Mill Street Coffee Porter

Mill Street Coffee Porter

Our porter is rich and robust, dark brown in colour with a dark roasted coffee nose, imparting an intense coffee flavour with notes of chocolate. Made with beans supplied by the Distillery District’s Balzac’s Coffee, this porter offers a rich, full and unique flavour. Currently, there are no other coffee-flavoured beers in the Ontario market.

3.8 Pours pitch black with very little head. The aroma has notes of coffee, chocolate, and dark roasted malt. Tasting notes include coffee, dark chocolate, and rich roasted malts. The body is full, and earthy. Nice porter!!
3.9 Definitely one of the best beers brewed by millstreet... Pours an opaque black with a frothy brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, light chocolate and nuts. Taste is roasted malts, coffee that blends together nicely and has a smooth bitterness into the finish. Excellent porter!
3.3 Pours a deep cola brown with no head or lacing. Nose is muted, coffee and roasted grain. Taste follows suit, mild bitter coffee and nutty malt. Body tends to the thin side, with low carbonation and a medium dry bitter finish. Not bad, but nothing thrilling - a moderate porter with a mild coffee edge. I was a little disappointed the airport brew pub didn’t have this on tap, but I have to assume they at least have decently new bottles of their own beer... Don’t I?
3.7 Rich aroma of dark roasted coffee and chocolate. Opaque deep brown colour with tints of red when held to the light. Heavy flavour of coffee as well as notes of dark chocolate with a medium bitterness. Full bodied without being to thick.
2.8 NIce notes of chocolate and coffee. Pours a dark brown. Minimal head.Sweet with very little bitterness to the finish. The coffee flavour is not as strong as I expected. So so beer. Not bad nut nothing really special.
3.1 Had a 6 pack many yrs back, then about 3 yrs ago in winter they sold single bottles with a different glass, bought this one don’t have glass no more. Got a mill street shirt and 2 vouchers off them to be used on 4 cans or a 6 pack @ beer store of there beer so picked this up and see no review so here go’s: Smell is cherry, chocolate and roastedness from bottle. Rostedness and chocolate from glass. 2 finger brown head. Black beer. Starts off wet, then disapers into chocolate that lingers around and then a roasted toasted coffee note with a little bitterness from the coffee. This time around the chocolate seems alot more notied then I can remember. Cheer’s. Good beer.
3.7 "Very nice super dark brown appearance. Smelling the coffee and roasted malts almost immediately. Head doesn’t really stay long. Taste is fairly strong, coffee, hints of chocolate, nuts, wow. Mouthfeel is of a spicy variety, or more like tingly on the inside. Pretty damn smooth going down. I love my coffee and my beer, and these go so well together. "
3.4 The aroma, while mild, is very pleasant dark coffee. Flavour is more coffee with malt and hints of vanilla and chocolate. Very clean, simple, tasty and easy drinking. I absolutely love the flavour, but I just wish there was more of it. Not very robust for a porter.
3.7 Bottle bought at the beer store A: chocolate, coffee App: pitch black small white head. T/p: full body with light acidic finish. O: good stuff pleasant like the malt bill
3.7 341 ml bottle. Pours black with a thin, yet resilient, beige head. Aroma is coffee, roasted cereal, red and blue grapes. Flavor is coffee, roasted grains, hints of smoke and is very dry. Finish is blueberry, grapes, dark coffee...not as bitter as I would’ve expected. Lingering roasted grains. Medium body, soft mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very decent.
3.7 341 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with full tan head. Aromas of roasted malts, dry chocolate and dried coffee. Flavors of weak coffee, nuts, and .roasted malts. Light and quaffable. A nice porter.
3.8 Bottle from the Beer Store. Pours black with a small dark tan head. Nose is coffee and chocolate and plums. Moderately sweet to start but coffee and chocolate bitterness create a nice dry finish. Medium creamy body and slightly soft carbonation; seems too light for a porter, but very tasty.
3.6 Bottle given by Ellen and Malcolm. Thanks! Pours very dark with short lasting tan head. Too much carbonation. Quite sweet at first before a nice dry finish with lots of coffee and a hint of chocolate. Nice.
3.4 Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks kerenmk. Pours brown to black with a beige head, aroma of nuts, chocolate, coffee, cocoa, flavor of coffee, malt and chocolate, medium bodied
3.3 Bottle shared at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thank you Excellent Little Brother! Very dark brown, opaque, dark tan head. Sweet vanilla and coffee aroma, sweet, dry and roasty taste, then comes coffee sourness. Full body, sweetish coffee finish.
3.2 Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks kerenmk. Dark brown to black with a tan head. Aroma of coffee, some roastiness and light chocolate notes. Mildly roasty flavor with coffee beans, a bit "green" and a bit of nutty hints. Medium-bodied.
3.8 Rich aroma of dark roasted coffee and chocolate. Opaque deep brown colour with tints of red when held to the light. Heavy flavour of coffee as well as notes of dark chocolate with a medium bitterness. Full bodied without being to thick. I’d definitely buy again
4.1 Pours a nice brown red. Lots of head that dissapates quickly. Smells like malts, coffee. Tastes similar with a nice balance of bitterness. No hops but don’t expect much in this category. Decent and I’d get again.
3.6 Bottle. Dark pour, small off-white head. The aroma, while mild, is very pleasant dark coffee. Flavour is more coffee with malt and hints of vanilla and chocolate. Very clean, simple, tasty and easy drinking. I absolutely love the flavour, but I just wish there was more of it. Not very robust for a porter.
4.0 Stong coffee aroma and flavor with hints of chocolate, vanilla and yeast. Not too bitter, not too sweet.
3.8 A good tasting beer. I thought I should just try one thinking the coffee taste might be over powering like other coffee beers I have tasted (I am not much of a coffee drinker). But this one was well balanced, good tasting beer overall.
3.3 Pours black with a half finger, creamy, off white head. Bubbles can be seen rising to the top. Leaves good lacing. Smells slightly bitter with hints of coffee. Taste is of roasted coffee. Slightly bitter but not much. Not too much else. Light body. Slightly watery for my liking but not bad. Low to medium carbonation. A good coffee brew but not much else.
4.2 Out of the many coffee stouts and porters that I have tried this beer is with my top three. It's got a great malty coffee flavor with a very subtle hint of vanilla. The thick body of the beer helps it linger on the pallet with a very nice finish
5.0 A great blend of high quality Balzac’s coffee beans in a rich dark beer. No need for an after dinner coffee when your meal is accompanied by this fine brew. I enjoyed this drink along with a flight of interesting brews in the newly-opened Mill Street Beer Hall. A Beer Lovers’ Paradise!!!!
3.6 Aroma of dark chocolate Colour is black with a thin, tan head Sweet, espresso taste A bit light in taste for a porter
3.8 Light chocolate and coffee flavour are welcomed upon first sips. I like the tankhouse ale a bit more. There isn’t much else other then the flavours mentioned, though they go well together.
3.7 Bottle. Pours black, thin body, with medium khaki head. Aroma is heavy of coffee grounds heavy with some lactose sugar. Flavor is dark roast ground coffee and lactose sugar with hints of cola. Lingering roastiness, slightly creamy and frothy body. Everything blends together really well. Balanced. Quite good! Wait... "Currently, there are no other coffee-flavoured beers in the Ontario market." What the hell?!?
3.9 For a porter, this is somewhat thin. Coffee is apparent, but also a small amount of chocolate. Brandon and Monica picked this up for me in Toronto in 2013.
3.4 Black pour with a tan head that hangs around for awhile. Aroma of roasted malt and a slight hint of coffee. Mouth is kind of thin. Finishes bitter with espresso. Upfront it is slightly sweet. Some burned notes here and there. Overall not a bad coffee porter.
