3.8750ml served in a snifter glass. Pours a cloudy orange color, forming a small and low persistent creamy white head that leaves some spotty and lingering lacings in the glass. Nose is sweet and fruity. Strong notes of peaches, raisins and caramel. Notes of grapefruit and orange zest. Becomes quickly bitter. Good bittersweet balance. Heavy body. Low carbonation. Bittersweet aftertaste. A mix of peaches with piny hops. A bit booze. Good drinkability. Not my favorite style but a good barleywine.
4.00,75 l. Bottle. Orange color with off- white head. Hop, fruit aroma. Sweet, fruity, citrusy and bitter taste with a hint of pine. Bitter finish.
3.1750ml bottle @ Matt’s. Pours a cloudy dark orange with thin white head. Nose is like an american barleywine, funky, malty, with a hoppy note. Flavour is boozy hot, bitter, while you can’t ignore the thick sweet body.
3.0Has a dull amber, with no head. This has a papery yeast note, and then a light fruit note, Sweet, slightly stale, and with a fair amount of alcohol. It’s just a mess, really.
2.8750mL bottle, pours a cloudy dark peachy orange with a small white head. Aroma is a bit cardboardy, with toasted malt, subdued caramel and rice. Flavour is pretty hot, with phenols, caramel, and toasted bready malt. Fairly light body, with a harsh alcoholic heat on the finish. Not the most refined of the Goop series. It’s decent.
3.7From tap at Skuli, Reykjavik. Hazy reddish orange, small white head. Aroma is barley, raisins, bread, some vanilla, some acetone when cold. Taste is bready, hoppy, raisins, quite sweet, caramelly. Almost full bodied, well covered alco, medium carbo. The warmer the sweeter it gets, nice barleywine!
4.0On tap at Vrteška 2016, Belgrade. Pours hazy dark orange, white head. Hoppy, tropical fruit, some pine, ripe fruit, apricot, quite sweet with lasting bitter finish. Full bodied, alcohol well hidden. DIPA meets barley wine. Liked it.
3.7On tap at Beertemple, Amsterdam. Semi-hazy orange pour with an off-white head. Notes of grains, brett bitterness and light funk, caramel, light spiciness. Might be an infected keg, but the touch of brett doesn’t go bad together with the bareywine.
3.9Bottle; pours hazy orangish with a white head; aroma of citrus, pine, and a hint of yeast; taste is also fruity with some caramel hints; finish is dry and bitter with a hint of pine
4.0Draught at BeerTemple, Amsterdam. Very thick and creamy, egg-white, dense but regular head over a lightly hazy orange blonde beer. Aroma of passion fruit juice, green olive, marmelade, moldy orange peel, rice pudding (maybe autosuggestion), dank marihuana, damp cloth, green chili peppers, lychee. Lively fruity onset, lots of mango, passion fruit, orange and pineapple, sweetness accentuated by residual white sugar, softish carbo, thick and full, smooth, oily mouthfeel. Slick grainy body, bit biscuity, the slickness probably coming from the rice but no other outspoken rice features are apparent; dank, grapefruity, aromatic hop finish, spiciness of green chili somewhere, warming peppery and gin-like alcohol. Rice is often used as a cheap substitute in (especially Asian) standard lagers, but every now and then a craft brewer tries to make a great beer with it and this mission is surely accomplished here, though honestly the rice factor is hidden in the background and this beer’s overall profile is best described as triple IPA-like, though less agressively hoppy. Whatever it is: rich, complex and highly enjoyable brew for sure.
3.7On tap at Chinaski Levapies, Madrid on 3-Dec-2016, and served in a snifter. Hazy orange amber colour with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma of caramel, molasses and fruit. Full body and soft/medium carbonation. Sweet and fruity flavour, with toffee and a sugary sweetness. Big alcohol buzz.
3.6On tap. Clear light orange color with tiny white head. Aroma - Malt, hops, caramel, citrus, dark fruit. Taste - Medium sweetness, medium bitterness, grapefruit, caramel, pine.
3.8On tap@: pours copper, slightly clear, with foamy off-white head. Aroma-flavor: toffee, candy sugar, tosted caramel, supported with citrusy -piny hop notes. Finish is slightly sticky, dry, bitter. Body is medium, texture soft, carbonation is moderate medium.
3.3Big and lasting beige head. Clowdy solid yellow color. Huge piny and rubber sulphur aroma. Piny hop taste and a firm bitterness. Nice malty taste with a tuch of caramell that just give a balanced taste and tiny sweetness.
3.6Tap at Salon piva. Golden color, thick white head. Aroma - wheat, nut, candies, caramel, floral notes. Taste is malty, caramely, decent hoppy, zesty, citrusy, warming alcohol
4.110.4%ABV. Rice barleywine.
Tapped out deep gold. 10ºSRM.
Nose is clean, light sweet. Hint of steamed rice cakes. At the end, there is a strong funky tang of molasses.
Mouthfeel is syrupy. Palate is sweet and light with toasted malt with taffy, malted milkshakes, honey and dates. Hops are resin and pine sap and a little earthy.
Overall, has a palate and taste profile so similar to 90 min IPA its a little creepy! So yes, for me this time on tap, it came across like an Imperial IPA with a full-bodied grain bill.
Goes on Favorites List!
3.9Bottle. Pours golden with a thick white head. Fabulous aroma of grapefruit, peach, lemon grass, caramel and toffee. Great palate, thick body, medium carbonation. The high alcohol is evident in the flavour, also Demerara sugar, pine, grapefruit. Long, bitter finish. Yum.

4.0Tap at CBFZ 2016. Sticky malts, that sweet flavour, the bitterness, caramel: Yes, it’s a barley wine. Smooth and little boozy, but not too much. Sip, sip, sip. Good.
4.3On tap at csakajosor. Hazy yellow colour good very pale yellow head. Nose is hoppy and sweet. Taste is medium sweetness well balanced with bitrerness. Candy like sweet aftertaste. Very nice.
4.1From tap at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki. Light hazy orange color with off white head. Malty and hoppy aroma, caramel, citrusy fruity - orange, dark dried fruits. Sweet and light bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.
3.5Bottle from Svijet piva (World of Beer), shared with Marko and Ogi. Murky ocher, frothy white head, lasting quite long. Aroma is alcohol and tropical fruits. Strong licorice flavor after a sip, sweet and alcoholic. Full body, strong, you can feel the alcohol. Lacks a distinct finish.
3.7750ml bottle from Gallagher’s Beer World/El Irlandés. Pours a cloudy orange-amber color with a small white frothy head that lasts for long. Aroma is very fruity with a fair amount of resinous hops. Notes are mainly of berries, cherries, tropical fruits and a bit of sweet citrus with en resin and spruce encompassing around. No rice notes at all despite its use as an ingredient. Nice. Taste is very sweet, intense and fruity. Some bitter hints can be felt for balance but it shows mostly flavors of red berries, peach, mango and other overripe fruits. Marmalade, sugars and esters. Some alcoholic kick gives it a true Barley Wine effect. Almost full bodied, carbonation is soft. Prolonged aftertaste. Another nice fruity Barley Wine that doesn’t push too far away from it’s similar sisters Bogoop and Majsgoop.
4.0Tap at Mikkeller bar. Delicious barley wine with quite a bit of sweetness, but also lovely flavours of peach, apple and mango. Pretty bitter, but not the most bitter of all. Powerful stuff, very nice
3.8On tap at Alus Celle Riga. Very sweet and malty, sticky, caramel, pear, bitter in the end, nice american style barley wine!
4.7750ml bottle shared in a snifter. Pours deep orange with a foamy white head. Aroma is grassy and citrusy hops with a slight malty presence. Taste is malty and hoppy with the hops being the slightly more powerful taste profile. A lingering bitterness.
4.1On tap at Mikkeller Bangkok. Pours hazy amber with a thin white head. Aroma of orange, pine, malt and mint. Sweet finish with underlying bitterness. More of a DIPA for me.
4.2I drank this after a few, so I can’t say I have very good notes on this. Either way, I remember a nice balance between sweetness and hop bitterness. Great fruity aroma, lots of tropical fruits and yeasty esters. Like a really good imperial IPA, but with a controlled bitterness. The alcohol was well hidden too. Delicious.
