3.7 33 cl bottle. Hazy orange with frothy off-white head. Hoppy, mango and caramel aroma. Long bitterness with herbs and pine notes
3.3 Klar gyllen farve med lyst skum. Lukt av honning og humle. Smak av honning og humle. Fruktig. Tap @ Melkebaren.
4.0 330ml bottle from Drygate. Muddy reddish amber brown, big foamy head. Toffee hop aroma. Boiled sweet & biscuit flavour. Vanilla hop aftertaste. Very nice IPA.
3.5 Bottle at home. Pours slightly murky orange. Nose is resin, grass, floral, herbs, light sweetness. I cannot describe the nose well because I can only smell Sorachi Ace. Taste is still Sorachi but less than in aroma, resinous hops, caramel malts, decent sweetness.
3.2 Draft at Mikkeller Bar in Seoul. Medium deep amber colour and thin head. Citrus aroma of lemon and pine. Some hop-bitter at start, light body and citrus tastes. Finishes piney flavour of the Sorachi Ace. Overall, I can’t feel the balance so well for IPA, too malty.
3.4 Lukt: Citrus og honning. Utseende: Dunkel gulbrun farge. Skum/kullsyre: Dekkende skum, heng langs kant. Smak: Citrus med en fin honning avslutning. Hvor: Kjøpt@Melkebaren, Sandnes, Nydt@Melkebaren tasting med Gorm. Medium: Tapp@100ml, ABV@6,9%, Når@29.06.2015
3.6 Old rating rerated 13.06.2015, 0,33l bottle @ home: Big creamy longlasting head. Aroma is mild sour-ish grassy, (sorachi) hops, weeds, pineapple, mold, grass, coconut, citrus peel, bark, moss. Taste is sour-ish grassy, (sorachi) hops, citrus peel, minerals, grass, bark, moss, old cellar, minerals, sap, alcohol. Medium bitterness, slightly boozy mouthfeel. Nice.
3.3 Malzig hopfiger Antrunk, fruchtig. Rund herb, heuartiger Hopfen. Süße süffige Hopfennoten im Mittelteil, steigende Alkoholigkeit. Intensiv bleibend, dennoch süffig. 9/11/10/12/7/11
3.2 Bottle. Dark golden, hazy, small to average and mostly diminishing head. Moderate, malty and lightly sweetish - sweetish aroma, light caramel and some tropical - light floral fruitiness with some notes of dill, some citrus - light grapefruit hoppyness. Body is medium, malty and lightly sweetish flavor, some caramel and tropical fruitiness with some notes of dill, some citrus - grapefruit hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish, light caramel and some tropical fruitiness with notes of dill, some citrus hoppyness. Way too much dill in the finish. Curiosity - not enjoyable.
3.1 Orange color with big white head. Aroma is a bit of grapefruit, then the dill. Taste is dry and bitter, dill finish. Straightforward Sorachi Ace. A bit creamy.
4.2 draught@Erzbierschof Krone - hazy reddish-brown with a creamy persistent beige foam; hoppy aroma of coconut and grapefruit; notes of grapes too; clean, rounded and full-bodied; assertive and fairly bitter; quite dry, long resiney hoppy finish with more notes of grapefruit, coconut and mango - beautiful
3.4 330ml bottle from The Beerhive. Big bubbly off white head, good lacing. Body is hazy reddish amber. Nose is a bit vegetal, grass and sweet bubblegum. Flavour is sherbet lemon, grass, bubblegum finish. Light carbonation, mouthfeel is full, a bit oily. Not quite the Sorachi Ace I remember from Brooklyn’s effort.
3.5 Bottle to Sam Adams Boston Lager tulip sorta deal, beer pours an odd sorta dark yellow amber orangey color with a yellowish white head. Strange. It’s cloudy as well. Aroma is dill pickle, pine, citrus and somewhat floral with some malt and caramel in the background. Flavour is vegetal and dill pickle with a nice dose of grass. Malt is there but faint with biscuit and cracker being most up front. There’s lots of familiar flavours and different ones too. Beer is palatable and refreshing, co2 medium, balance is bitter biased. Overall...interesting but I can’t see myself ever using this hop in a homebrew...it’s too weird.
3.5 330ml bottle from Mikkeller webshop. Orange amber colour, frothy white foam head and aroma of bubblegum, woody, vanilla. Taste is malt caramel, grainy with herbal, spice notes and grassy, woody bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, woody bitter finish. Interesting, quite drinkable.
3.9 Tap. Pours slight hazy dark amber with small thick and creamy white head. Aroma is packed with fresh spicy hops. The dill stands out. Grapefruit, slight pine, some caramel malt and slight coco. Taste is spicy dill and sweet coconut finish! Fruity hops, grape, malty sweet backbone. Finish is dry with hoppy bitterness and has a minty touch. Medium to full body for style and oily hops. Really complex for a single hop! One of the best iv’e had.
3.9 Tap @ fermentoren. Pours hazy amber with a white head. Aroma is pretty herb-like hop forward with notes of classic pine notes, dill, fresh hops, caramel, citrus fruits and some malty notes. The taste is pretty fresh and bitter with notes of herbal hops, weak dill, caramel, citrus fruits and a weak eucalyptus note as well. pretty smooth and drinkable. Interesting hop.
3.6 33 cl. bottle, poured in to a Tulip. B.B.E. Feb. 17 - does not look retired to me. Hazy amber colour with a golden tint. Dense, creamy off-white head. Fruity aroma with caramel malts, lemons, coconuts and herbal notes. Distinct Sorachi Ace. Taste is bitter. Medium body with a creamy texture and a an average carbonation. Finishes dry and bitter with lingering c.itrus fruits. Lovely single hop IPA.
3.3 Bottle at home. Pours a hazy amber with off-white head. Flavor is sweet and bitter, l, fruits, grass, grapefruit and vanilla(Something?). Finish is lingering grapefruit and pine bitter.
2.7 From tap at Fermentoren/Aarhus. I don’t know if this was simply not a fresh batch, but what a dissapointment. Some citrussy and grassy notes but other thatn that almost nothing interesting to notice. Of course it did not help that it was served way to cold, but anyways this simply did not do the trick for me.
3.6 Tap@Fermentoren, Aarhus. Hazy dark amber, small offwhite head. Complex aroma, orange, green grapes, caramel, herbal. Flavour is grassy, has orange and vanilla. Nice.
3.8 Tap @ Fermentoren. Pours dark hazy orange with a medium white head. Aromas of grassy hops, citrus, ripe orange, some malts, light dill. Taste is lots of dill, ripe orange, malts, citrus, some hops.
4.1 Tap at Fermentoren Aarhus. Pours an orange amber with a small, white, dense head. Aroma has a lot going on, sweet bourbon-like vanilla, herbs, dill, caramel, sorachi ace hops, malty backbone, mint. Taste has some hoppy bitterness up front, but also a complex mix of the dill spicyness and the bourbon-like sweetness. Ends off very smooth and sweet. Really complex beer for being a single hop ipa! Love this hop!
3.1 bottle at a bar, poured a murky amber colour with a white head. lot of malts in the nose, caramel, small hint of pines, grass, flowers, some bitter grapefruit and citrus, recognize the sorachi, but have seen beers that are brewed better with the use of this hop, kind of a murky mouthfeel, but maybe it’s because it’s just a bit to old. nobody will know
3.5 0,33L bottle, BB 03.06.2015. Pours amber with off-white head. The head stays for a long time. Aroma is malt, caramel, herbal, citrus. Flavor is sweet and bitter, caramel, fruits, grass, citrus, grapefruit. Finish is lingering grapefruit and pine bitter. Overall: doesn’t have a lot of typical sorachi ace character (which I like), but maybe this is because the bottle isn’t very fresh. Still it is a solid IPA.
3.5 Aroma: Buttery, fresh-cut wood, almost bourbon barrel but more subtle (next day I got light vanilla and wood, a good "soapy" floral, buttery character). Palate: Flavor: Buttery, woody, almost vanilla bourbon character, less sweet, moderately roasted caramel with balanced malt and woody finish. Comment: Interesting stuff. I’ve had around 4 beers that feature Sorachi Ace hops and this may be the most intense version. A really unusual hop.
3.4 Riempie la bocca dell’aroma tipico del Sorachi ma nonostante ciò risulta leggermente indistinguibile dopo qualche sorso, gusto che definirei burroso ma birra molto utile per isolare e comprendere questo luppolo giapponese!
3.8 Bottle from Voldby. Pours amber with a beige head. Aroma of sorachi hops. Bittersweet taste of tropical fruits, hops, caramel notes, grape. Soft carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel. Slight long botter finish.
