Mill Street Lemon Tea Beer

Mill Street Lemon Tea Beer

A remarkable wheat beer infused with a blend of Orange Pekeo and Earl Grey teas. It pours a light amber colour and will charm you with its sublime tea flavour and subtle lemon twist. A trully Canadian take on one of Europe’s newest beer styles.

3.1 Came in the Summer box set. Poured a golden colour with a very short lived head. Has a nice light lemon flavour and some spiciness to it. Very refreshing. It’ll make you want to mow the lawn, even in winter, if you have enough.
2.5 473ml can from the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario. Golden amber in colour with a thin quickly dissipating white head, very light lacing. The aroma is of lemons, soap, flowers, light cereal and grains. The flavour is of light lemons, floral, quite soapy, sweet, some toasted caramel malts, earthy, iced tea. Sweet mouthfeel, light body, medium carbonation. Finishes with a bit of lemons, watery with some sweetness. Not to fond of this. The lemons add a strong chemicalness to this. Possibly the Stock Ale with lemon flavouring?
2.5 Pours a dark amber with a thick white head. Plenty of carbonation. Aromas are very light. A mild maltiness and some wet cardboard. Both faint. Not really getting much lemon, or tea. Maybe a slight whiff of vanilla in there. Light mouthfeel. Hints of caramel malts up front, lemon finally comes through on the actual swallow, although quite light. Overall add this one to Mill Street’s unfortunate growing stack of unremarkable and forgettable beers.
2.7 Surprised this 16 oz can is 5%. Thought it would be less. $3 @vintage estate. Nice head, darker hefe like pour. Not much aroma but I guess it does have a little lemon perfume thing going on. Much more impact than expected, was thinken this would be some low alky shandy thing, boy was I wrong. Lemon yes, but its more like something unsweetened, not like lemon aide @ all. Weird, like lemon with just a tad of tea and the big beery thing inthe background. On wing night, this is not as good as a yeengy B&T but SWTF? Yea, has enough alky to let you know its beer but its not possessive of any real ill ale attributes. Go figger, a wheat eh?
3.6 On tap at the Ottawa beerfest. An opaque light gold pour, the aroma is malty lemon with nice bready notes. A really nice lemon iced tea beer / tasty.
3.0 Aroma of slight grain and mostly lemonade dominating. Clear yellow in color. Taste is grain with a strong lemon flavour. A different brew but interesting and easy drinking.
3.0 Can. Very refreshing beer. Reminds of hard ice tea, but not so cheap tasting, as it still tastes like beer. A real easy drinker with a light sweet lemony body. The hints of tea are nice as well. Well balanced for the type of beer, but I not big on the style.
2.9 473 ml can. Pours a hazy, dark amber colour with a small white head. Aroma of tea, caramel and lemon. Sweet flavour with lemon tea, malt and sugar. Light body, watery texture and flat carbonation.
2.5 On tap at The Underground, pours a hazy orange with a small white head. Nose brings out lots of lemon and Earl Grey tea. Flavour brings out more of the tea than anything with hits of lemon. Really boring, but drinkable enough. It’s okay.
2.9 Pours hazy honey with a thin white head. Aroma of lemon tea, wheat and malt. Taste is a little thin, though the tea and wheat still come through.
3.2 Very sweet, can definitely taste the tea and the wheat ale. Not a bad beer at all just a tad girly for my taste. Love tea, love beer, really cool combination!
2.5 Pours hazy orange yellow with a nice white head. Aroma is mostly green tea with some lemon. Taste is a bit grassy, lemon, green tea. Light in the mouth. Not my favorite but good.
2.7 Draught at Pumphouse, Richmond, BC Cloudy deep blond color, compact head. The malt aroma is a bit biscuity. Weak mouthfeel; papery flavor, with a very light lemony touch. Low bitterness. Useless.
2.9 Had quite a few times during the summer. Just putting in the notes now. Lighter pour, lit to medium body, lots of lace. Lemon takes a back seat to tea here in the aroma. More lemon while drinking this, yeast, wheat, grassy, but not terribly exciting. #edit# seems more muddled than when I first had it. A tad soapy. Adjusted downward.
3.3 This is from notes taken in the summer. Light pour, thin head. Very much tea forward. a refreshing treat, not my favorite style but solid for a flavoured... didnt taste artificial to me. Enjoyable and worthy of another purchase. Im pretty sure this was enjoyed on me deck in the sunshine. Thanks Lagerboy.
2.9 500 ml bottle. Pretty pour with half inch white head. Fades to thick lacing. Beautiful golden colour! Flavour is good lager with strong tea afternotes, very light lemon. Not a big fan of lagers, but this one is pretty solid, and the colour is beautiful.
3.4 On tap at the Ottawa brewpub. Medium golden pour. Aroma of lemon and orange rinds, wheat, and slight grassy (not hoppy) notes. Flavor is immediately dry from the tea with orange peel and lemon. Strong tea presence in the finish, which leaves it dry. Definitely comes off as a beer that would have its lovers and haters, and I lean more toward the former.
2.7 Stealth sample from Shawna’s glass as she heads out the door to pick up our dinner from Pizza Pied. Oh boy here we go again with that southern Ontario skunky after taste. A little surprised with Mill Street on this one. It’s like they stole Steamwhistle’s penny tasting water for this one.
2.8 Hazy yellow amber beer. Kind of fizzy, but not bad. Citrusy aroma, pretty much lemony but also a bit more complex. Reminds me vaguely of NeoCitran, but that’s not too bad because hey, who doesn’t like NeoCitran? Taste is actually pretty good, more iced tea at the beginning and then more lemony at the end. Not my cup of tea (hilarious!) but probably good for a refresher on a hot day.
3.2 0.33 l bottle in Toronto. Dark orange color. Very interesting flavor, real lemon ice tea aroma...
2.7 Pours a slightly hazy light copper colour with decent size white head that quickly turns into a small ring of white. Aromas are lemon(seems to be more of a real than artificial lemon), a tea like aroma, and some wheat and light malts. Taste like lemon tea with carbonation, wheat and light bitterness/sour combo. I think the lemon and wheat work alright together, more of a hot summer day refreshment.
2.0 On tap at Mill st. in Ottawa.I had this beer because the 3 other choices I wanted they were out of so .The color is a flat amber no head. The aroma not much of except tea. The taste as an ice tea very good but as a beer not so much just not enough in it to be good as a beer, but it was very refreshing.
3.6 refreshing to to see an alternative to lime beer...the earl grey and lemon was a nice touch.. to smell it it was delicious, and the flavour was not overbearing but subtle..
2.4 Can from YYZ airport brew pub. Pours a cloudy orangish copper with a nice big head and some lace. Smell is a lemony malty smell. Not too sweet or lemony either. Taste is like lemon tea with a hint of sweet and a little bitterness on the end. Okay lemon beer but lemon and beer shouldn’t go together.
3.0 Poured from a can a slightly cloudy amber with a fizzy head that quickly dissipated. The aroma is dominated by orange and lemon with bready undertones. Light and lively in the mouth with distinctive sweet, and very slightly sour citrus and tea flavours. Overall, a decent summer thirst quencher.
2.0 From can. pours a cloudy straw colour, fizzy head atop. Aroma lacking, wafts of sweetness some oranges. Tame wheat beer very little of the stereotypical features. Inital flavour of oranges leading to bitterness in the middle. Could be hops or could be cold bitter tea. Not unpleasant yet hardly refreshing either, a bit sticky. Fizzy mouthfeel.
3.4 Pours a murky orange color with a very tall, cream colored head that has a lot of staying power. Aroma has a very good amount of real lemon fruit citrus smell, very mild wheat malt presence and some earthy notes at the tail end of the nose. Flavor has a wonderful combo of a midl/strong lemon citrus bite and a smooth, slightly sour wheat malt flavorings. These two work extremely well in combination. The tea on my palate isn’t detected as well but I do have a bit of an earthy flavor in the middle which could be from this or the hops. The body is reminiscent of a heavy hefe. There is a modest amount of carbonation and its overall pretty smooth with only a slight acidic kick. Overall a pretty good beer. I pulled this out of the fridge thinking "Here we go again with an oddball combination" but in all honesty it worked out very well. Great refreshing, light beer.
3.2 Pours clear and gold, with a dissipating head. The aroma is a bit weak, but does consist of lemon, and earl grey tea. The taste is like a slightly weak wheat beer with a good dose of lemon, earl grey, and some tannic mouthfeel. Nice balance of acidity and sweetness. Light-bodied and easy to drink a few. This is excellent as a backyard beer.
2.8 If you like Earl Grey, you will love this. Pours a full off-white head that fully dissapates. Strong citrus and tea aromas. Very light body, and a faintly sweet finish. Very refreshing carbonation. Easy to drink, but tough to drink more than one after the novelty of the tea wears off.
