Mikkeller Single Hop Tomahawk IPA

Mikkeller Single Hop Tomahawk IPA

English: Tomahawk is a great American hop variety, high alpha acid content and plenty of floral impression.

This Single Hop IPA is a very powerful fellow who will probably scare off more people than he amuses but for a true hop head looking for a bitter experience this is nothing less than heavenly.

Ingredients : Water, malts (pilsner, cara-crystal and munich), hops (tomahawk) and yeast.

4.3 Fat @ Cerveseria Arte&Sana, Malaga.
3.7 Nice and drinkable. To high bitterness level and a little low in hop flavour for my taste.
4.1 Bottle. Gold-amber color with a very good foam. Aroma: many citrus and passion fruit, mango and other fruits, a little pine. Taste: candy, milk toffee and tropical fruits, some pine bitterness, very good singlehop.
2.8 [4/26/15] Draught at Mikkeller Bar in Stockholm. Murky amber. Aroma of woody spicy hops, kinda leafy. Flavor of spicy, woody and leafy hops, some sweetness, and a bitter finish. Medium-bodied.
3.6 Bottle. Pours is hazy, dark orange to amber with bit persistent white head. Aroma of grapefruit, grapes, resin, light caramel amd floral. Taste is medium bitter, grapefruity with light acidic, not much sweetness. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carb. A good, decent one, but not my favourite hop I guess.
2.8 Flaska från Mikkeller Webshop. Dimmig mörk bärnsten med ett praktfullt vitt skum. Mycket blomster och citrus i doften. Ganska platt i smaken, tar ingen plats. Saknar kropp.
3.4 Hazy, greasy amber with a filmy white head and slight lacing. Greasy, brassy bitter nose. Worn clipboard combo of greasy wood and metal. Initial taste taste is gritty, woodchip walkway tangerine and a decent bitterness. Chewy, gritty mouthfeel and easy going carbonation. Finishes angular raw orange with more musty spicy hop and linger is swift peachy orange and light lacing spicy. Keg, Brewdog Manchester
4.1 Bonne ipa. Le houblon tomahoawk n’est pas ultra expressif mais bière très buvable quand même! AaaaaaaaaaaaAaaaa
3.5 Bottle from Plovmand, thanks! Citrusy, floral, light malty, light anise. An icy-mineral note in the moderately bitter finish. Not really full of flavour, initially even slightly boring. But it grew on me and I tsarted to dig its balance and softness. Very good brew.
3.8 Bottle, 330 ml from Za Popen’t, Ljubljana. Pours hazy orange with off-white head. Fruity aroma, bit piney as well. Malty caramel and fruity flavor with dry bitter finish.
3.9 Bottle at home. Hazy orange pour, creamy off-white head. Aroma of floral hops, fruity, pine, resin and some citrus. Flavor is spicy bitter hops, fruity and with a solid malty body. Decent body, a little on the bitter side. Still lovely IPA.
3.7 Aroma has raisins and floral hops. Pours hazy amber, minimal head, some lacing. Taste has grapefruit peel, pine and bready malts. Medium body, medium carbonation.
3.4 Bottle @ DØE meeting. Pours golden with a small offwhite head. Aroma of malt, grass, spice, light spruce notes. Flavor is malt, caramel, grass, light spice, grapes, spruce. Medium body, average carbonation, light bitter finish. Not fresh, but still drinkable. 191114
3.3 shared bottle at a bar. poured a amber colour with a white head. compared to the nelson sauvign this one has a real dominating spiced smell. small sweet hint of peach, citrus, earth hops, pine, caramel, with that spice finish. medium carbonated. not my kind of hops
3.8 Bottle at LogLog. Pours deep golden/bit reddish color, white head. Aroma of orange, tangerines, floral hops. Taste is bitter, lightly sweet, hoppy, grapefruit peel. Dry hoppy finish.
3.5 "1st release? seems like higher ibu but i didn’t write it down. plenty of citrus peel and pine in the aroma. a little less so in the flavor, but still yummy. i enjoyed this one
3.5 Almost sessionable ipa. Very drinkable Balanced good hoppiness. Fresh at craft.
4.0 25cl on tap @ Csak a Jó Sör, Budapest. Slightly hazy orange-amber body, medium creamy beige mostly lasting excellent lacing head. Nose is light citrus, aroma is, caramel, hint of honey, grass quinine, more and more hops. Taste light sweetness, heavy bitterness. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, average to long lasting medium hoppy bitter, slightly salty finish. Quite easy to drink, quite refreshing.
3.7 BOTTLE 33CL from ivodoni1. Thanks! Look: hazy amber red, light tan frothy to creamy head. Aroma: very fruity, sweet fruit (bun not tropical) or fruit marmalade, some herbal freshness the like of mint, and also a strong herbal note in the background. Hefty malt backbone. Taste: caramel, quince marmalade sweetness, zesty/spicy hop bitterness.
4.6 Great beer. As an american currently living in budapest, this is the best IPA I’ve found yet. Had it on tap (twice), and in a bottle at home. The pour is cloudy with a color between deep orange and amber. The head is off white. aroma is powerfully fruity and hoppy. Hops and citrus up front, delightfully mild bitterness after the swallow. A must drink.
3.9 from tap. aroma is fruit, hops, malt and citrus. Fresh and bitter, but not too bitter. grapefruit and pine detected. Very good.
3.9 13/VII/14 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker) @ home - BB: 26/2/16 (2014-810) Clear deep orange beer, big creamy off-white to yellow head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: some citrus, grassy, bit floral, soapy touch, ripe peaches, some mango, bit sugary, caramel. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty sourish start, peaches, caramel, malty, grains, bit sweet, nice bitterness, fruity touch, some orange. Aftertaste: fruity, bit grassy, sweet, piny bitterness, sour, some citrus, bit of caramel, resinous and pretty bitter ending.
4.2 Tomahawk version, with a very rocky, off-white head and deep cloudy, warm amber colour. Aroma of grapefruit, gentian, tonic water, peach, grass, strawberry, orange peel. Fruity taste with some citrus and some caramel, but that is just the vehicle for a very intense and agressive, extremely bitter hoppiness, peppery and citrussy, tonic water-like, astringent and dry, very long. The most extreme one in this series, at least of the ones I tasted, a real treat for hopheads. What an interesting series this was, a real school for those wanting to learn how to distinguish the essential hop varieties. And an excellent IPA, of course.
3.8 Bottle from Voldby. Pours amber with an off-white head. Good bitter taste of hops, citrus, fruits, caramel notes, spices. Soft carbonation. Nice bitter finish.
3.0 Draft to taster at Ei8ht Ball. Looks solid; a slightly hazy golden orange with off-white lacing. Smells sweet and sticky followed by hops. Some citrus, but it’s overshadowed by the malt. Tastes like it smells with an average (at best) mouthfeel that’s on the fuller side for the style. Another underwhelming Mikkeler malt bomb IPA.
3.9 Bottle from drinkshop.sk. Deep orange colored beer with thick persistent off-white head. Fruity hoppy aroma. Solid malty base followed by fruity hops. Long hoppy bitter finish. Pleasant bitter IPA
Polecam.
3.7 Bottle at home. Pours copper, nose is fruity, taste is juicy pine, quite bitter.
3.8 Bottle. Hazy dark amber pour with offwhite head. Aroma is floral with underlying malty base. Nice and fresh. Taste has instant bitterness. Oily texture.
3.8 Bottle 33cl. Cream white head settling. Hazy peach wine color. Aroma is raspberries, roses, homey, tea. Taste is hops, berries, heather, spruce shoots.
