the best about this beer. Old beer that has been stored too long.
2.7I would recommend not keeping this anymore in the cellar.
purchased in ølbutikken nov.13 2009, sampled feb 21, 2010. bbf 24-12-2010
Generally the impression is that of a mediocre barleywine where the hops have been killed by oxidation. beneath the bad hops i do find a very nice blend of begian yeast, spices and dark fruits. But the aroma and flavor are both hevily influenced by aged hops and old beer.
amber, smooth small white head.
aroma of aged beer, old hops, cherry booze, faint sweet berries note.
flavor is quite oxidized, berries, caramel, faint christmas spices. tastes like old beer.
as the bottle stood there for an hour or so, the beer started to taste better, the belgian inspired flavors sort of overwhelmed the oxidized hops.
Tastes like a good beer past it’s prime, going downhill from here.
3.775cl courtesy of Papsoe and shared with BMan1113VR. Poured a muddled darker copper and bronze colour with a thin off-white head that settled into a ring. BIG aroma of caramel, candy sugar, banana and a some dark rum. Very strong dark, candied fruit flavours with more dark rum...still a little hot after 4 years but still nice. Full mouthfeel.
2.3750ml bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki, Winter beers 2009)
Looks pleasant, slick and dark. Aroma is blackcurrent in spades. Taste is pure glue. Bad. For once, I believe Anna’s "tastes like shit" annotation isn’t ironic. More glue everywhere - argh! Make it go away!
3.82006 vintage (Danish bottle) generously shared by THE BelgianBeerGal and her husband. Pours with a murky brown body and a fading tan head. Aroma of brown sugar, chocolate, vinous notes and light banana esters. Taste is big and still a bit boozy. Notes of dark fruit and ever so slight oxidation. Rich, rum notes with some raisins. Delicious. Creamy mouthfeel and carbonation. Thank you guys so much for sharing this wonderful beer!
3.7Amber of color with a nice beige head. An aroma of malt, bread, weak hops and spice, sweets and toffee. A flavor of malt, toffee and spice.
3.5Thick creamy light brown diminishing head. Brown hazy body. Aroma of malt, nutty and caramel. Thick texture. The taste is heavy sweet and light bitter.
3.813-DEC-2009, bottle @Erik, brought by Gert.
Tasted blind.
Dark amber, nice head. Lovely nose with a great deal of alcohol. What is this beer? Not a barley wine although there are some of the signs. A tad less intense on the nose than I would expect a barley wine.
It is malty, though not very roasted. A little thin on the ending, but nice smooth beer, that seems a bit understated. Like something is waiting underneath, but just not comes out.
The bottle is revealed and what a surprise! My guess was barley wine, but I see it is just an old beer. Did they change the recipe that much over the years or is it mostly due to age?
Well in no way too old, but I guess this was a better beer a year or two ago?
3.3Bottled (0,66 ltr, Pikkulintu)
Hazy dark ruby color, steady creamy off-white head. Oxidezed vintage aroma, somewhat similar to Nils Oscar Jul Öl 2004 I had earlier same day: vanilla, some dark fruits. A bit thin already. Some dark malts, toffee, light hoppyness. It’s still a good beer, but hops and malts are much lighter than eg. a year ago.
3.8Rating #1600. Bottle. Hazy amber body with a creamy longlasting off white head. Heavy malty aroma with lovely abt yeasty notes and x-mas spices. Dark molasses and dried dark fruit. Sweet malty flavour with a lick of spices and rip fruit. Ends up fruity and bit alcoholic. Very nice.
2.9Bomber shared by Jason. The beer pours to a clear iced tea colored body with a thin off-white head. The aroma is dates and yeast with a lot of spicy components. The flavor is lots of spices and almost a medicinal herbs with caramel and bananas. The palate is super sharp and over-carbonated with a bunch of alcohol.
2.9Bomber, dated 00/00/2006.. weird. Poured clear coppery-amber with a short, somewhat loose-bubbled beige head. The aroma picked up rich, toffee, dark fruits, and molasses amplified by a spicy alcohol presence and a yeast I know I’ve picked up in other Mikkeller stuff.. a touch medicinal on the back, and this came close, but didn’t quite jive. The flavor found more of the molasses and dark fruit at the core with sharp fruity bitterness, warm spices, and medicinal boozage around.. sharp through the finish. Medium-bodied, but with a much lighter feel than I would’ve liked.. sharp overall, and it really didn’t come together.. bummer.
2.3Mostly clear rust colored body with a small brown sugar colored head. Semi-sweet nose contains some small hints of whatever herbs or spices were added, but mostly there’s an unnecessary medical/nutrisweet note. Flavor isn’t much different - difficult to get over medicinal/chemical flavors, some twang, some caramel malt, some muted spices. Doesn’t come together into anything good. Body is syrupy up front but thinning in the middle, spices are a mess, malt body is a mess. Awful.
2.8murky red amber that is hazed with a dark shade of white for a head. oxidized nose with cinnamon and old apple pie(minus the cheese). figs and apple flavor with a light dusty spice. a bit of chocolate in the finish. lingering pepper notes. thin body. and a bit worse for wear.

3.6(Bottle, purchased at Ölbutikken, Copenhagen) Reddish brown colour, slightly hazy, with a frothy beige head. Fruity, malty nose with dried fruit, orange peel, marzipan, citrussy hops and hints of rubber or glue. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, orange peel, caramel, brown sugar, raisins in rum and generous doses of spicy hops in the finish. Medium to full body, fairly sweet. Rather vinous with a warming touch of alcohol. Nice Christmas beer (sampled on Easter Eve!)
3.4A bottle shared at Pikkulintu. Some apple and cinamion in the nose. Nice reddish colour. Fruity and berryish nose. Some raisin and honey in the taste. Some glue in the taste...
3.5Bottle. Slightly hazy dark amber with no head. Aroma is a touch stale at first - suggesting that maybe it wasnt a good idea to hold on to this bottle for a couple of years before opening it - but it soon opens up to a pleasant combo of brown sugar, rum-soaked raisins and warm alcohol. Medium bodied. Warm and sweet flavour, with notes of sourdough rye bread, toffee, brown sugar, raisins and prunes. Slightly vinous finish with a lot of boozy warmth. A little rough around the edges, but a pretty nice winter warmer.
3.1Bottled, at Sadonkorjuu, Porvoo. Amber to mahagony color. Sweet, raisiny, nutty and toffeish aroma with warming alcohol. Thick, sweet, worty, bready, toffeish, caramelly and raisiny flavor with sharp alcohol. Bittersweet finish. Too thick, worty and burning.
4.0(Bottle at Sadonkorjuu, Porvoo, on 2008-10-25) Amber. Hazy. Hardly any head. Malts and some raisin in nose. Full bodied palate with lot of carbonation. Malts, raisin, light bitterness and sweetness in taste. Some bitterness in otherwise sweet and malty aftertaste. Resemble a barley wine. Really fine beer.
4.1660ml bottle (bb.24/12-2010) (10% ABV) purchased at Ølbutikken and enjoyed for a long time at a hotel room in Copenhagen, early June. Dense, off-white head resting on top of a deep, dark brown body with a garnet tint. Spicy aroma with bittersweet components. Solid taste of dark fruits, almond, sweet dark malts, brown sugar and spices. Bitter ending. Vinous mouthfeel and full bodied. Ho, Ho, Ho - this is great stuff, which I might have rated even higher on a dark x-mas night (02.06.2008).
3.9Bottle. Pours a muddy amber/brown with a small off-white/beige/greyish head. Powerful aroma; notes of spices, candy and port wine in the vicinity of the glass. In the glass, it’s sweet fruits, caramel malts and well-balanced alcohol. Very nice. Flavour is complex; alcohol, sweet fruits, plums, notes of wood. Finish is slightly acidic with alcohol. Slight bitterness. Lingering apple notes. Not as good as the initial flavour, but still okay. 06-06-08.
3.9Hazy dark coloring pour w/ a tan head and some good lacing. Well spiced very sweet aroma. Some breads and lots of caramel, notes of alcohol almost port notes. Full well coated palate. Very sweet flavor lots of caramel some orange rind tons of alcohol.. probably too much... but nice.

Bottled
Much too alcoholic. Caramel malt and a solid bitterness
3.9Bottled at Coventry BF. Another smuggle in by Phil_L - cheers mate. A dark brown coloured beer with a sugary aroma. Some bready malts and creamy alcohol. The taste is malty with good alcohol notes. Some yeasety flavours. Good depth and great flavours.
3.9bottled, sample, many thanks to Phil_L for bringing this along, aged on Phils book case i understand. Chestnut colour with white head. Aged well, porty, fortified wine in character, loads of alcohol with a heady burn, sweetish in the body, toffee. Great stuff and much appreciated.
3.5[Vintage 2006, sampled christmas 2007]. Red-brown with a fine head. Very spicy aroma dominated by cinnamon and orange. The flavour is complex, again with a lot of spice (cardemomme?) and caramel.
