Mill Street Belgian Wit

Mill Street Belgian Wit

Mill St Belgian style Wit is a refreshing beer made with a unique blend of ingredients. The soft texture and pale colour comes from the use of wheat. Coriander, orange peel and our special yeast produce the complexity and depth of fruity flavours contained within the glass. This beer is unfiltered. The resulting cloudiness gave rise to the term Wit, or White beer

2.9 Aroma of yeast, wheat, coriander, spices, etc. A very smooth and easy to drink beer, if not terribly original.
3.4 Scent of coriander, wheat malt, and spice. Cloudy gold colour. Spicy flavour with notes of citrus and caramel. Light body with medium carbonation. Quite pleasant.
3.1 330ml bottle. Grassy , white wine aroma taste malty character, bread, the distinct wheat taste.
3.5 Sampler Bottle into a chalice. Looks nice, not too orange and not too pale. Decent head quickly dissipates. Smells of coriander and yeast. Tastes of slight orange, coriander, and lots of yeast. I’m surprised by just how yeasty this is. Being described as a "Flavoured Wheat Beer" has me expecting the worst (Blue Moon anyone?), but for a North American wheat, this one is decent and I wouldn’t refuse it. Would not buy on its own, though.
3.3 Pours a light cloudy yellow, with a medium foamy head. Aroma notes include coriander, orange peel, and yeast. Tasting notes include more orange peel, tangy citrus, yeast, and coriander. A general run of the mill Belgian wit, not bad.
3.3 Bottle from the LCBO. Cloudy yellow with a small white head . Nose is cloves and yeast with a touch of lemon. Light sweet start quickly moving to a light spicy middle that ends a bit sooner than expected. Mouth is medium light with active carbonation.
3.3 Good looking wit, hazy yellow, white head. Aroma is coriander, some almost musty lemon. Very lemony taste, very mild coriander and spice. Very bright finish. Very clean beer. Pretty good.
3.3 Bottle from LCBO. Pours a hazy straw colour with a white head. Aroma is light cloves, lemon, light pepper, yeast... Light body. medium to full carbonation. Light bubblegum, light cloves, orange, a little pepper, some lemon... OK.
4.0 Aroma is what you’d expect with a Wit, banana, a touch of coriander, some lemon peel. Cloudy orange colour below a fizzy white head. Flavour has more lemon peel than the aroma and the spiciness comes forward more in the after taste as the beer finishes on the dry side. Wasn’t expecting much, but turned out quite pleasantly.
3.5 Pours a fairly clear straw colour, a slight murkiness. Head goes fast, no lacing. The taste is of crisp refreshing wheat and a good amount of citrus peel. Good Wit spiciness is present. Nice citrus mix here. The mouth feel is spritzy. One of the best Wits in Canada.
2.9 341 ml bottle from the Seasonal Sampler. Clear paler yellow, fading thin white foam. Milder aroma and taste of orange, yeast, coriander and wit spice. Softer than average carbonation, light bodied, low hopped, somewhat aqueous. Just okay. MLF (More Lagerboy Friendly)
3.7 341ml bottle. Pours a cloudy lemon yellow with a one finger white head. Belgian yeast, lemon, black pepper, and doughy notes on the nose. Nice carbonation, with far more crisp citrus than I was expecting, dough, and a light earthy black pepper note up front that leads into a spicy middle with an almost white grape note. Paraffin, and cloves in the finish. I’ll buy it again.
3.2 Pours a hazy lemon peel yellow with about 7 suds on top. Aroma is inviting, with a seductive sour banana come hither scent. The yeast & spicy make for a decent flavour profile. Starts off strong but the finishes drops off too abruptly & generally comes off a little weak. Overall it’s a tasty quaffer for a hot & humid day but let’s face it, this is more imitation than it is innovation.
3.3 Pours pale, hazy yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of tropical fruit and wheat. Coriander and yeast come on stronger in the taste. Quite nice.
3.7 On tap @ Corner Bar and Grill Ottawa. Pours a nearly clear gold (unusual for a wit) with a small white creamy head and plenty of effervescence. Aromas are slightly floral with a good punch of banana and spice. Despite the lighter look the taste is spot on what I would call a German wheat beer (banana/clove). Medium body, chalky, heavy carbonation, medium spicy finish. Nice beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy
3.2 Cloudy, brownish yellow pour. Sweet apricot nose mixed with some dry grass and bread dough. Powerful and bitter. Doesn’t seem very well balanced to me.
2.7 Pours a cloudy light gold. Head disappears very quickly and very low carbonation, kind of looks like apple juice. Aroma is of lemons. Tastes of spice, ripe oranges, and apples. Feels like drinking apple juice with a sweet aftertaste. Probably one of the lesser wits I have had.
3.1 341 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy, pale yellow colour with a small white head. Aroma of lemon, wheat and some spice. Light, sweet flavour with lemon, wheat, spice and a fairly dry finish. Medium body, oily texture and soft carbonation.
3.4 Aroma is clove, hay, citrus, wheat and slight malt sweetness. Taste is sweet with orange and coriander coming through immediately. Finishes smooth. Appearance is a cloudy gold with a pearl head that retains fairly well.
3.7 At the grape escape, pours a hazy orangish gold with a thick dense white head with good retention. Aroma of citrus oranges, coriander, spicy phenols and some light fruity esthers. Taste is orange, sweet malts, coriander, lemon and wheat. A nice well done wit with medium carbonation and good all around flavor.
2.3 Nice hazy straw color. Low white head that stuck around for a while. Decent example of the style. Was served on tap.
3.4 On tap at Toronto Pearson Airport. Pours hazy blond with low white head. Good lacing. Aroma is of citrus, spices. Taste is of citrus, spices, malt. Palate: Light body. Overall: Refreshing. Good.
3.3 341 ml bottle. Pours a hazy straw with a white head. Aroma is oranges, coriander. Flavor is oranges, wheat, peach, pear and coriander. Finish is slightly herbal, with lingering lemon notes. Light body, average carbonation. Refreshing.
3.5 On tap at Mill St. Brewpub Toronto. Pours a pale translucent yellow/orange with a white, one finger head that laces well. Aroma has big notes of citrus orange and spice. Taste is a bit bitter but balanced. Notes of orange rind and coriander with an aftertaste that lingers. Low-medium body with a medium carbonation. Slightly pulpy I’m the mouth but still fairly clean and refreshing. Overall tasty. Well worth a try. Would get again when I’m in the mood. Cheers!
2.6 Bottle received as an extra in a trade and shared in a Copenhagen hotel room. Thank you pushkinwow! Pours hazy pale golden with a small frothy white head that leaves a small sticky trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty and tiny phenolic with white bread, wheat crackers, dried flowers, lemon zest, yeasty dough, cloves, coriander and dry wood. Taste is tiny bitter, tiny sour and slightly phenolic with wheat crackers, wheat bread dough, lemon juice, cereal, cloves, coriander, pepper corns, wood, dry soil, lemon zest and hints of glue. Mouthfeel is crisp, tiny dry, tiny spicy astringent and light to medium bodied. Finish is bitter and tiny sour with wheat crackers, cloves, coriander, allspice, pepper corns, lemon juice, lemon zest and hints of white bread. Rather unimpressive. The sour doughy taste ruins it...
