4.1How: Bottle (375 ml). Split 2-ways.
>>> Superb well balanced and funky cranberry sour. One of the best from the spontan series and definitely the best cranberry beer I have had so far.
+ The beer is a beautiful bright orangey-red color but the head isn’t staying much
+ There’s nice bright funk, especially in the nose, cheesy and mineral
+ Acidity level is perfect, enough to carry the flavor properly and a give a good bite, but not overpowering
+ The cranberry flavor is there aplenty but without the weird astringent notes
Flavors: Cranberies, nice funk, cheesy notes, mineral, vegetal (mild)
3.9Bottle shared with Tom. Clear pale reddish pour with copper hue, thin but tenacious veil of white foam. Aroma is quite fruity, lots of cranberry, lots of lemon juice, mild cheesy notes, mineral, nice funk, winey notes. Taste is bitter and tart, bright acidity, very lemony, sharp fruitiness, very bright fruit, quite tasty. Palate is med bodied, strong carbonation, very dry finish. Tasty stuff, maybe a tad acidic for ultimate enjoyability.
3.8Bottle. Pours light red pink head. Nose and taste of oak, sour funk, dirty earthy cranberry and sour malt - medium body.
4.0Aroma of tart cranberries, oak, barnyard funk, vinegar, fruits. Flavour is nicely sour with a hint of sweetness. Lovely, delicious stuff. Another winner in the "Spontan" series.
3.9Pours a clear reddish copper with a small white head that leaves really nice lacing. Nose is of pretty intense bandaid at first but after a while it mellows into cranberries and, light funk and oak. Taste is sour and lightly puckering with some nice fruity and acidic cranberries and oak again. Really refreshing. Never harsh and the lambic character is dialed-in just right. Lightly lemony. Body is light, carbonation moderate and this would pair well with some blasting sun. Overall a solid Spontan, if only all were like this one!
3.8Bottle. Pouts with no real head, hazy ruby punch pink color. Wood, leather, slight berry pit, and a touch sour aroma. Flavor is more woody, vinegar sour, light leather, slight grain and hay, missing the cranberry fruit, a touch earthy and a yogurt tangy finish. Light fairly still body.
3.6Keg at Electricity Showrooms. Very muddy dark ruby. Light red fruity barnyard. Medium tartness but not very sour at all. Some lemon. The least sour of this series for me. Nice zippy palate. Decent but not great.
4.0Bottled. Orangeish pink colour with a small white head. Aroma is sour wood, with some berries, mild wood as well as some earthy and herbal notes. Flavour is rather tart and sour wood along with some berries, mild toffee, alcohol and herbal notes. Wellbalanced and pleasant to drink.
3.7Bottle. Hazy red amber in color with an off-white head. There’s a fairly good amount of sour red berries and funky notes in aroma. Dreaming in red. Not forget the lemony and oaky notes that are there as well. The taste is quite sour as well from all the red berries. Dry and sour with a sweet twist in the end. Nice one.
4.1Bottle, shared by me... in my dining room... just now.
Pours a beautiful red color with a champagne rise and fall head.
The aroma is really nice, funky with some barnyard, some wet hay, wet wool. & some lemon. The fruitiness here is spot on, not sweet... but very forward, bright, but working well alongside the other aspects of the bouquet. This smells like a cranberry lambic through and through.
The flavor is actually pretty sour, there is way more lemon character than cranberry, although the tart cranberry flavor is always in the background. Very tart, a little leathery, with some citrus rind and yogurt. As it warms it get’s a little fruitier, & takes on a sort of woody/cork-y thing, that’s nice.
Easily one of my favorites of the series.
4.0Pours semi clear copper with a large foamy off white head. Aromas of cranberries, cherries, vanilla, roasted notes from the barrel. Taste is cranberry, cherries, funk, vanilla, roasted notes. Moirhfeel is dry and very sprightly. Very very good!
3.8Pours cloudy copper with massive yellowish white head. Aroma of bretta, cherries, cranberry, light red wine barrels. Taste is big sour fruit tart with very light oaky sweet. Body is light and crisp with average carbonation.
4.1Bottle; 33cl; poured at home for Gabriel Zombier’s birthday. A nice white foam above a clear-ish red-orange texture. Very nice on the eye. Aroma is gain; sugar; cranberry, marzipan, hey and fresh dough. Taste is cranberries; tart; sharp acid; lemon curd; wood; some earthy notes and bubblegum. A very nice sour and one I’d like to have again. Cranberries work exceptionally well in a sour. Top stuff.
3.5Bottle shared at chriso’s winter tasting 7/12/2014. Orange pinky red coloured pour with a halo of white head. Aroma is tart berry, cranberry, plastic phenol, and horsey funk. Flavour is uber tart sharp grapefruit, cranberry, Palate is really sharp tart fruit, tart funk. Interesting

3.4Syrlig geuse. Tranebær ikke tydelig men syren har vundet kampen.. en geuze der er meget tydelig bitter
3.3Ret vild mælkebakterieduft. Ret vild syrlighed. Meget tør. Ikke rigtig tranebærsmag. Heftig lambic. Mangler lidt særkende.

4.124/V/14 - 37.5cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ Procrastinated Spontan Gent Tasting - BB: 9/V/23 (2014-550)
Clear pale cardinal red beer, huge yellowish head, aery bit light pinkish head, bit stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: lots of raspberries, raspberry jam. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: very sour, lots of raspberry jam, citric acidity, lemon juice, fruity, very nice. Aftertaste: citric, very acidic, some raspberries. Well, I guess cranberries on lambik taste like raspberries. :p
4.6Courtesy of and thanks to tderoeck. 375 ml. bottle sampled @ “Procrastinated Spontaneity /…………/ 2 Boekjes” tasting @ Gent. Pours a dark ruby orange with a pink head. Nose is full of nicely tart cranberry juice, very fruity, acidity, touch lemon & faint herbs. Light bitter oak upfront, very fruity, lots of cranberry leading into nice cranberry acidity, fruit skins, light brett, lovely togetherness, drop of vinegar. Very unified, lovely taste. Touch higher carbonation which works wonderfully for the beer. Delciious.
3.7Bottle. Red orange colour with large pink head. Strong sour cranberry aroma. Flavor is very acidic with cranberry notes and a hint of wood. Very sour and dry finish.
3.1Mild red small sticky head. Lots of cough syrup nose, woody oak, grape soda. Tastes like the organic cranberry juice, unfiltered. Would go great on ice with some vodka
3.7Bottle to pint glass
Aroma of lemon, heather, bubble gum, a littel ginger and cranberry. It pours a cloudy reddish amber with a 1 cm frothy but mottled off white head. Taste is cranberry, lemon, brett, apple, with a little late sweet fruit.
3.2Golden with a white head - Sour aroma - Sour berry taste with some malts as well - Lasting sour finish that has some berries to it - This was nice
3.8Bottle. Really sour. A bit more than the hindbær cousin on tap. Great and really complex aroma though.
3.7Botella de 37 cl en el Lupulo. 30-08-13. Sabores dulces y ácidos a la vez. Alucinante, con una sensación alcohólica pronunciada. Gusto ácido y toque amargo final unidos perfectamente y bastante largos. Cuerpo ligero con bastante gas y espuma blanca persistente. Color ambar miel algo turbio. Muy original y con carácter, para repetir sin problema.
3.9Bottle. Pours mostly clear red with a huge bubbly pinkish head. The aroma has lots of cranberry notes, acid, grapefruit peel and green pepper corn. The flavor is loads of fresh unripe berries with woody sour notes and lots of grapefruit peel. Very nice!
3.4355 ml bottle @ home. Color is light red with a fairly big white head which leaves lacings on the glass. Aroma is very sour with hints of grapes. Taste is very sour upfront then the taste of cranberry kicks in. Great finish with lots of cranberry and grapes.
