Mikkeller / Three Floyds Majsgoop

Mikkeller / Three Floyds Majsgoop

The fifth beer made with our brew buddies, Three Floyds. A big and ballsy, tasty Barley wine following the same path as the previous “Goops” made available. This time with corn taking over the throne.

3.4 Aromat raczej ubogi, trochę chmielowych ziół, też coś jakby ciasteczka maślane. W smaku powiedziałbym bardziej że to jakaś double ipa. Mocne zioła z chmielu, może trochę figi, goryczka solidna. Smaczne ale niczym nie porwało.
3.5 November 20, 2015 - with blankboy, jercraigs and mabel - 750ml bottle. Cloudy orange with a small white head. Smells like a old DIPA - alcohol, fruit, dry yeast - a little tart. Taste follows - a thinned-out still boozy tart tropical fruit DIPA - some marigold; oddly awesome for all that. Slick, still, astringent with a medium boozy finish - this would have kicked serious butt fresh.
3.3 750ml bottle (thanks FatPhil). Slightly hazy golden amber color. Small size, bubbly beige head, stays. Sweet, caramel, alcohol, fruity, citrus in aroma. Typical boozy and sweet American aroma. Caramel, malty, sweet, alcohol, citrus in taste. Caramel, citrus and booze in aftertaste. Medium bitterness. Solid brew.
3.1 750ml bottle (Sip, Tallinn) (6:4:6:3:12=3.1) Super-sweet caramelly aroma. Sticky palate. Big bitter malty taste. Alcohol sneaks into the back door, hiding under the trenchcoat on the shoulders of the hops sitting on the shoulders of the sweet malts. Finish boisterously hoppy and zesty.
3.1 75ml bottle shared by Phil, thanks! Hazy dark amber beer, smallish soapy white head. Nose is fruity, malts, citrus, sweet caramel. Flavor is warm and boozy, citrus, caramel, not getting corn though. Lingering booze and resin notes, same weird hard candy notes as the middle flavor. Not sure what to make of this one.
3.7 Keg @ BeerGeek Bar, vintage unknown. Hazy golden/amber, lasting white head, rich lacing. Huge sweet caramel, fudge, pine and resinous aroma, and sure if you try and know about it I can pick up a boild corn nib. Full-bodied, soft carbonation, velvety and dryish mouthfeel. Pine bitter and resinous taste, caramel, grapefruit and citrus zest. Bone dry bitter finish.
3.8 #1512 Tap. Hazy golden to amber body, medium white head. Rich flowery and fruity aroma with tones of cookies, candies, toasted malts. Taste is bitter with pleasant berry tartness, fruity. Full body, average carbonation. Very good.
3.9 Draught at BeerGeek Bar. Lightly cloudy, gold colored. AROMA- citrusy, tropical fruit, peach, sweet, alcohol. FLAVOR- lightly sweet, fruity, barley, alcohol. Fuller bodied. Very good.
3.6 Bottle 75cl, a cloudy copper orange beer with good head. Nose is a a massive dipa, lot of hop resin, orange and apricot notes. Taste is sweet and very bitter especially at the finish and on aftertaste. Aroma si on malt, caramel, bitter almond notes and a massive resinous and orange notes bit disappointed on the barley vine side, too hoppy.
3.0 URUS 3.0 Aroma: citrus, floral, apricot, cereal, spicy, herbal Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter, spicy, floral, herbal, apricot
3.2 Pite na URUSie. Pachnie amerykańskimi chmielami i czymś dziwnym - coś jak bretty czy belgia. W smaku iglaki, słodkość, leciutkie owoce wszystko niezbyt intensywnie. Na tą cenę to delikatnie rzecz ujmując przeciętniak, więc zmalau.
3.8 Very nice beer. Orange hazy color, white head. Nose of orange/grapefruit. Round body, notes of orange, american hops. Big bitter finish that lasts. Wouldn’t like more than 25cl of this, but very nice beer overall. TASTES A LOT MORE LIKE A TRIPLE IPA THAN A BARLEY WINE THOUGH
3.6 Bottle, shared at Magic Rock. Hazy gold. Thin, leggy, and slick looking. Nose has burnt caramel. Peppery hop. Some vine fruit. Taste is sweet and rich vine fruit. Some peppery twang. Medium to full body. A bit chewy. Long, baked stone fruit, bitter finish.
3.5 Bottle (from SIP). Pours amber with whiteish head. The head stays for a long time. Aroma is sweet, hoppy, grass, malt. Flavor is sweet and bitter, grass, citrus, malt, corn. Finish is dry-citric bitter with some sweetness. Not awfully boozy, but you can say it is high ABV. Overall: good.
3.5 Ridiculously profuse head, yellow orange hue, sensed rye with some hints of caramel. Very pungent smell and strong bitterish (but not overwhelmingly so) taste.
4.1 0,75 L. Bottle. Orange color with off-white head. Barley malt, fruit aroma. Sweet, hop, fruit, citrus. Bitter finish like IPA. I love it
3.9 Bottle @ Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki. Color hazy orange with small white head. Aroma fruits, malt, citrus, hoppy. Taste sweet, malt, fruits, hoppy.
4.0 750ml bottle. Hazy orange colour, creamy white foam head leaving lots of lacing and aroma of fruity citrus, spicy, grains. Taste is sweet, juicy citrus hop, some zest, spicy and boozy, with barley and dusty corn notes. Oily mouthfeel, sticky and full bodied, soft carbonation, dry earthy tangy finish. Nicely drinkable.
3.7 Bottle 75cl. @ Cervezorama 2.0, Madrid, Spain. A: Hazy amber. T: Malt, sweet, hops, resin, grapefruit.
4.0 Bottle; pours a cloudy orange gold with an egg shell colored head; fruity aroma with some hints of caramel and floral; taste is malty with caramel and fruits; dry finish has some bitterness with some alcohol warming
3.6 Bottle - pours golden white head - nose/taste of citrus, corny malt, orange peel - medium body
3.7 Bottle. Yellow pour with light head. Super sweet, booze is hidden well aromas. Flavors are malty, definitely sweet, corn maybe.
4.0 Bottle. First thing first, it’s ranked as a barley wine but it’s definitely an Imperial IPA. Medium malty, strong hope. Medium sweet and fizzy carbonation
3.7 Bottle at home. Hazy orange coloured with a medium sized off-white head. Fruity aroma of caramel, dried fruits, hops, resin and cookies. Fruity flavour of caramel, dried fruits and hops with notes of cookies. Hoppy finish.
3.9 Tap at Salon piva. Orange color, thick white head. Aroma of candies, tangerines, grapefruits, zest. Sweet taste, solid balanced, bit corny, zesty, tangerines. Good
3.8 10.4%ABV. Barleywine. Poured out a cloudy light rust. 10ºSRM. Nose has sweet ripe pineapple and has the sweetness of Valencia oranges. Mouthfeel is thick soap. Palate has fresh bread, barley bread, fresh biscuits. Hops are earthy, woody and with a sandalwood, incense type bitter. There is a perfume-like astringency. Finish is noble bitter and lingering on the back of the tongue. Overall a pretty complex ride. I appreciate the effort although overall it tasted like a well-provisioned imperial IPA to me. Goes on Favorites List!

4.2 P Bottle. Pours deep golden with a white frothy head. Aroma is quite hoppy; orange peel, lemongrass, grapefruit, honey and sugar. Nice palate, medium body and softly carbonated. Sweet finish. Flavour is mostly grapefruit, pine and some peach. Lovely, lovely.
