3.5 Chopp at Mikkeler Tórshavn. Hazy, deep dark red colour, wsmall white head. Nice fruity tart with a little beetroot to it. Flavour: Fruity tart sour nicely funky but really I can not get the beetroot except from thinking of it and then....
3.6 11-APR-2019, bottle @SAS Flight to Chicago with Marianne :-) Slightly hazy red (beetroot colour :-)) with no head. Aroma is berry... Is that raspberry? No, I know it is beetroot but it comes out much "berry'er" and bright. Faint earthy notes gives away the beetroot. Taste is the same. Low bitterness, tart, lively carbonation. OK body for the style.
2.7 On tap at polyhistor. Clear pink colour, small pink head. Nose is sour beetroot. Taste is lambic. Some acetic notes.
3.7 Kwas buraczany, w Polsce powinno mieć wzięcie. Dobre i nawet nie takie dziwaczne. Haruki Burakami też to pije. Maruki Hurakami. Pomruki Zharkami. Czy jakoś tak.
3.7 Rami Rami is drinking a Spontanbeetroot by Mikkeller at Kufle i Kapsle Pewnie bym nie zgadl, ze to burak, bo skrzyzowany z czerwona porzeczka ;) malo dosc dzikosci a mocno kwasne, mi nie do konca, ale ciekawe
3.9 On tap at Mikkeller Odense. Hazy, clear red with a small white head. Good funky aroma with leather, hay and grapefruit, along with a tiny, earthy note of beetroot. Tart, funky flavour with just a hint of beetroot. Seems to me it's a better, more complex lambic character than other Spontanales.
4.3 Starker saurer Antrunk mit fruchtigen Noten, die eher an Kirsche als an rote Beete erinnern. Angenehmer, sehr trockener Hintergrund, würzig, die Fruchtigkeit steigt an. Leicht holziger Hintergrund, Grapefruit, leicht hefig. Lecker! 10/13/12/13/9/13
4.0 On tap at Mikkeller tap takeover, Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours clear bright red with pink head. Aroma of horse stable, leather, lemon. Taste very sour, quite some grapefruit bitterness in the finish, very dry. Slightly astringent.
3.3 On tap at Cardinal, Mikkeller tap takeover. Clear red colour, pink head. Sourish fruity aroma, notes of lemons, beetroot and farmhouse, hints of spices. Very sour flavour, notes of lemons, beetroot and lactic acid, tart and dry finish.
4.0 375 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 6/16/2026. Pours slightly hazy reddish/orange, light pink/purple color with a 1-2 finger dense light pink head good retention; that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tart/sour cherry, raspberry, blackberry, plum, earthy beetroot, lemon, lime, green apple, red grape, oak, hay, straw, herbal, grass, wheat, and cracker; with light leathery/musty funk, peppercorn, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, beetroot, oak, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tart/sour cherry, raspberry, blackberry, plum, earthy beetroot, lemon, lime, green apple, red grape, oak, hay, straw, herbal, grass, wheat, and cracker; with light leathery/musty funk, peppercorn, and yeast/oak earthiness. Slight oaken vanilla. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness and light yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart cherry, berries, plum, earthy beetroot, lemon, lime, green apple, red grape, oak, hay, straw, herbal, grass, wheat, cracker, leathery/musty funk, pepper, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, beetroot, oak, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/tartness balance, and zero puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tart/spiciness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately grainy/acidic/tannic, and fairly crisp balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7.7%. Overall this is an excellent vegetable lambic. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, beetroot, oak, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink with the modestly lactic/tannic/drying finish. Very well rounded Brett complexity, with nice showcase of the beetroot. Nice oak and solid malt presence. Not a ton of Lacto, but about middle of the road for the series on overall acidity. A very enjoyable offering.
3.8 On tap at Cafe Sara, august 27th 2016. Semihazy red body with a small pink head. Aroma is sour with barnyard, vineous. Taste is lactid, funky, red berries and beetroot, mild bitterness. Fresh sour finish, quite enjoyable.
4.0 Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. Botwinka w aromacie, w smaku - dobry, wytrawny kriek :)
3.7 Segunda del Club de Cata Olut. Lambica de nariz, poca acidez en boca. Sin adivinar que era remolacha
3.4 Shared bottle at Olut Sabadell. Dark cider red with clear head. Lightly carbonated. Lactic, vinegar and cherry aromas. Noble taste, not too sour or vinegarish, astringent end.
3.6 Shared bottle @OlutSabadell. Pours red. Lambic aroma, light sourness in mouth.
4.0 On tap at Pudel, Tallinn. Clear deep red with a large, pink head. Nice lambic aroma, some barnyard and light notes of fruits and vegetables, not so easy to recognise the beetroot specifically, but it works. Sour, refreshing and surprisingly drinkable.
4.1 Dark red, small but lasting pink head. Dark sweet aroma like a kriek but deeper. Properly sour, developed. Quite frankly it is just very greatly tasting. But pricy (though I got it at a very fine deal) but I very much liked this. (375ml bottle from Convento)
4.0 Tap at Dva Dve. Red color with medium pinkish head. Aroma of beer, beetroot. Sour taste, with beetroot, light sourness. Tasty.
3.6 On tap at DvaDve, Košice. Pours red color, pinky head. Aroma is sourish, bret. Taste is sour, bret, really nice touch of beetroot.
4.0 Bottle. Pours a hazed ruby with a medium sized white head. Bright acid and soft musk. Medium bodied, earthy with a good amount of funk and acid. Long farmhouse notes. Quite nice.
3.7 On tap at El Bait Shop. Clear ruby red appearance with minimal head. Earthy, fruity, funky, woody, mildly sweet and lightly tart. Soft, thin feel with a light dry finish. Pretty interesting overall.
3.5 Appearance: lightly hazy ruby red with one finger of fizzy purple head diminishing rapidly to nothing, no lacing. (3/5) Aroma: beet, cherry, wet hay funk, earthy, woody. (7/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, moderate tart, light funk, non-existent bitter. (7/10) Palate: medium-light body, prickly carbonation, dry moderate tart and lightly funky finish. (4/5) Mmmm… beety. Yeah, this is just about as weird as it sounds. Initially, earthy beet notes dominate, but that gradually fades (perhaps as I acclimatize to it?) and more traditional (if that word can be applied to anything Mikkeller does) “spontan” character asserts. (14/20)
3.7 Clear red with a small pale head. Aroma is sour cherry, hints of wine and beetroot. Light bodied, tart on the palate with a hint of sweetness. Taste is beets, hints of red fruits and grapes.
3.8 7.7%ABV. Lambic. Tapped out red. Nose is chracteristically "spontan": manure, wet hay, animal, barnyard and wet dog. Mouthfeel is juicy and tart. Palate has good malt body with biscuits and white bread. This iteration has nice earthy flavor notes. Finish is clean and lightly fruity.
3.8 Bottle poured into a teku. The beer is a deep red with a pink head of foam. Aroma is funky and herbal. Earthy acidity. Medium body and medium carbonation. Don’t get much beet. Perhaps that’s for the best.
3.5 On tap at The Local, Athens, Greece, 10.12.16. Dark purple-red. Sour borscht aroma with brett. Extremely sour, but finish is abrupt. Full body, rather bitter, woodsy and dry finish.
3.7 On tap at Mikkeller Bar SF. Pours beet red with a pretty ink head and a strange vegetable aroma. There is a weird wour wine-like flavor with some sweetness and a very dry finish that stays on the palate. Not particularly tasty, but quite interesting.
3.9 On tap at Pudel bar. Transparrent beutiful bordeux red colour. Thin, pinkish line of froth on top. Slightl spicyness, slight sweetness, vinegar, acidity, hints of wine in the aroma. Maybe some herbs, cardemom or cinnamon also. Acidic, funky beginning, sour, acidic in the middle. Some sweetness from beetroot probably. Dry finish. Hints of red wine and tannins in the aftertaste. Hints of berries also. Acidic to spicy, bit dry palate. Rather medium bodied, medium carbonated, well balanced experimental lambic beer. If the beetroot add something, when it is the specific sweetness. Otherwise it is just a very nice lambic.
3.2 Tap. Ruby red beer, small pink head. Nose is fruity, wild ale-y, tart notes and caramel, slightly toasty. Flavor is tart, citrus, dry notes, less caramel but it’s there, fruity, tart and dry finish with a lingering woody acidity, lemons.
3.1 Tap. Deep ruby red color. Small size, pink head, stays as a ring. Sweet, acidic, sour, some fruitiness in aroma. Acidic, sour, dry hops, wheaty in taste. Acidic dry hay in aftertaste. Some caramel in late late aftertaste. Drinkable brew.
