Mill Street Tankhouse Ale

Mill Street Tankhouse Ale

Like traditional pale ales, Tankhouse Ale has a deep copper-red colour. We use five different malts to produce a complex malty texture. The most dominant character of our Pale Ale is the hop. The spicy Cascades is used to give an assertive hop flavour, aroma and bitterness to our ale. The result is a satisfying and complex-tasting beer. Our brewmaster developed this recipe 20 years ago and it has remained his favorite drink of choice

3.8 Tap at Toronto airport brewpub. Great color and head is off white and thin yet lingers. Nose is hop and medium malt. Body is usual ale dry and fullness. Malta really shine thru the hop bite and overpower it. A bit too sweet I think but would do again.
3.0 Bottle at taste, Oakville Ontario. Darrk brown with an off white head. Earthy citric aroma. Marmalade and toffee malt flavour. More like a premium bitter than an APA. Lacking zing, a bit ho-hum.
3.0 I used to quite like this beer, but I get the distinct sense that it isn’t the same beer since InBev took over. It seems much sweeter and blander than I remember. They must be up to their usual tricks of screwing with a recipe, so that it’s a more mainstream beer to compete directly with Rickards Red.
3.2 Use to be one of the few beers I could get at a lot pubs that mostly sold macro beers, however there is a lot more craft beers you can get in Toronto now today. Now the brewery was purchased by InBev. Ok beer. Good for the style of beer, malty taste, but not my favourite.
3.3 Got this one through the holiday 6-pack. Discovering new beers, yet this one is plain. Tries a second time, gave it an extra 0.3.
3.2 Syrupy red, clear, frothy. Aroma is sweet and malty, slightly oaky. Taste is fairly malt-forward, caramel and almond, lots of cherry flavour. Hop flavour is pretty restrained for an APA. Pleasant, but a bit weaker than I remember. I prefer a higher hop-to-malt balance, but if you’re the opposite, then this is a good choice. Good intro pale ale, definitely better than nearly any macro product, but not really competitive among the better Ontario breweries.
4.0 Draft. Love this beer, very favourable and easy to drink. Good for all seasons and goes well with pub food.
4.3 Tankhouse is delicious. This rating is well earned. One of only two I like from Mill Street, but really enjoy this.
2.8 Sampled from the tap at the Pearson location. Pours a clear deep copper with a near white head that dissipates nearly completely. Aroma has sweet grains with some biscuit and toffee underlying. Flavor is much more biscuit forward with sweet grains backing.
2.8 Draft - Malty with light earthy hops. Clear Amber gold with a rich beige white head, Malty earthy almost cocoa notes. Very dark and earthy for an APA.soy sauce,
3.4 Pours a deep red color. Some caramel in the aroma. Taste is malty and bitter with some bread and caramel. Pretty good
4.5 Cor caramelo. Espuma cremosa bege. Lúpulos marcantes com sabor levemente cítrico e herbáceos. Maltada com sabor amargo e refrescante. Excelente APA.
3.2 S: caramel, alcohol A: red, amber, thin head T: malt, cereals P: fizzy, a bit creamy, very long bitter finish
3.4 1/4 of a flight at the brewpub in Toronto. Clear copper with lasting off white head. Aroma is of bananas, clove, and some citrus. Flavors of caramel, cola, sweet malt, and a slight citrus rind bitterness, followed by lasting bitter aftertaste. A bit thin, but enjoyable on a hot summer day.
3.9 Finally rating, but from bottle poured in glass. Have tried many times on tap. Pours an average size creamy off white head and has a dark pale amber appearance. medium carbonation and retention. Pretty good lacing. Aromas are very malty and hoppy, fairly well balanced. Has a really good smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Some bitterness. Flavours are also quite malty and hoppy, not too strong from either, also well balanced. Roasted malts and nuts, some spices and hints of caramel. Very tasty and quite an enjoyable beer from Mill St. Probably one of my faves, bottle or otherwise.
3.2 Draft in Toronto. Amber in all ways. Basic flavor & appearance. Good though. Easily best of 3 Mill St products I’ve had.
Boa APA,gostei.
3.0 Clear light brown liquid, small head. Aroma of hops and malt. Light body, little bit carbonation. Taste is bitter and peated.
2.9 Pours a clear copper color with a pretty big white head with good retention. Nose of citrus hops some rossted malt an some caramel notes. Taste is pretty sweet. Light body small bitter finish. Not aweful but not great either.
3.5 Toffee nose, copper-brown clear color with a wisp of a rim. Sweet citrus and toffee taste with rye malt and a tinge of hop and grapefruit on the palate. Finely made ale.
2.9 341ml bottle from LCBO bought a while ago by wife. Aroma: caramel, old cereals, medicinal notes as it warms up. App: clear copper reddish, medium frothy off white head, little retention, good lacing. Taste and palate: medium body, medium sweetness, more caramel in mouth, moderate carbonation, moderate bitter finish. Overall: not so good but way better than expected. A sweet, sticky ale. As the expression says well: a swill a day keeps the doctor away. Dp.
2.8 Pours a clear copper with a small offwhite head that leaves some lacing. Nose is of caramel, pine and something that could be alcohol (that would be strange, coming from a 5% ABV brew) but that I will call hop oils for now. Taste is moderately bitter and offers mostly caramel again. Body is light, carbonation moderate and mouthfeel is watery. It was alright overall but really oldschool and a bit watered down. Way too much caramel.
3.0 Can (473 ml), shared. Clear golden with a small white head leaving little lacing. Aroma is bland with caramel notes, mild spiciness and herbal notes. Taste is also rather boring with caramel, mild spiciness, herbal notes and mild bitterness. Medium body, but somewhat weak and watery. Medium carbonation. Herbal and mildly earthy-mineral finish. Short aftertaste. Not bad, rather easy drinking but bland and boring.
Cheers!
3.4 pours copper hued amber. off white head that leaves a interesting web of lacing on my hotel room plastic cup.other than that, its a fairly basic beer. mild bitterness, slight citrus and pine. not bad, not great.
3.6 Cask at JDW The Foot of the Walk. Clear golden. Nose is fruity, citrus hops. Tastes sweet fruity, citrus, grapefruity finish. Very nice, sweet though.
3.5 Pours clear mahogany with pretty tall off-white head. Aroma of rye, caramel, light resin. Taste is sweetish with a rye and resin bitter finish. Light, smooth body with soft carbonation.
